Hansons Window & Siding of Grand Rapids LLC

Took nearly two months to have everything completed. Was promised gutter would be no longer than 3-4 weeks (which is part of the reason we went with them). Window installers were an hour and a half late and I could tell they were rushing. Come to find out the next day that the gutters were not properly installed and water was leaking into home from window. Hansons contractor came out and said the window wasn't properly caulked, which is what he said was causing the window to leak. Later that day the window was still leaking so I contacted hansons to come back out and fix the problem. I was told I needed to have a superintendent come out to look over the window and gutters, was told it would be another 7 days before this could happen due to availability. When the superintendent and crew came out and looked over everything this is when I was told the gutters were not correct and he was shocked the contractor that came out previously didn't notice. All in all the window looks great and the gutters ( other than the one, which is the largest on the house ) are working well. I am very frustrated with the timeliness of them and will more than likely never use them in the future.

It went well. We are very happy with the new windows. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was correct. Their windows have a life time warranty that includes the screen windows. We were happy with their work.

It was so bad I had to get a lawyer and hire my own inspectors to make them redo it. Then they messed up the redo also. They disrespected me and my house over the course of 4 months. They would not replace the roof until the State of Michigan got involved. Worst company I have ever dealt with. Be aware that Hansons is licensed, but the people they send to your house are not licensed, and they are not background checked. Hansons hires the lowest bidder to do all their work. It doesn't matter who they are, as long as they have insurance.

We did have a delay because there was a big storm come through and they had to take care of everybody. The product quality was really good. We are very happy with that. It is really made a big difference like this winter that with the sound in the house you don't hear as much noise from the outside.

I called a few different companies for some shingles repair on our roof but their phone quotes were outrageous. I decided to call Hanson?s for full replacement just to see what the price difference would be. Hanson?s was prompt to return our call. Cindy was courteous and sweet and funny, and we went ahead with scheduling a technician to come out and give us an estimate. Barry came and was superb-- not only did he come on time, he came and spoke with me about what I thought we needed, and he even agreed to include some extra work ( securing our shutters back on the walls)-- All for a price that I thought was more than reasonable for full replacement-- especially compared to the other ones I received to just repair. The crew that came out to do the work was very efficient. They were on time both days, cleaned up 98% of the debris that was left, (found a few nails in my lawn but it happens), and were very courteous considering he went over what exactly he was doing. Overall, everyone was really nice and helpful, great work. Highly recommend them to anyone in need of repairs in the home.

Hanson?s WIndows and their window crew are the greatest. We called hanson?s windows to get a quote to replace our old ratty windows. I called and set up an appointment to have a sales rep come out and give us an estimate. The sales rep was very knowledgeable about what windows could be provided and the positives and negatives of each variety. The appointment took longer than we thought, but at least I knew what I was getting. His quote ended up being more than we had originally indented on spending but it was worth it. We knew that we were getting quality windows that would last for decades to come and were being installed by professionals. Yes, we could've gone to Lowes and bought a window for half the price and fumbled our way through installation but the quality would not have even come close. Fred and his team installed the windows in a day and did an amazing job. They were professional and cleaned up all the debris. There are absolutely no drafts in our windows now and the entire house stays warmer. Overall a great job.

I need a roof and windows. Our salesman was right on time. He was very kind and personable. He took all the measurements as you would expect. He showed us his "company sales show" for lack of better terms. I appreciated how he explained the difference between the windows as well as the shingles. The prices were ridiculously high. Then of course he starts deducting this and that's. The windows started at $12,169 and ended up at $7,452. The roof started at $11,825 and ended up at $7,011. This is a total still of $14,463. I asked our salesman about being licensed and insured, he said they were. I wanted to think about this for a minute, I was walking around my living room and the pressure selling started. He had my husband so close to saying yes that I had to step in. To get to our money for this I told the salesman that I need: 1. An estimate that includes the description of the work. 2. Name of the contractor, license number and proof of insurance. He flashed a certificate that looked like a diploma for my husband to see and said that was their proof of insurance. He also said this is considered a third-party bid and they do not do them. I also asked him how do we get a hold of him to do this after we discuss this. His reply was, "these prices will not be effective if we do not do it right now. Otherwise call 1-800-hansons." No business card left either.

I purchased new windows for my home in march and the company stated that they would be installed no later than mid May. It is not the end of July and I still do not have my windows. They have scheduled with me 4 times and have either no called no show, or the other three times gave me a day before to cancel the install. I have taken days off work to be there and then they cancel. I would not recommend them to anyone.

The high pressure sales tactics would probably prevent us from using Hanson's in the future. But...the installers were top notch & did EXCELLENT work!!! We are VERY happy with our new windows. Had a seal go bad in one of them & they ordered a new one for us right over the phone & had it installed within 2 weeks!!!

The project went great with only minor hic-cup with the scheduling staff. Appears they don't always know what the previous schedular had quoted. Overall a very good experience - the installers knew their work and performed very expediently (the weather looked as if it would rain any minute). Even being hurried due to weather, the installers did not cut any corners but did everything right, even cleaned up all scraps afterwards. Would definitely use Hansons again.

Despite a laughably poor previous experience with Hansons a few years ago we decided to use them again for windows. Even though our first experience wasnt so great the windows really have been very good, so we wanted that same good quality for our remaining windows. The visits with the sales guy were okay. He was friendly and chatty, and while nice, could have taken much less time. We did appreciate that he skipped some of the official presentation - I didn't care to hear another time the background on the company and how wonderful Brian Elias is. It's difficult to follow the pricing for this company an others like it because they seem to shuffle the prices around quite a bit - we were never sure that we were getting the best price. They have discounts for all kinds of things, so be sure you are getting everything you qualify for - you get discounts for putting their sign in your yard, for paying in full, if you go with the old glass from the previous technology, etc. I got the feeling if you don't ask, you'll be quoted list. At first, after the order was placed, there was lots of communication by the office or factory, but as soon as our windows were installed and we were at the point if ironing out the kinks, the soonest they could schedule to get back here was a month to 6 weeks out to have those issues resolved. We had an issue that arose on site, as a result of something our sales guy overlooked. We thought a certain part was included, but he hadn't included it in the quote. As a result, we had a lot of back and forth that day - and the installers stayed a lot longer than they or we planned -while we negotiated the price to add the items that were overlooked. At the end of the day, we ended up paying several hundred more than we anticipated, even though the sales guy admitted he made the mistake. They'll credit us that back if we buy a roof from them next year. Right. We still don't have everything wrapped up. Service missed their appointment last week and getting it set up again has been like pulling teeth. We have been contacted multiple times to provide feedback on our experience. I provided that info twice, but the requests just keep coming. The latest one was a postcard in the mail today. I have already expressed our displeasure over our experience with a live person and completed an online survey - I'm not going to do another survey or speak with a third party who has been hired to collect additional feedback. I really, really think anyone looking for anything Hansons provides would do better to go somewhere else. Unless you don't mind muddy pricing practices and slipshod customer service - then be my guest, give Hansons a try.

My wife and I called Hansons a while back for a quote on a sliding door for the back of my house. When the salesman arrived, we told him that we had brand new windows and only needed the sliding door and also told him that our baby was with a sitter so we had a limited time to talk. Despite this, he proceeded to tie us up for nearly 2 hours while trying to convince us that we needed new windows in addition to the door. When we finally got him back on track, he proceeded to present us with an initial price of over $2,000. When I obviously objected to this sky-high rate, he proceeded to come down a little. This continued for a while (including the tacky "let me call my boss" bit) until he was finally down around $700, which was a reasonable price but by that point, he'd destroyed any possibility of us trusting him and his company.

They did a good job and completed the work quickly. However, they didn't follow through on their promise to provide me with a $25.00 gift card for having an estimate done. I tried to call about this, but no one ever returned my messages.
