 + -1 moreMy rating is based on price. When I called they wanted $65 just for repairman to show up (no diagnosis) then $80 per hour to diagnose and repair. This seemed a bit steep given one had no idea how long they would take to diagnose and repair the problem. No guarantees for what one would pay.

 + -1 moreWe were completely satisfied with Hometown Heating & Cooling from the time I initially called for service until the problem was corrected. They have definitely gained my trust and loyalty.
Description of Work: Recently moved into a house that had soot on the walls and ceilings. Narrowed the culprit down to the gas range/oven. Bob came out and discovered it had been partially converted to propane. After fixing and completely checking over the range/oven, he gave me some instructions on properly using a gas range/oven. His wisdom was much appreciated.

Description of Work: Our clothes washer sounded unbalanced with a loud thumping sound along with what sounded like it had a pebbles in it. We called the local store from which we purchased the machine and were told it would take 1 month before the service man could check it out. We then called Hometown Appliance in nearby Grayling, Michigan. They provided service within a couple days. The Technician arrived promptly, correctly diagnosed the problem and was diligent about fixing it. He had to take the top off the machine and the front side to determine the cause which was the block that balances the machine had come loose and caused all the noise. It was difficult to attach the block due to its location but he was determined to fix it and he succeeded. He gave us some valuable tips about loading the clothes in the machine which pleased us. He told us his company has contracts to service all appliances that are covered by the utility appliance service plans like those offered by Detroit Edison, Consumers Power etc. This is a high recommendation which we totally agree is justified based upon the success he had repairing our machine which now has been restored to its original condition. We liked having a local company servicing our appliance because they have been in the business for several years and would be there for us if we needed anything further.

Description of Work: Was not particularly schooled in newer Fridgedair washers without the digital readout for codes. Finally figured it out with some help on 2nd trip out. Did not charge me the 2nd time.

 + -1 moreI called them to come out just before Labor Day weekend and they said they could get someone over after the holiday. I expected this anyway. The repairman scheduled a time of "afternoon" he "got busy" and could not make it until 6:15PM. Yes, it is late but he could have just brushed me off but he didn't. He spent three hours diagnosing the problem, and came to the conclusion he needed to order some parts. You may think he spent all that time so he could charge hourly labor, not the case the company charges one set fee of $65 for each job. No matter how long they're there or how many times they need to come back it is still $65. He came back when the parts came in and fixed all that was wrong. Even after finding another problem he did not charge us extra. Our oven works great. Appliance repair is expensive and I had heard this company was a bit on the pricey side, however the service was excellent all the way through and they make up for the price by having set fees. I would use them again.
Description of Work: Main board of oven broke and needed repair as well as the igniter and heating element. They fixed all of them.
