The Grate Haus

When I called to book an appointment, the Grate Haus was very professional and booked an appointment that was convenient for me. She told me who would be coming and when and that I would be receiving a phone call before he got there. Sure enough, the morning of the appointment Dan called and let me know he was 30 minutes away. He arrived, put shoe covers on and proceeded to check out my fireplace issues. Once he had done the diagnostics, he informed me in plain English what the problem was, what it would take to fix it and then promptly got to work - he also recommended a thorough cleaning which I was more than happy to have done as well. When he finished, not only was it working properly, it was so well cleaned it looked like brand new. I would highly recommend the Grate Haus

I traveled from Ann Arbor to Jackson to see the mechanisms/logs available in their showroom, which was more extensive than the displays I'd seen in other stores. While there, I spoke with someone who explained the types of logs and sizes available and provided me with some brochures. I also arranged to have Mike Mann, the "fireplace specialist," come to my home in Ann Arbor to evaluate both my fireplaces for their sizes and gas line adequacy, which he did free of charge. At that visit, I informed him which of the fireplace sets I was most interested in and he sent me a quote via e-mail for parts and labor. The fireplace sets were more expensive than others I'd seen, but possibly better quality and the labor cost seemed reasonable. I ordered the fireplace sets and they were installed approximately 3 weeks later. The guys who came to install the fireplace sets were on time, friendly, and didn't mind explaining what they were doing to me. They covered my white carpets with plastic to avoid getting soot from the old logs on the carpeting. They carried the old, sooty set out in the boxes from the new sets and everything was clean when they left. They made sure everything was working properly and explained some features of the remote controls to me before they left. The fireplaces have been working great ever since! I paid by credit card at the time the fireplace sets were installed and did not put down any deposit ahead of time - not even for having special ordered the fireplace sets.
