Description of Work: I have had Godwin plumbing do 2 different jobs in recent months. 2 different techs, both prompt, courteous, knowledgable, and did a great job.

Description of Work: Mike from Godwin Heating and Plumbing moved my laundry room to the main level. He did an awesome job! He arrived on time, worked efficiently and completed the job without any issues. I don't ever remember any project ever being completed so smoothly. Godwin Heating and Plumbing - YOU ROCK!!!!!

Description of Work: My wife and I purchased a home no one had lived in for approximately one year. When we took possession of the house the water meter was turned off. As a result of a home inspection we knew that the high efficiency hot water heater was inoperable, and that there was a leak to an outside faucet supply line. We also were concerned about potential problems with the water supply lines and drains for sinks, bathtubs, showers, toilets, and laundry room. In addition, we wanted the gas fireplace checked for proper operation and safety, and a whirlpool tub checked for safety and sanitation. A telephone call to Goodwin Plumbing resulted in an appointment for Mr. Brian Vance to come out and get the water supply turned on, fix the leak, and repair or give an estimate for replacement of the hot water heater and other work to be done. Mr. Vance called 10 minutes before the appointment to indicate he would be arriving soon and then arrived on time, which is a courtesy I appreciate. He began his work by showing me that the winterizing company had installed the water meter backwards and loosely and gave a little demonstration of what would happen if I had turned it on. Although I am very skilled at household repair and maintenance, this completely justified my comments to my wife to the effect that I can't and won't do plumbing [due to past disastrous attempts]. After properly installing the meter, fixing the leaky outdoor faucet, getting two kitchen sinks and a bathroom working, Mr. Vance analyzed the problem with the high efficiency water heater which was the control valve to the gas supply. He told me it was reparable at a price I know was reasonable for the work. At that point, I asked how much it would be to replace the entire thing and opted to do that instead. We made an appointment to finish all of the remaining work two days later. Mr. Vance again called before arrival and arrived on time. He quickly and efficiently installed the hot water heater, replaced the water supply and flush mechanisms to three toilets, got the whirlpool tub operational attaching a missing piece to the faucet that he had found under a sink. He gave me instructions on how to sanitize the mechanisms of the tub after the long disuse. He gave me instructions and showed me how to operate the tub since there were no instructions in the house and we had never had a whirlpool tub before, Mr Vance checked the gas fireplace and showed me how to operate it as my prior experience was confined to wood burning fireplaces. Throughout the work, I was not only observing every step but also asking numerous questions since after a 23 year absence from Michigan and having an all electric southern home I was not familiar with the gas equipment. Mr Vance had the rare ability to focus on working while carrying on a running conversation about what he was doing and how things worked. He displayed a terrific sense of humor as well. I would recommend Goodwin plumbing to anyone based on the quality of service I received from Mr Vance. I need some garage door and heating and cooling work done and, based on this experience, am convinced that I will used Goodwin's other divisions for this work. Mr. Vance is a true professional who exhibits a real ability to understand the needs of his customers.

Description of Work: The service man arrived on time. He completed the job in a short time and was very pleasant. The cost of the service was good for a Saturday. I certainly appreciate the work done in a small time.

Description of Work: Excellent company. Have been my go to plumbers and water heater people since I have lived in Grand Rapids for the last six years. Very professional, prompt and excellent customer service and support. Godwin's has sold and installed all of the toilets and water heaters in my last two houses, as well a installing humidity systems. They have an excellent reputation.

Description of Work: Prompt, courteous, professional, no nonsense, fast. Items came out as estimated. New garbage disposal, new water heater, revised plumbing to facilitate draining, pressure tank, revise Reverse Osmosis links and replace RO filters. Found additional problem with pressure tank and had one delivered and installed the same afternoon of the day he started. Same for water heater which I suspected was about to die. In other words, he found more than he had been scheduled for and responded quickly, efficiently, and pleasantly. The scheduling office was courteous and informative, good advice. I wanted quality, not cheap substitutes and I think I got it.

Description of Work: Price is an approximation -- forgot exactly how much we were charged! 1. First time we used Godwin, the plumber fixed a small, constant leak in our basement. The company was professional when we called to make the appointment. Our plumber was on time to our appointment, quick yet thorough to make a judgement on the problem, and efficient in making an estimate and fixing the leak. He told us about options that we had to fix our problem, but gave us several ways to fix it according to budget. So, we felt as if we weren't being cheated or made to fix a problem with the most expensive solution. 2. We called Godwin again for a surprise leak at our main line. The same plumber came out for our job since he knew our house from the previous call. He diagnosed the problem which involved the City to come out. He didn't charge us immediately because it might just be a job for the city. When we called the city, they came out and weren't as efficient or friendly as Godwin. They were hesitant to do much work and thought it might not be in their jurisdiction, but they did end up tightening our pipes and telling us that it wasn't necessary to do anything for at least a year. So, the city was helpful in the end, and Godwin wasn't as helpful because he could have easily just tightened our line, but was hesitant to mess with what might be the City's problem. This is why we've given Godwin a B, instead of an A.

Description of Work: Removed and disposed of old water heater. Delivered new water heater and showed me how to install it myself thus saving me about $400.
