A & B Concrete

A & B Concrete was the most responsive contractor I contacted and got me quotes quickly. I wasn’t given much notice before the came out to start the job, but that was due to on-and-off rainy weather. Once they started the job, Jack and his crew were helpful with all my questions and professional.

I reached out to a handful of Concrete Contractors for a job in my backyard (removal of 18' diameter concrete slab, prep of new 20' x 25' concrete slab). I spoke with Jack multiple times and he was very polite, profession and responsive with information. Work was not done, as I went with another contractor, but did appreciate the level of quality and quick responses I did receive with Jack while I was scoping out contractors for the job.

Concrete cracked the first day. Crack was 1/4 inch wide. Promising to repair it in two days. That was June 2018, multiple email back and forth promising to fix it. Fall, promise to repair before winter. Never did, email, they say repair first thing in the spring. Never showed up so I had to call them. Promise to fix again did not show. Finally! They came and said they were going to calk it. Now 3/4 inch wide with 5 more cracks. Told them they were going to replace it. Finally, repoured in June, one year later. Never returned to remove forms. Several people told me they did quality work 6-8 years ago. Not now! Don’t hire them unless you want the poorest quality work out there.

Excellent! From start to finish Jack and the crew of A & B concrete made the process smooth and I was extremely satisfied with the results! Crew was hardworking and respectful of our property. Job was two days from start to finish and again, I love the work they did. I’d hire them again in a heartbeat!

I filled out the online form requesting information and received no call back. I called and left a message the next day and never received a call back.

Work was done promptly at a reasonable price. Expert suggestions offered to improve aesthetics and functionality. Would definately hire again.

This is a great company to work with -- the guys are all remarkably hard-working and easy to approach with questions or concerns. Jack, the owner, responded quickly to my phone call in February and came out within a couple of days to give me a quote. Over the next few months, he responded asap to any questions I had or changes I wanted to ask him about. The work started on the Friday before Memorial Day; the crew worked all that day, half of Saturday, all day on Tuesday, and finished up on Wednesday, May 31. The end result has not only widened my steps and driveway (thanks to the wing walls being gone), but has really spruced up my property's appearance as well. Extra plus: I was very impressed with the trouble the crew took to rip out the old concrete with a minimum of disturbance to the landscape and lawn; likewise, they removed and replaced the water-proofing cuff in the garage perfectly, and they added fill dirt around the new driveway and walkways as needed. It went well! While I was hoping for a quick job, it was VERY quick. They came the day after our quote and began grading. At 1:00 that same day the pump for concrete became available and they poured the same day. We only wish they would have been a little more careful with where they dragged/raked the concrete, as it's all to one side, but I am sure with use this will wear to the same as the other areas. They did do a slight grade, for drainage too, but there are two spots that will probably collect some water - not a huge deal.

Jack from A and B called me back promptly after I left a message. He came by for an estimate and left it for me. The driveway had some complicated issues, and is an unusual shape. We scheduled the work, and they actually started two days early. Jack and the guys could not have been nicer or more professional. They did an excellent job at a very reasonable price given the very large size and high slope of the driveway. I would recommend them to anyone.

Left two messages about a week apart requesting a quote - last message was left more than two weeks ago with still no callback. Disappointing giving the previous good reviews.

A&B Concrete did an AMAZING job! Highly recommended - very prompt, responsive, affordable, and professional. Jack was out here for an estimate the same week and started the tear out and had a new drive the next week! Great communication and was a better deal for everything than just mudjacking our garage floor alone. Everything looks fantastic could not be happier.

It went well. Jack and his crew were professional in dealing with me. They were prompt and hard working, but friendly. I appreciated being consulted when a situation arose where an area could've been poured a couple of different ways. Jack was very flexible about changing the layout of the sidewalk when I realized I hadn't communicated my idea clearly enough. During the initial meeting with him, I inquired about using colored concrete. After a little discussion, he suggested a color. It turned out to be a great choice ... not stark concrete white ... a tone that blends will with the house/surroundings. I've received several compliments over the past year on the color. For those who are curious as to why I waited a year to write this review, having the concrete poured rather late in the season, I wanted to be sure it lasted through the winter well. It did. There was no heaving or cracking of the concrete. The only damage that occurred from the winter was some scraping of concrete at the skirt from the county snow plow...who was plowing wider than the road.

A & B Concrete was promt, and courteous. They were also affordable compared to other providers. They provided insight as to what I could to further protect my front porch. A & B also were able to provide this service more expediantly than other providers I called.

Dealt with Jack. Once he realized he'd missed sections of concrete that had been discussed wasn't particularily apologetic. Wasted my time.

The men were on time and very professional. The owner, Jack, solved a problem I was having with my front steps The sidewalk had sunk. This made the steps uneven in height and a real fall hazard. He raised and sloped the sidewalk. This made the steps equal height and much easier to climb. The added benefit was it makes the water flow away from the house which we all know is a good thing. I also had him evaluate my garage walls which were beginning to chip. He said the walls were fine and were still solid. I thought it was very honest of him. The work was done in a few hours and looks great.

I received a quick response to my inquiry. The service could not been better. They were prompt - actually arrived early and could not have been nicer. My new front porch looks awesome! They cleaned up everything and left the area better than when they arrived! The guys who did the work were super friendly and made me feel like they really cared and wanted to do a great job! I requested an estimate for some concrete work in April 2014. When I spoke with the owner Jack, I noted that I had to be here when he came to give me the estimate as I had some specific things I wanted quoted. He agreed. Because I have had contractors just show up to estimate the work without me being here, I relayed to him that under no circumstance was he to show up and quote a general quote, as it would waste both our time. Well he showed up and provided the quote when I was not available. He never called ahead or knocked on the door (I was home but did not know he was out there). I am not sure why my request was so difficult to understand but apparently, it was. Therefore, there was a lot of going back and forth trying to get a quote on what I actually wanted done. Early June 2014, I called him to let him know that I wanted to use him to complete the work. He said he had enough work. While I was in the middle of a sentence, he actually hung up the phone on me. What is it with the concrete contractors that they are so unbelievably unprofessional? I too am a business owner and would never treat a customer in such a manner. I then called back and it went to voice mail. I left a message that if we were disconnected to please call me back to discuss him contacting me if he had a cancellation or for the job to possibly be done in 2015. He never called back which confirmed my suspicions that he purposely hung up on me. He has a good rating on Angie?s list but I would never recommend someone get an estimate from this person. He doesn?t listen to his customers, is argumentative, and hanging up on a customer that is trying to hire you, is unacceptable. My recommendation is to go with a contract that knows basic listening skills and is not so unprofessional and obnoxious that they hang up on customers. Nobel was the most professional of all the estimates I received. I was loathe to post this review since I posted one other review that was much nicer than this one and the contractor called me up harassing me that I had better change my review to only show the positive. I decided I don't like being bullied and bad customer service coupled with being highly unprofessional needs to be reported.

At first a couple delayed calls but once we got rolling the process went very smoothly. I was in California at the time of the pour, but I was updated with photos and a timeline. It was perfect.

I have been very happy with the overall service by A & B Concrete. I used e-mail as communication and responses were fast. The overall price was competitive and I am very happy with the quality of their work. They were also very courteous and considerate of obstacles on our lawn and kept the damage to a minimum (I was asked several times whether a Bobcat could be used and which way it should go to leave the least tracks). The smallest job they will do is for $1,200 which is essentially 150 sqft of flat concrete.

I have a double wide driveway, leading to my two stall garage, plus additional parking for two cars on the side. The driveway was put in when the house was built, in 1975. It was cracked, some areas were un-even, and water had begun to wash out the dirt under part of it. I also wanted part of it extended, for extra parking. The A and B crew tore out the old concrete, and hauled it away. Then they put down a gravel base, leveled it and packed it down. After putting in the forms, the concrete was poured, and smoothed and finished. Then I got the fun part - watching concrete dry! (Yes, it IS more fun than watching paint dry!) The driveway looks Great! The final price was exactly what they quoted. The only problem was rain delays, which turned it into a 3 day project, but you can't fight mother-nature... -Mike D.

They came in and took the old driveway out along with the piece of sidewalk without damaging any of the other pieces, made sure that the base was good. They formed everything up, put new expansion joint new to garage door and poured that day. By the time that I go home from work they were just finishing up and had everything taped off, it took them something like 5 hours to do the job and they did a good job. If here would be one complaint that I have is were they ended up cleaning their tools, which isn't the end of the world but I think they should have asked the other person in the house

After purchasing an aluminum shed on-line with a flooring kit, I decided that I'd rather it had a concrete floor. So, not knowing who to call, I got an Angie's List account just to see who were the most reputable concrete contractors in the area. The highest rated one turned out to be A & B Concrete. I called them on a Friday morning and left a voice mail detailing what I needed. When they returned my call I learned that they didn't do jobs under $1500 and that my small slab would only be a $600-$700 job. However, he would ask Mike, one of his crew members, if he'd like to do a side job and he'd have him call me back. While I waited for Mike to call me back, I called a couple of other contractors and they were either booked til spring or they never returned my call. By Tuesday I hadn't heard from Mike and I wasn't having any luck finding anyone else willing to do the job anytime soon. So I called A & B back and left a message that I hadn't heard from Mike and did that mean he didn't want the job? Mike called me back within the hour. He said that he was available to do the job that Thursday. I asked him to stop by and see what he had to deal with before he gave me a firm quote. I had already done most of the excavation necessary but the place I wanted the slab was slightly sloped and in an area that a cement truck couldn't get to so he would have to wheelbarrow in the concrete. He stopped and looked over the job site while I was at work and he called me with a very reasonable price and I told him to go ahead and do it that Thursday. He said he and his crew would be there between 8:00 & 8:30 a.m., after I had already gone to work, so just leave a check between the doors. My wife was rather dubious about leaving a check for someone I hadn't met and before the work was completed. If A & B weren't the highest rated contractor on Angie's List I probably wouldn't have done that. Even though Mike was doing this as a side job, as far as I was concerned, he was representing A & B concrete and if I wasn't satisfied they'd hear about it, especially in this review. When I got home from work on Thursday and saw their handy work I thought Mike and his crew had done an excellent job. It was the exact size I wanted it, 8' x 10' 1" (the base of the shed I purchased was 121" wide). It was perfectly level and they cleaned up nicely without a single concrete 'dropping' anywhere. Outstanding job!

The owner didn't stick to the quote very well. When the removal was done he wanted money,which was not stated on the quote. When it was time to install the concrete it went well until a half of wheelbarrow of concrete went in the pool and made a mess. Overall we are very happy with the job, just some small problems along the way.

With the exception of playing "phone tag" for a couple of days, the entire process of this job went much better than we had hoped for. We are used to things going wrong, but Jack and his crew made sure everything went well and turned out beautiful! We had a tree root in the way of our original plan, but thankfully they are very good at their job, and Jack right away came up with an alternative plan, which worked out perfectly. They were on site just before 7:30am and worked in EXTREME heat & humidity until about 3 or 4pm. The job was finished in 2 days!

A & B Concrete did an excellent job creating a new sidewalk leading from our front porch to the driveway, just as we requested. The owner provided a fair quote for the services provided and completed the job quick and efficiently. The employees were all very personable as well. The owner came back the next day and checked out the sidewalk and removed the concrete forms. We love the job they did, would definitely use for any future concrete jobs, and would refer them to anyone needing A+ concrete work.
