I have a small home. We first contracted to put a metal roof on. We signed a contract for 12,000.00. Kodiak csme back and stated they couldn't do it for that as they calculated wrong. Real smooth talkers. We agreed to shingles, at 13,500.00. They roofers came and changed the shingles but NEVER changed the flashing, drip edge, or filled the open spaces on the roof, they just put felt paper over, and shingles. I still have the original leaks, and the roof is only about 6 years old and it is already starting to sag in all the open spaces under the felt and shingles. They wouldn't respond to us after the job was finished. Consequently my bathroom is molding from the ceiling where water is coming in. My biggest regret is I didn't sue them as I didn't know about the flashing and drip edge until later, where the leak was coming from by a different roofing company since Kodiak wouldn't respond.
Description of Work: I had a new roof put on.

It didn't. Sadly I put half down on Oct.3, 2019. Last communication was by Holidays stating it would be done before Christmas or right after. Since will not take my calls. And CONSUMER BEWARE, there are multiple recent complaints of same on BBB. This contractor sought me out through Angie's List.

Needed windows so I looked online for reviews and found kodiak to be among the highest so I called them. Salesmen says make sure your wife is home so I can explain everything to both of you (clearly a sales tactic). He showed up to my house at 530pm dinner just got done we already knew we wanted new windows but he insisted to do his entire sales pitch for nearly 2 hours. Then he finally sits down to price out 3 windows and a slider he comes back with 5900.00 then he says if you sign right now without calling anyone else ill give it to you for the price on the back of the paper, he flips over the paper and it was 5100$. After having him break it down and doing quick math in my head he was pricing things incorrectly and he caught himself. This was about the 3rd red flag for me after i said i needed time to go over it with my wife he stuck around for another 20 minutes trying to sell the product and get us to sign telling us you still have 3 day legally after you sign to rescind the offer I said no we need more time. Glad I held off they were almost DOUBLE what everyone else got back to me with estimate wise. He says we arent the cheapest and we arent the most extensive he was wrong they certainly are the most expensive and they have the most dated sales tactics i thought maybe this guy was a rainbow vacuum salesman at some point in his life. BUYER BEWARE THEY ARE SALESMAN AND THEY USE CONTRACTORS THEY DO NOT INSTALL WITH IN-HOUSE TECHNICIANS. There is also a lot of evidence most of their reviews are done by their employees.

I found Kodiac to be a good company. The work was finished in a timely manner and clean-up was excellent. The finished product was to our satisfaction. The company was very sensitive to any questions or concerns regarding the job and were prompt and courteous in responding to inquiries.

Estimator came to our home to provide quote for roof, some siding and gutters. Estimator (Ron) was knowledgeable but pushy. Appeared to be unwilling to communicate through email and really wanted to return with estimate in hand. I agreed that would be okay and waited for call for him to return. I called him after a week and again after another week. Second time I talked to another person at Kodiak and requested they have Ron call me back. He never did.

The two people who came to give me a quote had a high pressure sales pitch. The quote was way overpriced. The gutters also came with gutter fill, but the gutter fill performance has been nowhere close to the glorious performance promised. I still have to go up the roof three times a year to clean the gutters. The sales people also promised that the new gutters were not going to be hung with vampire hooks, but the subcontractor who came to do the job said that it was impossible to do the job without the vampire hooks. They are also tucked too far under the eaves and too high so that the debris collects under the edge of the roof. I was also told that the splash guard at the bottom of the valleys would be enough to prevent water from overflowing, yet I continually have issues at the valley. Additionally, I had to wait two months for the job to be completed. In short, there wasn't a single area where they performed decently.

Less then a day after filling out what I thought was a replacement window calculator on the Home adviser web site. (there is no calculator) I received two call from two replacement window contractors one of witch was Kodiak Construction. As I was looking for prices on one picture window and maybe replacing 4 other windows I set up a home consultation appointment with a Kodiak Construction sales person. The person did arrive at the appointment time and for the most part seemed friendly. He made him self comfortable setting with me at the kitchen table. He wanted my wife to be there also and she was in the house but she had a bad cold at the time and did not set at the table with me and the sales person. He asked some questions as to how long we lived at the house and how much we spent on heat and air for the house. I should note he had a bag in in that bag he had what he said was small cut out sample of their name less high quality replacement windows. I told him not to waste my time with trying to sell me on how much money I would save by buying his replacement windows as the main reason I was looking for new windows was more for low maintenance and better looks and use and not so much for claims of saving a lot of money on heating and or cooling bills. He took a couple of very quick measurements of the windows and wrote on a sheet of paper a price range of between $10,000 to $8,000 but hinted it could end up in the $7,000 range with discounts. At that point I firmly told him I would have to think about it but to let him know upfront his so call quote was much higher then what I would pay for the windows. He said he would get back with me later. Well so far that has not happened.
Description of Work: I filled out an online quote request for several windows. Kodiak Construction was one of two companies that call me for their quotes. Kodiak Construction was the second one of the two quotes. And this was for 4 double hung windows and one picture window. I have to put a question mark next to the price quote as I did not receive a real quote just a bunch of number scribbled down on piece of paper. But the best I could tell was it was in the area of $8,000 to $10,000 but there would be a discount if I signed the contract right away.

Attended the Grand Rapids remodeling and new homes show at the Devos Place looking to get a few appointments set up for new siding. I received a call to set up an appointment and agreed to meet on a Tuesday following the expo Now that I do have a subscription to Angie's List, I wish I would have check out previous reviews before meeting with Kodiak. My experience was nearly identical to the person that posted the last review. Two men came to our house and said that since it was so cold outside, wanted to come in and sit down to discuss a quote. They kicked off their shoes and sat down as they were friends on our living room furniture. With this being the first quote we have ever received for our siding,, we really just wanted to discuss a general ballpark price range, or even better, a quote. (which was discussed on the phone) Instead, we spent an hour with these two salesmen that have completely embarrassed their company. Again, one man was quiet and the other talked and talked. I was somewhat shocked to hear these men ask me about how much we paid for our house, how much we have saved up, and other personal questions that had to do nothing with siding. (Thankfully, we did not answer some of these questions) In total, we discussed siding for about 10 of the 60 mnutes there were at my house. The men continued to talk with us without even scratching the surface about a price range, instead continued to tell me about the "spotless" ratings and reviews online including an "A+ rating on Angie's List". At times, one man began raising his voice and started to get a bit defensive at times. He stated that it would take over "an hour and a half" to get the quote we wanted and wouldn't even be close to the price we had expected. After he made us very uncomfortable we decided it was time that this meeting was over. Though I have had experiences with pushy salesmen, this was by far one of the worse. They were egging us on to set up another appointment and to rethink about spending more money than we wanted, to buying the siding on the spot so we could afford it. We denied, and were done with the appointment after an hour WITHOUT a quote or even a guess of how much it would cost. If you are looking to get a quote, or general ballpark number of how much it will cost from Kodia, you likely won't get it. And, if you don't like pushy salesmen or feeling uncomfortable in your own house you will want to look elsewhere. Thanks to Angie's List, I will be checking reviews and ratings BEFORE setting up an appointment to get my next quote.

It took quite a bit of time between agreeing to the purchase of their services in mid August and getting the doors installed in mid October, but most of that was due to having the doors custom built for our home. Once they came to install, they did a great job and were very professional. My wife and I were very impressed with the way they cleaned up after themselves. The only evidence that we had workers at our home was the 2 brand new sliders! We would HIGHLY recommend Kodiak Construction.
Description of Work: Kodiak Construction replaced two sliding patio doors in our home. As part of their service, they also put up an eavestrough and downspout above our deck and slider. They also replaced quite a bit of rotted wood around the slider in our basement.

Two men showed up to give a quote for roof and windows. One stayed quiet and the other one you couldn't shut up. The one that talked a lot was very rude. First, he walked into our house and sat down on the couch without asking. Second, he wouldn't quote us for windows because we had already had 5 quotes from other companies and he thought that it was unwise to shop around. Third, he wouldn't quote us for the roof because there wasn't enough ventilation and didn't even offer a quote on how much it would cost to get the right ventilation. Last, and this is when I almost asked him to leave my property he said, and I quote, "Well we're going to get going, I don't want to waste anymore of your time and I don't want you to waste anymore of ours." I'm sorry I didn't mean to waste your time on seeing if we wanted to do business with you. He didn't even give us a quote. Needless to say, we will never be doing business with them in the future and will advise others to do the same.

The salesman came out within a day of us requesting a quote. We had just started to talk about re-doing our tub, and so we just wanted to get an idea of what it was going to cost us. The salesman ended up spending 2 hours at our house going over his sales pitch including a power-point presentation. In the end he told us it would cost $8,000. We said there was no way we could do that. We weren't even trying to haggle, but he eventually brought the price down to $5,600 when we kept saying we just couldn't pay that much. The product looked like it would have been nice, but I cannot imagine spending $5,600 on just a tub liner. We are going to have it re-glazed instead for $300. The salesman was WAY too pushy, wanting us to sign a contract that day.

Installation went OK. The product is meant for warmer climates llike the southwest and is not appropriate for coldwinters. I also found out that I was highly overcharged. They took advantage of an elderly citizen. Received several phone calls and visits pushing for more work. Product is usually used in warm climates.Does not work in cold temperatures. It was misrepresented. I now found out from other sources that the job was over-priced.By far. Received several phone calls and a couple visits pressuring me for more work. Will not recommend.

A rep for Kodiak rang our bell on 10/1 despite a clear and quot;No Solicitorsand quot; sign on the front door. I told him a couple of times that we were not interested at the time and that it was not in our budget to put a new roof on right now. He was very nice just VERY insistent. I probably should have closed the door on him but I felt rude doing that so I ended up giving him a bogus number just to get him off my porch and figured they'd get the hint when they called it. No such luck. The rep came back the next day to let me know they couldn't get the # to work. I gave him the SAME number again. He went back to his vehicle parked in front of the house and tried calling it. Came BACK to my door about 10 minutes later, called the number in front of me so I could see it was disconnected and asked for another. I felt trapped at this point and ended up giving him my real number. Sure enough, his boss called about 30 minutes later to try and set up an appointment. I hesitated answering but didn't want someone coming to our door and disrupting the family yet again, so I did. The boss said someone was in the neighborhood, could stop by the next day and so on. I told him my husband wouldn't be around and we'd call them when we were ready. Since then I've received calls every couple of days from them. Finally my husband answered and basically told them to stop calling. I realize I could have ignored the door, been rude on the phone, etc but I shouldn't have to. The representative was very nice and I don't fault him. It's the pushy business practices that will prevent us from contacting Kodiak Construction for future work, despite their positive reviews. The ironic thing is we received some unexpected money this past week and are now seeking out roofing quotes. Kodiak would have been the first we'd called if they'd just given us the information and moved along when we'd said we'd contact them. My husband does not take well to people harassing his family.

We filled out an interest card at the GR Home and Garden Show. They came out and did an estimate on replacing our windows. Salesman was not pushy and seemed to know what he was talking about. We were able to get a better deal if we paid cash, so we purchased the windows and they came out in about 4 weeks and replaced all the windows the same day. No mess, no fuss. Excellent workers. Salesman came out to check the job over before we paid for the job. He came back in several weeks to make sure everything was still working to our satisfaction. Windows carry lifetime guarantee. We love the product. One of the best purchases we've made for the house. It helped us to get the assessment amount we needed for our refinance. Windows look great, easy to clean and have cut down on our heating, cooling and noise factor.

They were very good. They told me it take a day but the guy that they sent over was very meticulous and it took him three days, which was okay, because he was very neat and did a great job. It is beautiful. They went above and beyond and they concerned about their customer. They had a good follow up before they even started a job they send a construction engineer over to look at house and then their follow up was great because they sent two men back to make sure that the job was done to our satisfaction. I plan to use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Kodiak Construction about two months ago. They put in a kitchen floor, but the floor was pretty bad. I had water damage and they cut out the bad spots and put in new flooring three quarter inch plywood and then they put Luan flooring over that and then put in a Mannington tiling.

Needless to say nothing went well. They were very unprofessional starting with the guy who sold me the contract. (Wanted a hug after I signed the contract.) The crew was one man and his daughter. The materials were low quality. The workmanship was sub standard. The toilet leaked after they moved it. The grout is already loose. I've fixed the holes and repaired their shoddy work. The tub is scratched and nicked. The vanity looks used. The sink top was supposed to be marble. It is plastic and the wrong color, scratched and has nicks in it. Wrong faucet on sink. There was so much wrong I could go on and on. But you get the picture. I think because I'm a single women they thought they could pull a fast one on me and I wouldn't notice. The only reason they said they would install the correct vanity sink is they wanted the rest of their money. I shouldn't have paid them anything, but they certainly aren't getting any more. They breached the contract when they didn't finish the work on time and they installed the wrong materials. I will not let this company anywhere near my house and I suggest you do the same.
Description of Work: Kodiak was supposed to switch the position of the toilet and vanity (plumbing required). They were to remove the old tub and sink and replace any bad flooring under the tub and under the flooring. The were to install new tub, vanity and sink, tile floor, new shower. Basically a whole new bathroom. I signed a contract with them at the end of October. They promised to have the job done by Thanksgiving. They told me that it would only take two to three days to complete and everything would be done within three weeks. They didn't even start the remodel until Dec. 3 and that's after I called them several times. The tub they installed has scratches and nicks in it. The grout in the tile floor was not done behind the toilet and the rest of the grout is already loose and flaking out. The vanity has discoloration on the front (very noticeable) and scratches on the bottom. The shower head is loose (not properly installed). The sink is one I didn't order and the faucet is also the wrong one. They did say they'd replace it. When they were removing the old tub they cut a long gash through the bathroom wall into the dinning room. They left several holes in the walls where they were supposed to patch and repair. The crew they sent out consisted of a man and his daughter. At Christmas the three day job still wasn't done. They called the middle of January to say they'd come out to finish the job.

Kodiak Construction wants each customer to be satisfied with their project, however it is stated in our contact that “installation is subject to production or other scheduling, delivery of goods, weather conditions and other factors which may cause the actual installation dates and times to differ.” Unfortunately, one of the manufactures associated with this project sent the incorrect shade of color for the vanity. Kodiak Construction had to re-order a new one, during which time a different vanity was installed at Kodiak Construction’s expense to keep the bathroom functional. The new vanity was to be installed once it arrived. We informed the homeowner of these developments each step of the process. It is obvious that this story is exaggerated. Our products are top of the line with each individual product carrying a warranty associated with quality. These warranties protect Kodiak Construction and the client. It is at no advantage for either party to settle for sub-par quality products. Our company does several hundred jobs a year, and have always carried an A+ rating with the BBB. We have, and continue to, resolve any product or installation issues. The installer sent to this project has over 20+ years of experience, 10+ of those years have been with Kodiak Construction. Kodiak Construction regularly receives praise for his work. None of our installation crews would have left the job site with issues present. We understand small things get missed from time to time, this is human error, but Kodiak Construction always addresses any issues within a timely manner. We find it ironic that none of these problems were mentioned to Kodiak Construction when the initial installation was complete or during the time that Kodiak Construction waited for the new vanity top to arrive. These issues were not mentioned until we attempted to install the correct vanity and collect the remaining 2500$ owed to our company. Kodiak Construction has attempted to remedy the problem multiple times, but the homeowner has refused to allow us entrance into her home.

The salesman, Jason, came to give us an estimate for the work. Then the construction foreman (?) came to verify the work to be done. There was some confusion, so I called and the salesman came back and we clarified what I had heard him say vs what he meant to say, and also get in writing items left out of the original contract that had been agreed upon. Always, Always, clarify what you think will be done, as many mistakes can be made if you do not fully understand. The contract and the salesman stated the work would be done in 4-6 weeks. The construction foreman did tell me when he was here that it would probably be 8 as these types of jobs do get pushed back quite often. After 10 weeks I called Kodiak construction and talked to James, asking when and if they intended to do this work. I was not happy about having to do that. I was about ready to find another company to do the work. I feel that if you promise to do work, and something delays it, you should contact the person and let them know. That is one of my biggest pet peeves about business today. No one lets the customer know when things will not happen how they expect, or when changes need to be made. The customer is expected to ride roughshod on the process. The actual construction went very well. The two gentlemen they sent to do the work were very professional, and we were able to communicate about everything so there was no misunderstanding about what was going to be done, and my expectations. They did a very good job, cleaned up after themselves, hauled away all the garbage, and were a pleasure to have in my home, they showed respect for our issues and needs. It is very difficult to have only one bathroom in a home and then to have to have it redone totally is very inconvenient when someone is ill in the home. And by the same token, it makes the work difficult for the construction people. These guys were great. The last issue is the medicine cabinet. There was a part missing so it did not get put up. It has been 6 days and I have not heard from them as to when I can expect them to come back and install it. I would use this company again as the work is excellent, price is reasonable, and I hope they will improve in their communication with their customers.
Description of Work: Removed bathtub & enclosure, sink & cabinet, removed original flooring, created a bump out into spare room next to bathroom for new sink/cabinet unit, installed new shower, storage cupboard, new handicapped toilet (supplied by me), new flooring. Medicine cabinet is not installed yet, missing part. Waiting on installation. Painting the room was not in the estimate of work Kodiak would do.

I love the quality of their windows and their installation staff were excellant. However. I was disappointed in their sales staff. Ron told me they could do things related to the windows that the installation staff said they couldn't do. Installation staff worked with me to address my concerns and went above what they had to make me happy. Rob and Jason show up without an appointment to push their products. They were very pushy to the point of making me mad. Jared, was the best sales person I worked with. The quality of Kodiak's windows and installation would make me go back but I will only go through Jared.
Description of Work: I had 5 windows done by Kodiak in summer of 2011 ($4300) and 4 widows ($3000) done in Feb 2012.

I ordered the windows on short notice and wanted them installed before the end of the year. They scheduled my appointment and installed 15 windows on Chistmas Eve day. They came at 9 AM and were finished at 4:30 PM, cleaned up after themselves and left my house neat and clean. They were very professional and couteous. I would highly reccomend this company.

I am a 73 year old widow with a laundry list of ailments and I had to endure A 4 hour ordeal where the price went from $ 11,000 to $7000. Several days after the installation one of the salesmen (jason mitchel) appeared on my doorstep at 7pm and wouldn't leave for three hours until i agreed to purchase attic insulation, i have canceled the job and i am still waiting for a refund.

The guy came to do the estimate, and while he was measuring, he broke our lamp. He didn't even bother to pay for it, and the estimate was over 14,000 dollars for 7 windows and a Bay window.

THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY WERE VERY NEAT AND CLEAN. THE REASON WE CHOSE THEM IS BECAUSE THEY CALLED US AND ASKED IF WE WOULD LET THEM DO A DEMONSTRATION. WE LIKED IT SO WE HIRED THEM.
