The day after Christmas, we discovered leaking water valves in our new home's laundry toom which required a main water shut-off. I quickly turned to Angie's List and after reading this company's positive reviews, decided to give them a call. They acted with a sense of urgency and had a serviceman at our home in less than 3 hours. He very neatly cut out a square of drywall and replaced both the hot and cold water valves with 1/4 turn boiler valves. He completed the job and had our water back on in less than an hour, and carefully inspected them for leaks after the job was complete. We were very happy with the service level and efficiency from Affordable Plumbing!

I have an older home (1929) and one of my bathroom sinks has been out of commission for nearly a year (yes, a YEAR!) The leading thoughts were 1) that the interior of the pipes were so rusty/scaly that enough broke off and collected that it would require a complete replacement and/or 2) that the blockage was due to debris (bird nest, 'whirlybirds', etc) that had fallen into the vent stack. I've tried clearing it myself with a drill-type auger and more chemical drain cleaners (incl. one that is pure sulfuric acid), had TWO different "drain cleaning experts" give it a shot and nothing could restore flow. I removed some plaster from the ceiling below to see if there was another way I could try to tackle it on my own, but space was tight and it quickly became obvious this was more than I was prepared to mess with. ...so I checked angieslist.com, found Affordable Plumbing was close by, had a decent offer and responded QUICKLY to my email describing the issue. The next day, they came by to see it for themselves and give me a quote, the day after that, they cleared the drain within MINUTES using a high-pressure water-jet. Had a couple minor secondary projects that needed to be dealt with, so within a couple hours, all my bathroom plumbing issues were resolved. Given the potential for this job to be much more involved than it ended up being (as older home plumbing can become quite the can o' worms), the quote I rec'd was a best case/worst-case range of $200 to $1000, so when it came out to just over $400, I was okay with that. Wouldn't hesitate to call again and/or recommend based on this experience.

The technician did his best but couldn't figure out what was wrong. After talking with him and hearing what he described, I knew the window well wasn't installed properly. It was beyond his fixing. But he was very kind, even apologetic for not being able to fix it for me today. I appreciated Angie's List because they had a $20 off coupon!

It went very well. We're having new flooring and he was willing to work around our schedule. Approx. a year ago the same person put in a new hot water heater. (This is the man from Rockford.). On both jobs I was impressed by how clean he works.

I called Affordable Pluming for help with a leak that was causing my drywall to mold. I work full time and have to use break times times set appointments. When I called I spoke with a female who asked me what the problem was... I explained... then she asked me to call her back in about 5 minutes because she was driving. I have to say I was taken aback by the request but did call back. I again explained the situation, gave two contact numbers, the female stated someone would be out on the 15th and that was the last time I spoke with anybody from Affordable plumbing. My experience was extremely disappointing on such an urgent matter. I DO NOT recommend them to anybody.

Called in the morning and set up appointment for that afternoon between 3 and 5. Jim arrived at 2:30 and went right to work. He did a quick survey of the system and proceeded to clean the drain. I had been fooling with it for a day and a half without success. Once I stopped trying to direct his work and realized he knew what he was doing ,he completed his work , checked it , cleaned the area and left. This took about 30 minutes. I am completely satisfied.

I called in the late morning hours after I noticed that the toilets, sinks and showers were not draining. I left a message which was returned within the hour. The specific plumber called and scheduled a visit later in the day. When he was running later than expected he called and let us know his ETA. (After hours on a Friday night.) Once at our home he worked with the septic lift tank and cleaned out a drain when the drains were not performing to his expectations. He explained each step as he worked on our plumbing. When the drains burped a few days later I recalled the plumber and he reassured me that things were fine and that he would come back if necessary.

I had a water heater go out in my rental house the tennant could not re-light it. after calling around to a few places I learned I had to call Whirlpool in order to get service as my heater was under warranty and no local shops stock Whirlpool parts. I called Whirlpool they diagnosed it as a bad circuit board and shipped me replacement parts for the heater, this was on a Sunday. When the parts arrived on Tuesday morning I started calling around to find a service shop that would come onsite that day. The only shop willing to come onsite during the time I could be home was Affordable Plumbing Services. Their service tech arrived onsite and immediately called me ( I was in Maryland at the time) saying that there was another more serious problem with the heater it looked like the entire inner sleeve and top had corroded away and he was saying that the heater was no good and that to pay him to do the repairs would not be wise. he took pictures and sent them to me via cell phone so I could see the issue. HE recommended I call Whirlpool to get teh heater replaced and to call him if I would like his company to do the install. he charged me the travel fee for coming to the house but nothing for the diagnosis or effort in calling me or taking pictures I called Whirlpool and they gave me the run around saying I needed to be in front of the heater so they could diagnose it I told them I had a professional plumbing company come out and that they said the heater was bad. Whirlpool wanted to talk to the service tech who was on site. I Called the tech at 7:40PM he answered and he agreed to talk to whirlpool for me. I did not hear back from the tech till the next morning but when he called he had an estimate ready for the following: remove old heater take it to Lowe's get replacement heater under warranty take heater back to house install it and upgrade 3" vent to 4" vent per city code. The tech had called whirlpool convinced them to replace the heater worked out how to get the replacement heater then worked up a fixed fee estimate for the entire job. he didn't charge me for all the leg work with Whirlpool and he was in constant communication through the entire process of replacing the heater. After the job was complete the work looked professional was well done and the work site was clean and free of debris and material. A++++ in my book this company and specifically the tech went above and beyond to help me resolve an issue that was already made difficult due to the fact that I was not in the state.

They’re very good. They were on time, and they cleaned out a drain that nobody else was able to clean out. They did an excellent job.

We have had two water pipes leaks in our basement for quite some time but just in the last month one of them has really started dripping and spraying water all over. This leak was between the walls of two bathrooms and one of the bathrooms had water soaked carpet that we couldn't get stopped. We also had a toilet in this same bathroom that we hadn't used in several years because of a leak from that. We just turned the water off to that toilet and didn't use it. Rockford Plumbing came in and fixed the water leaks in the basement and repaired the toilet. They also recommended a company to come in and do restoration on the damaged stud wall and bathroom carpet. We also had a misunderstanding about the price quoted but they worked with us on that and were satisfied with the price paid.

They were on time & very pleasant. They came early because I had to go to work - they were very accommodating.

After the first visit, the drain worked better but did not drain fully - each load of laundry left a puddle of water around the drain. Left a message after 2 weeks but no response. Information said they had a 30 day guarantee so finally reached them on day 30. Owner said they never got my call and said I would have to pay for a service call because the appointment would be on day 31. When I questioned this, he changed his mind and set up an appointment for 11:00am the next day. After rearranging our schedule to be home for the appointment, I received a call at 10:30am. Instead of a confirmation , the service person, Jim, said he was calling "to set up an appointment" . I explained that I already had an appointment for 11. After a bit of colorful language, he said he was too busy and the owner didn't know what he was doing and should never have made the 11am appointment. A time was set for the following day. He arrived with a negative attitude and spent 15 minutes here and only to announce that there was not a problem - he had cleared it the first time. Adding that if there was a continuing problem, we must have done something wrong. (not true, since it was never fixed fully to begin with). As he was leaving, I tried to speak to him regarding the drain but just he walked away from me saying "you don't have anything nice to say and so I'm leaving". There were additional small details that could be improved as well. He used the entire 50 gallons of hot water in the water heater on the second visit because he was "in a hurry" to test the drain. No shoe covers, simply wiped his feet and did not protect our carpet from the machine - leaving a dirt trail on the carpet. on the second visit. After 2 visits and almost $200, the drain is still not fully operational. We'll be calling someone else to get the drain cleared!

I called at 12:00 to set up an appointment and Kirk was here by 2:30. He checked our sump pump/sewer pump because we have been having problems with some water on the basement floor when using the washer. Turned out the float switch was just clogged with lint. He cleaned everything out and did numerous tests and said it should be good to go. He also gave us some good advice. Would definitely call again.

They solved all my plumbing issues. The upstairs toilet needed a new wax ring. It took quite awhile for them to unclog one sink. We provided the dishwasher and disposal and they installed them. The only complaint I have is he did not clean up his messes very well. I spent about a half hour cleaning the floors and counter where he worked. Cheaper if I did it than the plumber.

They were really, really careful to be clean in the house. I appreciated that that they kept everything very clean.

Nothing much to say, he did a fantastic job. He explained what was happening and answered my questions about the worst case scenarios regarding digging up the yard and replacing the pipe. I should be able to get away with regular maintenance and not have to replace the pipe. My only negative part of the experience would be cleanup. I had to do that. But, he was very conscious the whole time, so it took me 30 seconds with a damp towel to cleanup. Otherwise, I would have rated the quality at A. So, I guess A-, if that were available. I would hire them again. Yet, since they did such a good job, I shouldn't have to.

The gentleman arrived on time. He made some suggestions as to the type of disposal we should purchase. We ended up going with the more expensive one, which is quieter. We are very happy with it. He came on time to talk to my wife about the different disposals. He brought the one we didn't end up going with, so he went to the store and picked up the one that we wanted. He didn't charge us for the trip charge; just the time. We thought that was more than reasonable. He is pretty friendly. He took his shoes off when they came in. He was concerned about keeping the house cleaned and not damaged by the snow and water that was on his shoes. He cleaned up after he was finished. He left things as you would expect and without incidents. They probably aren't the least expensive, but they give you a good value for your money. It was more than we wanted to spend, but he gave us options and we went with the more expensive.

I called one week ahead of 12/23 to schedule an appointment since I needed to be home from work to provide access to the house. I was told that for such a small job, no appointments were made and to call the day before. I called 9AM 12/22 to make the appointment for 12/23 and got the answering machine. I had not heard back by 3PM, so called again. Got a live person and scheduled the appointmet between 10-12 on 12/23. At 11AM the technican arrived and tightned up the faucet. The total for the service was $145, but I was given a $50 discount due to the closeness of the call. I think this was fair since it took no more than 15 minutes to tighten up the faucet and since this company installed the faucet originally. The workmanship is only warranted for 30 days so I knew I would pay something. Personnally I think if the faucet had been installed correctly originally, the need for a return call 4 months later may not have been necessary. I am just happy the faucet is tight and does not rotate on its axis when using.

We called and they sent a plumber over that very morning to inspect our sump pump. He was very pleasant and on time. He was helpful and explained what needed to be done. He had all of the necessary parts with him and he efficiently replaced our sump pump. He went above and beyond when he came back to inspect the system when we reported a foul smell which we thought was coming from the sump pump. It turns out it wasn't related to the sump pump at all, but he helped us identify the problem.

They were on time. They did a good job and we haven't had any issues with our plumbing. They did accidentally leave the lights on in the basement.

I had another issue with my water heater once. Although I didn’t use Affordable Plumbing at that time, as they didn’t repair that particular brand of water heater, they were very helpful. They gave me information on who I should call and they even called me back to check whether I was taken care of. They have great customer service. The ladies, whom I talk to when I call there, are just wonderful and are very helpful. They get back to you when they say they would.

OVERALL I WAS PLEASED WITH THE WORK THAT THEY DID. THEY RESPONDED QUICKLY TO MY CALL AND ARRIVED AT MY WITHIN THE HOUR. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF HEATERS.
