EverDry Waterproofing is the nation's leading basement waterproofing contractor. We've served Western Michigan since 1991 and the nation since 1978. We have satisfied more than 70,000 customers.

"Please read before you buy. Save yourself and find a contractor who's waterproofing system meets minimum code requirements in Michigan. I went with Everdry because of their warranty and high reviews. Being a licensed contractor and BBB accredited I thought they would perform ethically and meet building/plumbing codes. They will make many promises about the work, then deny them and say the contract absolves them of responsibility. There were similarly priced competitors that used more expensive materials and specified they would pull the required permits, but Everdry's warranty was better (so I thought). It is cleverly worded to absolve them. I now regret using them due to numerous issues with poor workmanship and a lack of responsibility. The warranty according to them protects them from any wrongdoing including negligence. They will deny warranty repairs stating the water is coming from somewhere that is not covered under warranty without conducting any inspections. Even when proven wrong by other inspectors or contractors. They will also only offer a repair that costs them little and the home owner thousand is demolition and repair. Within days of the completed install I had water coming into the basement from multiple locations. I also had a leaking sump discharge pipe that wasn't installed correctly. A Damaged pipe was installed that quickly became blocked with stone. They will not acknowledge their poor work or lack of a up to current code system. I have been working with them for years to correct the issues. They are now refusing to make repairs and I have filed for arbitration and filed a LARA (contractor license) complaint. Everdry did not pull the required permits to complete the work. The entire system is not up to Michigan Residential Code due to the wrong size pipe being used, a lack of couplers, missing vapor barrier and concrete that is poured only 2" thick. The company refuses to make it right or acknowledge they should have pulled permits and installed a system that was to code. Now I'm faced with having to hire attorneys, a structural engineer, arbitration and eventually remove and replace the entire system and remodel the basement. Due to the system not being up to code and no permits being pulled, I'm faced with insurance, code enforcement and safety issues. Please save yourself and look elsewhere."

"These people give you a quote, then bug the crap outa ya until u say yes. Then you get about 6 hrs of labor, crooked walls, floors never straightened, and they remove your plumbing. Been trying to contact them for months now with no response. Even my lawyer can't get straight answers. Court date isn't set yet, but subpoena's have been sent. I do not recommend this company at all. Some sheet steel and spray foam =$17k After pricing it, I'd be around 4k for the little work they did."

Masonry services FAQs

Masonry uses units like bricks, cement blocks, and stone with mortar between them. Mortar is generally made of sand and a type of cement. Examples of masonry include the brick or stone on a house, chimney, or freestanding wall. Concrete is a mixture of water, sand, stone aggregate, and other materials, and is poured into forms or moldings. Types of concrete applications include driveways, garage and basement floors, and poured concrete walls in basements and crawl spaces.

The cost of masonry work varies widely depending on the type of masonry along with common cost factors like size, complexity, location, and season. Most exterior masonry work done in freezing temperatures tends to cost more because of the preparation and protection involved to keep the masonry from freezing before the mortar cures properly. The average price ranges per project or square foot for different types of masonry include:

  • Brick wall (fence, garden wall, etc.): $10–$45 per square foot

  • Natural stone wall: $40–$110 per square foot

  • Manufactured stone veneer: $20–$40 per square foot

  • Brick home exterior: $10–$30 per square foot

  • Brick siding: $3–$10 per square foot

  • Stone siding: $35–$50 per square foot

  • Brick step replacement: $20–$30 per square foot

  • Brick wall repair: $20–$40 per square foot

  • Chimney repairs: $160–$750 per project

  • Tuckpointing: $5–$25 per square foot

A mason lays brick or stone together, sometimes with mortar in between the bricks and stones, and sometimes without mortar, also called a dry-stack or surface bonding. Examples of work masons do include:

  • Brick, stone, or cement block houses and buildings

  • Freestanding stone or brick walls

  • Chimneys with wood-burning fireplaces

  • Cement block basement or crawl space walls

Masonry work tends to be more expensive because the materials can be costly, such as natural stone and brick. Masonry is also very labor intensive, typically making up 50% or more of the final project cost. In addition, quality masonry work requires years of training and experience, as with any skilled trade.

Two types of masonry are veneer masonry and solid masonry. Veneer masonry is thin brick or stone material attached to the face of a building. With veneer masonry, the walls support the weight of the masonry products rather than the masonry being built on a concrete footing. Solid masonry is a wall or other brick or stone structure built on a concrete footing, and the masonry supports itself.
