Information transmitted to company: We are disappointed with your company’s lack of attention to our concerns about the job that you did installing a new roof on our house. We said on several occasions that we just wanted a good job done on the roof and at the time we felt that you could do it. You did the work on our roof in January, 2022 on our house at 126 S Scoville Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302. (Please see attached videos and pictures). After the ugly brown flashing was installed on our front dormer and we were not asked about installing it and never approved it, you wrote a special addendum to the contract that said we would not have to pay the last $5,000.00 owed on the roof until you removed the brown flashing. At that time, you wrote up a special work order for it to be removed and even offered a rebate for the repainting that would have to be done. You agreed that the brown flashing detracts from the house and roof and looks totally out of place on our 120 year old house. Then you went ahead and charged our credit card for the final $5000.00. When we asked why, you said that you had completed the contract! The addendum that you wrote clearly says that the contract is not completed! (See attached documents). We have disputed that charge for $5000.00 and the credit card company is waiting to see if they are going to take it back from your accounts based on the resolution of this dispute. This incident and lack of communication from your company made us curious about the overall quality of the work that you had done and prompted us to contract with another roofing company to inspect the roof. They have provided us with pictures and videos of the problems they found on the roof and a written description of the issues that they found regarding how the work had been done. (See attached pictures and videos) As you can see they found several other problems including vent cap shingles that were split, nail heads that were left exposed and that no tear off was done on the flat roof, which you verbally agreed to several times, in addition to the ugly brown flashing that was erroneously installed against the dormer walls. All of these issues call into question the quality of the roofing job. You have said that the roof was installed correctly but these pictures clearly show otherwise. We want to have all of these problems fixed to our satisfaction by the end of May, 2022 (see attached document regarding the work that needs to be done). Also, please trim the roll roofing evenly so that the wood trim underneath can be painted. I think the front dormer needs shorter profile flashing and the wood trim restored and caulked and primed. We also want to be reimbursed the $350.00 cost of the inspection. We need to hear from you by May 18th, 2022 that you will do the repairs to our satisfaction. If you don’t want to do the repairs, the company that did the inspection said that they would make the repairs including cutting out 3 soft sections, correcting some valley shingle work, and doing a complete tear off and re-roof of the flat section for $9000.00. In that case, we would expect a refund of $9350 from you. We are working with the credit card company and sending them a copy of this letter. We are also filing a complaint with the BBB.
