Services we offer
We know how exhausting it can be to arrange and conduct a household sale, especially if you are also dealing with the loss of a loved one. From the set-up, to the pricing, to the managing of the sale...it can become a nightmare! We do it all...from set-up to clean-out. We also have extensive experience in antique and collectible appraisals. All of our sales are beautifully staged. Most importantly, all items of value are inventoried prior to the sale for our client's peace of mind.
They spent over two weeks doing the preparation. There was so much stuff that it was impossible to display everything at one time. Much was piled under the tables. Not everything got a price on it, even some of the over $20.00 items. Because they were only two people, several volunteers (relatives of the homeowner) and the homeowner assisted, bagging purchases, carrying heavy stuff to customers' cars, bringing stuff out of garage each day for display and returning to garage at night, rearranging items to display more, talking to customers as well, getting prices on unmarked items and just being friendly. The first day, there were so many people who arrived early that only ten were allowed in the house at a time. One volunteer kept track by giving customers numbers and calling the next number after one customer left the house with purchases. In the afternoon, this was no longer necessary but it was constant flow of customers. The third day was 50% off day which drew a lot of customers. It was difficult for the homeowner to see some things go that cheaply. The last day prices were whatever the estate sale person and the homeowner would agree to on the highly valued items and whatever on the rest. Service provided some bags to be used and homeowner had a lot of bags already. The contract that was signed did not ask for the service to clean up after the sale which had an additional cost. Homeowner also paid for the service to have some liability insurance for the sale which he later found out was really not necessary.
Description of Work: Prepped items in house and yard, setting up tables, pricing some items. Created inventory of items over $20.00 price to base total sale and cost of service (30%). Ran cash register for payment as well as credit/debit charges. Assisted some customers with questions and directions.

Response from Indian Village Estate Sales, LLC
We enjoyed conducting this very large estate sale for the family, and they were very helpful and a delight to work with. This sale was a massive undertaking, and, as they indicated, there was so much stuff that it was virtually impossible to price everything. We did consult with the homeowner as to what prices to sell items for as we went along. The homeowner was moving to a small apartment, and had to liquidate everything in the house as he could not take it with him. We did our best to ensure that most of the inventory sold, and for fair prices, and it is understandable that the family was disappointed to see some of the stuff go so cheaply. We feel that had we stayed firm on higher prices, however, much less of the inventory would have moved. The only thing that I would have to disagree with would be the comment on the necessity of liability insurance. This was a potentially dangerous property, with limited walkways due to the excessive amount of items in the house; very small, dark, cramped rooms; also the presence of toxic molds was evident...all of which could have resulted in significant injury and/or illness, and which would not have been covered by the standard homeowner's policy. We strongly feel the decision we made requiring the liability insurance was essential to ensure everyone's safety while on the premises. Overall, this was a great sale and we would be happy to serve this family again.
