The first trip I had an older man showing me around and he was pushing venetian gold... It was an ugly slab with a huge orange vein but he kept pushing it. I asked about another one and he insisted it was too expensive but wouldn't give me a price. I complained about him and went back and worked with a woman and she was helpful in letting me look and showing me around and even helped me find the 'too expensive' one for one of my rooms. Over all, it was a good experience and my counters look great but the first guy wasn't at all helpful.

Our counter tops were installed by Top of the World Granite 5 years ago when we built our house. Recently, we noticed a seam was becoming open because of the settling of our cabnets. We called the company and explained the problem. They sent a team of 2 men to look at the problem and try and fix it. They worked hard and it was a difficult fix since we had tile installed on the wall over the granite. They did fix the problem and said there was no charge!! We tipped them well. All this after 5 years of using the counter tops. I would recommend them to any one contemplating new granite counter tops.

The company who installed my Granite Countertops is no longer around so I was directed to the Home Builders Association where I found this company. I called Top of the World Granite, INC. to ask if they were able to reinstall my double stainless steel kitchen sink which was falling out from under my granite countertops. When the sink started to fall out I jammed a support under the garbage disposal to keep it from crashing down and ripping out the plumbing. I called my handyman who temporarily shored up the sink with wood supports to keep it from falling completely out, but the adhesive (which the original installers assured me "held airplanes together and would never come off") had completely pulled away from the granite. His work kept the plumbing from ripping out of the wall and kept the sink up and usable until I could arrange for an expert to come in. I called Top of the World Granite, INC. Both of the people I talked to on the phone, the receptionist and the installer (I think Gunder) were friendly and confident and assured me this was a common problem that they frequently repair. I explained to the installer that the old adhesive would need to be removed from the sink and the sink reglued but that additional support would be needed to keep this from happening in the future. He stated that they also put a metal bracket, attached to the cabinets, to support the sink from beneath. He said he could come out within 24 hours. Because I could not be at home when they arrived I had my mother, a retired schoolteacher, let them in the house. Mike, the younger of the men was mocking and both installers spent a good deal of time making fun of the emergency repair my handyman had done to keep my sink usable. What I wanted was the sink removed, the old adhesive removed, and the sink reglued and bracketed to keep this from happening again. What I got was a single metal support under the sink held into each side of the cupboard with 2 small wood screws, metal brackets that are not flush with the wall, a gouge in the finish on the inside of my cupboard, a bead of silicone run around the rim of the sink and a sink (that worked fine before they worked on it) that now leaks. My sink is a heavy double stainless one, the garbage disposal is the most heavy duty one available, and I actually cook in my kitchen, frequently filling the sink with heavy pots and pans and Gallons of Water (at 8 pounds a gallon). The only thing holding all this up is 4 wood screws. I called Top of the World Granite, INC. and was directed to Mike who was very condescending, sighing dramatically when I asked him if they had glued the sink in (they did not) and saying "I LOVE when I have to explain things to people." Mike insisted this would hold. They had left a paper that stated their workmanship would be under warranty for a year, so I asked that if it did not hold would that be covered under that warranty? He said "No" because they did not do the original installation. When I said I was not satisfied with the job he asked me what I wanted. I said "the sink installed correctly." he offered to come out and put another bracket on the back of the sink and charge me AGAIN. Since they tore up the inside of the cabinet and performed such shoddy workmanship I did not feel it was wise to throw good money after bad, so did not take him up on his offer. I have not received my bill so do not know how much this cost, but the point is I wanted a good job, one that would last, not a cheap and fast one. This job is not in keeping with the quality of workmanship in my home. I still have a leaking sink held up by 4 wood screws and do not know where to go next

Overall the process went well. There were some hichupps along the way due to the complexity of the counter top, the extra pass through shelf, the support spindles, and stained glass between the spindle supports. The only problem was we were not informed fully that we needed to make sure the provider of the spindles received a detailed drawing of the spindle layout so the counter top could be drilled correctly. Fortunately Top of the World was able to supply this drawing at the last minute and everything was completed professinally. I think Top of World felt somewhat frustrated with us, but this is the first time we attempted such a project and were relying upon them for guidance. After a bit of frustration on each side, the final project was stellar and that is the most important par tof hte poroject. Thank you to Top of the World for working on this project.
