Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Grand Rapids

In March 2012, installation. In summer of 2012, problems with the storm door, leaking. We called to express our dissatisfaction with the door. A representative came out & basically told us that all of the storm doors were like this, and it was not problem. Early fall, we had major damage in one room, the wall beneath the window was dripping with water. It was after a heavy rain. We called & reported the problem, Champion came out and said it wasn't their window leaking. They could NOT figure out how the water was getting in, so they replaced the window. It still leaked & ALL 7 other double hung windows were also leaking, the framework sill areas of all 8 double hung windows leaked. It took several times of them coming out, accusing us of having too much humidity in our house. After missing three days of work to be there for the Champion people, WE showed them exactly where the water was coming in. It was due to a design flaw in their windows. They finally sent a person from headquarters, and he listened to what we said, and proposed a way to rig - install the windows in a different way, moving the flashing up to compensate for the design flaw. This alteration was done, and we believe the leaks are stopped now. BUT, these are "rigged" windows. Not installed properly. THEN, one day after a heavy rain & freeze, then snow, then warm up, water started oozing up through the seam of the Champion picture window. Champion again blamed us, that we have too much humidity in our house. A few days later, we had ice in the bottom corners of this picture window. These problems, ALL of them are due to faulty design of their doors & windows. And, they will not take responsibility. I have asked for a refund, so we can purchase a better product, but they refuse.

We had them in for a quote and the first question was are you getting other quotes which we were and then after 3 hours he proposed a take it or leave it offer. Basically after we said we are not signing a contract the offer was good through the weekend. Pure pressure sales quote. Windows looked ok but this sales technique is not honorable.

The room is almost all glass on three sides. it was build on our existing deck. The sunroom was built in stages, building the frame and then measuring for the final transsom glass. this was a very busy season for the Grand Rapids office, so it took a little longer than we thought it would, but it was worth the wait. Quality is outstanding. We are very happy with the results

From our first contact to the finish of the projects, Champion did what they promised they were very professional and met our expectations. The only issue was that we had to wait several weeks for the entry doors to come in.

Love my new sun room, looks beautiful and plan on spending a lot of time there, the CHAMPION product with thermal glass is great. No complaints related to that. I was not happy with delays in starting the project, which was to have started in August and didn't start until October. Told once they started the job they stayed till completed....not sure that was true. I was not happy with the 1st contractor, he would not return my calls on a timely basis. It got so bad; had to complain to the salesman. Got a new contractor, he was very nice, worked out a lot better, return calls and kept me informed of progress or delays. The day the job was completed or so I thought, paid off the balance. Come to find out 2 weeks later that the final inspection was not done. While I did get the approval CHAMPION should have told me. Friends tell me contractors behave like that, it is routine. Well CHAMPION is a great product they should also hire better contractors.

It all went well. Very happy with resulting room, easy to heat.

Champion worked quickly & efficiently to complete this work, going the extra mile to do the job right. The quality of workmanship is excellent. We are very happy.

They were fast & efficient even in the snow . Done in two days. Cleaned up well, any problems or questions. They come right over.

The initial salesperson was very professional and knew his products. Purchase time to installation was longer than expected. Installatiom and cleanup were very fine. The service and quality of the materials and workmanship were worth the extra cost.

We were very impressed with the quality of Champion's product and the installer. All of the people that we talked to were very pleasant, and we would definitely recommend them. We visited the showroom in Grand Rapids near the end of May and the representative came to our home within a week. The estimated cost of the project was more than we had anticipated, but by the time it was complete we knew that it was definitely worth it. The only issue we had was lack of communication. Initially, the work was to be done the end of July or beginning of August. We contacted them the end of July to get a better idea of when the work would be done, and were told they were backed up and it would be a few more weeks. It ended up being almost another month after that before the installation began. The installer (Jim) was great! He did an excellent job and had everything picked up and neat when he was done each day, and everything was immaculate when he had completed the job. We were pleased with everyone that we dealt with.

The sales representative gave us an estimate. Another person came out to confirm the size of the windows. That meeting was followed up by installation. Their secretary and the salesman did a follow up with us. Everything was done on time and in a professional matter. They cleaned up afterwards and it was a great experience. We will use them again. They did an outstanding job.

The service was very well and excellent. The people who did the work, the sales and workers, were very professional and helpful in every way.

I found no downside to Champion. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

We are extremely pleased with out Champion Four-Season "Built Under" room. We first saw Champion rooms at the Kalamazoo Home and Garden Show. We also saw two other builders of four-season rooms. We had Champion and one other company come to the house and give us estimates. Champion's sales person was far better prepared and the materials he showed us were far superior. Champion's estimate was higher, but by less than $2,000. We visited the main store in Grand Rapids to further check the look and materials. The actual building of the four-season room took a little over one week. We were very impressed with the care and percission of the workmen. One workman even repaired an area of our house that butted up to the four-season room. It was still cool weather in Michigan when the room was finished and (the four-season room has no heat) we were instantly amazed at how the room retained the heat with being heated. After the first summer and a full winter we found that if the sliding door to the house is open to air conditioning and/or heating of the house the temperature of the four-season room stays very comfortable in the 60's. The insulation of the windows and the whole structure is fantastic. We use the room all year and have a small heater for the colder days of our Michigan winters.

Although the quality of the windows and the insulated panels is excellent, they did a poor job with the finish work where the sun room connected to the existing house. They typically used a very light weight plastic panel to cover up the old siding. as the room sits between 2 and 3 feet above grade, they constructed a set of wood steps down to the sidewalk. These steps had to be completely rebuilt once and a year later the railings are ready to fall off. They did not follow through with the City building inspector to close out the permits resulting in me being notified by the City that permits were being closed due to lack of any communication. The inspector found issues with both the wiring and the steps. I fixed the wiring myself and Champion never returned to do anything about the substandard railing. In addition, the work started later than they had indicated and took probably twice as long to complete. I like the sun room but would probably not recommend Champion for this type of work.

Very well. No complaints about either the sales or work cycles. As mentioned above there was confusion due to staff changes over a payment but it was handled well

Started work in July on 6th and finished about Aug 17.

The service was good. They were great. They were on time, professional, and great to work with. The product was very good quality as well.

Their service was really good. They were on time. They had to come back out to fix the bay window and picture window. I had them out again to fix the rest of the windows. The price was a little high. They were here right when they said they would be here.

The installers were very good. We didn't know that we were supposed to take the window treatments down, but it was no problem. They took them down and put them back up. They did a very good job. They were in and out in like four hours. The salesman that sold the windows to us was fired, so they made it clear that we had to get the work done by the end of the year. We kept calling and pushing them to do the work. We really like the windows. If you're not in a rush to get the windows, this company is fine. They were expensive, but we didn't check around for prices.

THEY GOT THE JOB LOOKING GOOD. THEY GAVE ME GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS WORKING THE WHOLE TIME TO FINISH THE JOB. I WAS VERY SATISFIED ON HOW MY WINDOWS LOOKED WHEN THEY WERE DONE.

WE ARE HAPPY WITH HOW OUR WINDOWS MAKE OUR HOUSE LOOK BETTER. THEY REALLY DID A QUALITY JOB. THEY STARTED AS SOON AS THEY ARRIVED AND DID NOT TAKE A LONG TIME TO FINISH. IT WAS A NEAT JOB, AND AFFORDABLE AS WELL.

THEY DID A GREAT JOB WITH THE WINDOWS. THEY GOT THEM DONE IN A VERY REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THEY CHECKED THEM TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING WAS DONE PROPERLY WHEN THEY WERE FINISHED.

MY HUSBAND AND I WANTED NEW WINDOWS FOR OUR HOME. I CALLED AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR THEM TO PUT IN NEW WINDOWS. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULT OF MY NEW WINDOWS THEY MADE OUR HOME LOOK SO MUCH BETTER.

THE WORK THIS COMPANY DID WAS OUTSTANDING. THEY WERE ALWAYS ON TIME AND DID THE WORK RATHER QUICKLY. THEY PAID CLOSE ATTENTION TO EVERY DETAIL. THE END RESULT IS SOMETHING THAT I CAN LIVE WITH FOR A LONG TIME.
