TruGreen Lawn Care - 5799

I signed up and paid for 1 year of service to evaluate TruGreen. I was not impressed and was planning on finding a new service when I noticed that I was being billed for services after the year was over. The last one was for a aeration that was not even completed on 1/2 of my lawn. I always suspected that they were not doing the whole lawn and now I have proof. I called and was told that I had to cancel service even though I never agreed to service beyond the initial 1 year contract. I do not recommend the TruGreen service that covers Hudsonville, Mi. The service is sub par at best.

TruGreen delivered the worst experience I've ever had with a national chain. Last season, I paid for aeration and overseeding, only to have a technician spray weed killer over the newly laid seed just a week later. Since then, multiple services have been botched, with the wrong products applied, leaving my yard with more crabgrass than ever before. While TruGreen repeatedly offered to reperform their services, they consistently applied whatever was most convenient, without regard for the specific needs of my lawn. When I called about the crabgrass issue, they sent out pest control—completely ignoring the weed problem. The final straw came when I watched a technician miss 25% of my yard while performing a service. I absolutely would not recommend TruGreen in the Grandville/Jenison/Hudsonville area. They failed to deliver the service, professionalism, and results I expected.

True Green billed us for services that we did not request. They were unwilling to cooperate and refund our payment. There are so many better lawn care companies, do not use True Green.

Started with Scott's in the spring of 2016 but was forced into TrueGreen when Scott's was merged with TruGreen. The issues began after the mergere and continued even after canceling my services with them. The weeds in my yard got worse even after multiple applications of pre-emergent and weed killer. Every time I contacted the company, I received one excuse after another such as, "it's a really bad year for weeds..." Or "new lawns are very difficult to manage weeds in...". After going back and forth with TruGreen for over a month, I called a different lawn care company asking for an in-person quote. I did not disclose my agreement with TruGreen and simply asked for them to look at my yard and provide a quote. My yard had two different diseases and six different types of weeds in it. I researched each issue as it was presented during the quote just to ensure I was getting the truth. The next day, I cancelled my services with TruGreen and asked for my money back because they failed to uphold their guarantee. They declined but cancelled my services and sent me a check for the balance on my account. About 60 days after cashing the check, TruGreen contacted me by sending me a bill for the amount the check they sent me. I called asking why I was being billed and was simply told that they sent the check in error and I never should have received it. Not only was TruGreen three time the price of my current lawn care company, their customer service and guarantee are virtually non-existent. Some of our neighbors had similar experiences and cancelled their service with TruGreen as well. At $90+ per treatment, TruGreen services were incredibly overpriced, unreliable, and did not live up to their guarantee. Never again, TruGreen.

They do good work. Prices are very good.

It worked out well. They had to come back and do another treatment since the dandelions came back but I was satisfied.

We have been using them for a lot of years, and we have good luck with them, if we have any problems they take good care of it.

they would call to say they are coming out and not show, I would call the office, nobody would call me back. I would leave a message for the local manager and no response. They showed up here and there and treated the lawn, I still have many problem areas. They aerated only half of lawn and when as they were putting down grass seed it went into all of my plant beds, so I spents months pulling grass out of my plant beds. I won't use them again..

The price is $53 per application and I signed a contract for five applications. For this price they will aerate and reseed my lawn in the fall. I am fairly happy with them, but there was one service I wanted them to do that I thought was included in the contract. They were supposed to kill off an entire section of my side yard, but whether it was because of weather or they just forgot, it has never been done.But I have been happy with the services that have been done. I have not been at home when they have been there to do the application. I never have seen any damage to my yard and they always leave a sign in my yard saying to keep my animals off the yard for a couple of days. Everyone that I dealt with was very professional. TruGreen always leaves me a recorded message saying they will be at my house on a certain date for an application. One week they called four times and never arrived. I never got a call back with a reason as to why they did not perform the service.

The local company is awesome, they bent over backwards. The trouble is with correspondence or payments has to go right to corporate. They are clueless and I had a bad experience with corporate and for that reason I will probably not use them again. How they handled the initial correspondence was bad, a lot like a bad car sales man. They brought my house up through google earth and tried to tell me what my lawn looked like from that aerial picture and it is nothing like that. I said I wanted someone out there and he said that is not how they do it. They called when I told them not to, it was a bad experience. The only thing that saved it is the local rep came out. I called them a liar and hung up them and somehow the local guy got wind of it and came out the next day and were very apologetic. If they were local and independent I would stay with them. I told them I had problem spots and wanted the local rep to look at them, he said no after you sign up then we will come out and it is in all inclusive package so we will take care of your needs and I said no. I do enjoy the service.

They just about killed my lawn. I dropped their service.

I always receive a phone call a few days ahead letting me know when the crew will be servicing my yard. They are punctual on that day and always very professional. They answer my questions with care and care for my yard as I would. If I the weeds aren't effected by the application I can call them and they will come and spray again with no hassle! Their goal is the same as mine... I will win when it come to the weeds in my yard!

The trugreen rep was nice but the job was mediocre. My sister recomended trugreen. She lives in a much nicer neighborhood and her lawn looks great. We paid the same price but my lawn just never got better. Again, my neighbors thought it was pretty funny.

It was bad experience overall. As new home owner I decided based on cost factor only but after one year lawn condition didn't improve. Instead it developed some dead spot in many area. Next year, I called to cancel and it was hard to talk to agent who signed me up. Next year, They renewed contract even I cancelled it and sent me letters for 3 months. It took my couple months to explain situation and take care of charges which I didn't sign up for. Over all, bad professional, bad quality and customer services. STAY AWAY and save lot of headache.

It's turned out well. They are coming out this week and next week to irate the lawn, fertilize new planting and trees, top seed and spray for bugs, ticks and other things.

I canceled them, but they did come out and treat one more time this spring anyway. They showed up all the time and they kept telling me that they need to treat for bugs and they need to treat for this and that. Thus, it definitely got more expensive. I would definitely not let them spray. I had them put down granule fertilizer and regardless of the weather it doesn't burn our lawn out because that doesn't dissolve until it rains whereas with the other stuff that they sprayed on my lawn would cry out that I wasn't watering it enough. I cannot get out and do any of that because I am handicapped. They were pretty good about coming back and treating it again and again.

My husband really likes them. They are awesome. They make our lawn really, really lush green, you should see our lawn. They come once a month for all summer long. We have a contract for the summer time, I think May, June, July August they come. I would recommend them. My husband is really, really fussy about his lawn. With respect to price, my husband, he probably has checked that all up, we don't like to spend money. We both are retired so we run a limited budget and I'm sure he has checked everybody else in this area that does the same thing. With respect to their quality whatever they do they are here at least once a month and they always come in the morning when the grand-kids are not here and stuff so they are very good. They do an excellent job. Our lawn is always green and we don't have any weeds on our yard either and we don't have any dandelions. With respect to punctuality, they are always very good on time. My grass is so soft that my grand-kids can roll around that and not get anything poked into them. Usually some grass is course and ours is very, very soft.

I am very happy with TruGreen. They don't do any yard work; they do fertilization for trees, bushes and grass.

They were always punctual. I had some issues with my yard and they've always done a pretty good job for me. Their fee depends on the size of your yard. They are easy to get a hold of and are responsive to the calls.

They have helped the lawn. They are very helpful. It's not perfect, but it is good. Their prices are good. They are very punctual and very professional. I've been using them for a couple of years.

I tried their services starting in 2009. I got fertilizer and a lime treatment and a few others. It honestly didn't do much despite my best efforts to mow and water. By the end of the season, I wasn't that impressed so I decided I wouldn't be using them the following year, 2010. Spring 2010 rolls around and they GO AHEAD AND START TREATMENTS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! Apparently, if you don't tell them to stop treatment, they continue "with the same as last year". What is this, TIME LIFE MAGAZINE?! I called and they informed me that they do it that way to make it 'easier for me' so that treatments aren't missed. I said I didn't want treatments and that I didn't want to pay. They still charged me and CONTINUED with more treatments. I called again and told them to STOP STOP STOP. Finally, they stopped, but I incurred a $300 bill for services I never ever asked for and knew I did not want! I told them I wouldn't pay. They still sent bills. They then handed my account over to a collections agency. I finally paid hoping that my credit would not be ruined. I don't have the time and energy to fight it. I've never been so sickened by a company before. NEVER USE TRU GREEN. I am using a local family owned company this and he is great. 100% honest and doesn't waste your time or money. I'd give the name, but I don't want to look biased. I wish I had Angie's List in 2009 b/c I can see how great their rating is...a big fat "F".

We bought a new home 12/08. In 07/09, our yard had been graded and landscaped. It was ready to be seeded. We had completed one veg-kill with another company and had worked very well. TruGreen salesman approached us and "guaranteed" a great yard through split seeding, but stated they would not seed until fall (September). We agreed and paid up-front and in full. Well, it was mid-October before they seeded. They completed another veg-kill which did not work. They split seed over all killed weeds and weeds that were still living. During the seeding process, they hit a sprinkler head which I was eventually reimbursed for. Through the seeding, reseeding and fertilization process, there was only one time TruGreen showed up without us calling and demanding they return to complete the work they were contracted for. They have been here approximately 10 times. Our yard is yellow, brown and has literally ROWS of weeds. When thier manager came out to look at it, by his own admission, he had never seen anything like it before. Since then, we cannot get them back out to correct the situation. No one returns our calls

The salesman that originally came by in the spring promised me that my yard would look great, or they would make it right. Well they never got it right all year long. They need to change their name from Trugreen to TruYELLOW. Because that is what my yard looked like all summer. Needless to say I will be taking care of my own yard this year so I can make sure it looks good once again.

When they upped the price awhile back, I called and they lowered the price for me because I have been a customer for so long. They are always dependable and answer all of my questions. They are easy to work with and thorough. I would recommend them to other people any time. I pay them per visit.

Currently, I'm very unhappy with them. The first application was, by their own admission, incorrectly formulated and it burned a significant portion of my lawn. They gave me a couple free subsequent treatments, but it only seemed to make things worse. Currently, even after significant rain, about half of my lawn is dead and the only suggestions/comments Trugreen has was to let them keep "assessing" the situation and to reseed. The people who come don't want to talk to the homeowners; the people on the phone don't have a good idea of the specific situation. It's been frustrating.
