LaPew did a great job. Dewayne was friendly and pleasant in a difficult situation. He located the tank, which was in an odd place, and stuck with it until the job was done. Even though it took longer than it should have and was more difficult than normal, there was no extra charge from the original quote. Thank you to LaPew.

Description of Work: When I called they were able to set up an appointment immediately. My septic was pumped and the driver/worker was very courteous . I was impressed that the driver did not drive on my lawn and had hose long enough to be able to park in a near by drive way. I will call Lapew again and recommend them to my friends. I do not remember the cost but I do remember they were a lot cheaper than a business in Brooklyn.

We purchased our home a little over a year ago and at closing the prior owners stated it had been about two years since the septic tank was pumped out. I asked for the name of who had done their septic work and that is how I discovered LaPew Sanitation. They also previously--prior to our purchasing the house--installed the above ground access and lid which makes the pump out easier and therefore cheaper. August was the month we selected to have the septic pumped out--roughly two to three years after the last time. I found LaPew Sanitation online and called and scheduled an appointment. I asked for both a septic tank pump out and someone qualified to do an analysis since the yard around the septic tank seemed to be retaining water when it rained and was soggy long after. We had an initial appt for Friday, 2 August, but the same female employee (do not recall her giving her name and I did not ask) who made that appt called back on Friday to ask if we could move to Saturday since they had received two requests for emergency pump outs. This was actually more convenient, so we readily agreed. At the time of the initial appt, we were quoted two prices with the larger 1500 gal septic being $230 and the smaller 1000 gal being less. The new appt time range was 0800 to 1000 on Saturday and the truck and two men arrived well within the range. I had earlier moved our long (33 feet) travel trailer to a nearby parking lot so that they would have uninhibited access to our septic, but it turns out this was not necessary since they have extremely long hoses and the truck and still complete its functions at a distance. I had explained to the female employee who scheduled and rescheduled the appt that I would be moving the 33' Travel Trailer to facilitate access and she never mentioned the long hoses. However, this is a minor detail and had they actually needed the trailer moved, it would have been disruptive to do so once they were here. Ryan and the other man (whose name I did not catch) performed the pump out smoothly and efficiently, determining that we indeed had a 1500 gal septic tank. I asked them for the assessment of the situation I had mentioned when booking the appt. I don't think they were aware that was part of what I had requested but offered their opinion based on their years of experience. They suggested that the drainage/leech field for the septic was failing and that we would likely need a new one. Ryan informed me septic leech fields are generally only good for twenty years in this part of the state. Ours is roughly nineteen years old, if I have accurate information from the prior owners. The suggested course of action was to have Tom from LaPew come out and do an assessment whether a new field was needed or if mitigation/remediation was possible. I asked about the cost and was told it might be a $50 site visit or it might be at no cost. Ryan provided me the direct number to Tom. I asked for a general idea what a new leech/drain field might cost.. Ryan stated that the scope and requirements would be decided by the local county health department. Therefore, he could offer only a very rough, verbal estimate of $2500 to $10,000. He did add that a diverter could be installed between the septic tank and the leech/drain field. That way, after the new field had been in place for three to five years, the old one would have had a chance to dry out thoroughly. Then, every time the septic was pumped out, the diverter could be turned to alternate between fields and thereby, hopefully, prevent either from ever becoming over saturated again. Septic pump out was performed as promised at the quoted price and the lid was replaced appropriately. I have no complaints and would readily again use LaPew Sanitation again for this service. The assessment by Tom will shortly be scheduled and that assessment and any related work will be separately reviewed.
Description of Work: Removed the septic lid (was not buried) and pumped out a 1500 gal septic tank, removing all solid wastes that had not broken down since the last pump out which had been approximately three years ago (approximately two years prior to our purchase of the property). Further, they suggested that the drainage/leech field for the septic is failing and that we will need a new one.
