Description of Work: Andrew Holroyd, the Chimney Specialist, is exactly that - a specialist. When he first came to give an estimate for unclogging a plugged chimney flue, he was informative, explaining how chimneys work, how chimney fires happen, and how he would fix the chimney; he also gave me what seemed to be a reasonable cost for a potentially tricky job. | |When he came to work on the chimney which went to a wood furnace in the basement, he first checked the second chimney which went to a first-floor wood burning unit. Good thing he did because that flue had cracked over the winter. So the job became more tricky. At that point he had to figure out how to break out both flues, then put one kind of pipe (zero clearance) down one chimney, and another kind (flexible steel) down other chimney. And, he needed to figure how to do it working via an attic access rather than going into the chimney from the living room and removing the face stone on the fireplace and then replacing it. (That was my worst fear.) | |Time and again he had to think "outside the box." Thankfully he could do that. I would not hesitate to recommend him. In addition, his helper was considerate, polite, and helpful. |

Description of Work: The Chimney Specialist rebuilt a chimney, put on a new cap, and installed a chimney liner. The service was excellent, although I thought the cost was a bit high.

Description of Work: I was referred to this company as a second opinion after finding out my chimney needs some very costly repairs while having it cleaned. I had The Chimney Specialist perform a complete cleaning, tile repair and also repaired some minor cracks in my firebox.
