Huyser Asphalt Paving & Sealcoating

Contacted for an estimate. Received a call from "Lindsay" who left a message that they got my request. I called back to a voicemail and said I was available anytime. Last I heard from them

I asked for three quotes from different companies in the area. Huyser was the only company that called me to talk about my project. The other companies sent quotes by email. Huyser gave us the best price, came to do the work when they said they were going to and did a great job. Everyone from huyser was professional and curtious from the sales rep to the guys that did the work,

We originally got the estimate for the work the end of May, at which time they told us the schedule for job start was about mid June. We gave them a 1/3 of the bill down payment. We were told they would call us when we were closer to job time so we could pull a permit from the city of Kentwood. Around the end of June they said we could get the permit. When we went to buy the permit, they were not registered in Kentwood. The company told us they would get reregistered and let us know when that was completed. A little over a week later we went down to pull the permit. At that time they told us we were on the schedule for the end of July. The end of July came and went. We were told that due to weather they were a little behind but would be on the schedule in the next week. The first week of August past without a peep. I spoke with the rep who assured me the job would be done soon. We were assured that the job would start August 10 or 11. The rep stated he would call me when he had the specific day. On August 10 the job was not started. I contacted the rep again and was told they would assuredly be here August 12. I returned home at 4:30 PM on the 12th to see that nothing had been started. I left a message for the rep and then decided to call the CEO. The CEO answered on the first ring and told me he had no idea what was going on because he wasn't in charge of our job. He tried to blow me off, but I insisted he hear about the unsatisfactory communication and non service we had received thus far. One hour later the crew arrived. I was a little afraid we would be in for a poor job. I was pleasantly surprised how well our job was done. The workers did an amazing job. They cleaned up everything before they left. The new driveway and sidewalk are beautiful! If you can get past all the communication issues of the sales and supervisory staff, you will find that the work crew is the star in this company.

I requested an estimate on line. A few days latter the door bell rang and the sales person from Huyser was there to give me the estimate. Somewhat unusual that no call was made to prepare us for the visit. We walked the drive and he explained what would be done and indicated he would send the estimate via email. I recieved the estimate, but it did not contain 2 items we discussed during the evaluation of the driveway. I called and asked to have those items included on the estimate and was assured they would be. Several days went by, and no revised estimate was received. I called and talked to the sales person who apologized and said someone in the office had forgotten to send the revised estimate. He further indicated he would be in the office the next day and personally would send the revised estimate. It did not arrive via email as promised and I called again and sent an email requesting the revised estimate. The revised estimate never did arrive nor did I ever hear again from the sales person. I went with another company at about the same price. I find it strange such a simple job of revising the estimate was not done.
