Description of Work: I took advantage of the $79 special to have an Energy Audit for my home. The process went well, with a 3 phases. The initial visit was fine and we determined what the goal of the process was: to see if there was any overlooked improvement for energy efficiency. Phase 2 was the actual audit, which was conducted very professionally. The final meeting was to review the results. I gave a rating of B because the report used terms and formulas that were not fully explained. I did believe their results, which showed that the house was very "air-tight" and thus not wasting energy. Therefore, there is no need for any follow-on projects to be done to the home.

Description of Work: We decided not to have the work done. Though the analysis, presentation and rationale were all straightforward and made sense generally, the total cost of the proposed work relative to the potential energy savings in dollars and cents indicated it would take over 25 years (at current energy prices) to recapture the expense. That just didn't make sense for us at this time.

Description of Work: Their assessment matched what I already thought needed to be done in my house. I needed attic insulation. Their quote was higher than an average insulation company but I did believe the consultant and technician that they would do it right in there. In the end, I didnt have the money to put towards it but I would consider them again when I do have the money.

Description of Work: Their visit was a cold call. They made changes to my water heater settings so that there was no hot water, without telling us. They proposed changes on the top floor of the house that would have made it unusable. They used high pressure approaches. We didn't use them.

Description of Work: I got a call (from a woman in Las Vegas) offering an "energy savings assessment". I specifically asked if the company she represented actually sold products in this line. She fumbled, and said no, she was scheduling these appointments which Virginia and local electric companies were paying for to help consumers reduce their energy costs. She said that the program would determine eligibility for tax breaks and would only be offered if the cost of recommended services we less than the savings they could identify. |We had the appointment. We told the young man upfront that we had replaced our heat and non-working A/C units the previous week, but we were interested in what other things we could do to reduce our costs for our heating and cooling comfort. We told him we'd like his inspection and recommendations, but that we had contractors in mind to do any work needed. A review of the company's web site after the initial call had led be to suspect this company was sending a salesman. |The visit was much shorter and less detailed than I had been told, and there was no written material left with us. I do not recall that he made any notations during the visit. We do need attic insulation increased, heat remediation on the lower level for comfort, and a window repaired which has lost its Argon. He said he would suggest a window repair company, but left without mentioning anyone. The caller had promised a review of tax incentives and rebates on electric bills. Neither was mentioned. All in all, a very disappointing waste of our time, and I fault the original caller, and would have appreciated a true representation.

Description of Work: The Mark Group came as scheduled, performed the audit, and I still need to follow up with them for a follow up visit to discuss the results. However, I was told by the initial inspector that I would not require any additional updates to my home as he did not see any issues.

Description of Work: Mark Group did the insulation job in my home. Unfortunately, they finished the job in early spring, when I can't test the before and after scenerios. The finishing is so impressive, I'm pretty much certain I'll feel the difference next winter. My home supposed to(from the door blower test) gain about 34% efficiency after their work.

Description of Work: Mark Group did an excellent job at airsealing my entire house. Job was extremely professional and complete. Included attic insulation which was done very well-- much better than my expectation, including proper setup and ventilation of eves and rigid board on sides of walkable area in attic. Really nice job.

Description of Work: They did an evaulation of my property. The person that did the work showed me some things that I might consider getting done. But told me they would review all of the data and then complete a report. We scheduled a follow-up meeting to review the findings. At the follow-up meeting a different person showed up and did not have the results. It was a waste of my time and we had to schedule another appointment. When I did have the follow-up meeting, they proposed a lot more extensive work than I was looking for. I passed on having the work done.

Description of Work: Full energy audit which detailed where we were losing energy in our home. They then sealed the basement, crawlspace and attic with various insulations. They were very professional, on time and clean.

Description of Work: I have an older house with several areas that are colder than the rest of the home. After the work those areas are still cold and I did not see any savings in my heating bill. Things that were discussed on how to get insulation into flat roofs changed when the actual installers came causing a lot of additional work for me. I had to get a new hot water heater (2K) when my older one was only a few years old due to venting issues.
