Our home warranty provider sent out this plumber for a leaking water heater. He arrived for his evaluation visit in a plain, unmarked pickup truck wearing torn, dirty, shaggy street clothes with what appeared to be two teenage boys. We paid him our $60 copay - everything else is covered by the warranty provider. When he returned to replace the water heater (with an adult helper this time) he drained the old tank all over our basement floor, then left rust stains all the way up the cream-color carpet on the stairs, not missing a single step. When we called to complain, he said if we paid him $200 he would do something about it. We will, of course, do no such thing, and the warranty provider said we have to deal with him ourselves; so now we have to pay for professional cleaning, or new carpet if it won't come out, and take him to court.
