I live in a row home in Philadelphia. My second floor was always cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I had read about Mark Group in the Philadelphia Inquirer so I called. Everyone that I dealt with from the first phone call to the installation was very knowledgeable and helped me make these improvements to my home in the way that best worked for me. I considered the low-interest financing option that they offered as a certified Energy Works contractor but I decided to just make the upfront investment since it wasn't actually that much. The process started, for me, with a Mark Group Home Performance Adviser coming to check my home and tell me ways that I could save energy. About 2 days later I got formal recommendations with pricing. We prioritized what would make the biggest impact in my home and I was able to schedule the improvements for the following week. The crew that came to install was probably the nicest and most educated contractors that have step foot in my house. And though I got a laugh out of their booties, I was happy they kept my house clean. The did some work in my basement as well as sealed and insulated my attic from my roof. They were gone by 3 PM and I could feel the difference before they left. Now that we're almost through the summer I thought I would right up a report since my upstairs has also been easier to keep cool, even in the heat waves. I think I've saved about 15% on my utility bills. Great group of people- would and have recommended them to friends and family.

My company gets a discount for Energy audit services from Mark Group. The price of their most comprehensive energy audit was reduced significantly (from about $500) to $51. My company got a $99 discount, and the energy audit program currently in effect for surrounding counties paid for the rest. Sounded like a great idea.I signed up and scheduled the audit in July. The Service rep showed up a bit late, but was professional. The audit took about 3 hours. The service rep was supposed to email me the report two days later - nothing. A week later...nothing. Two weeks later - I get a call from the Service manager stating the rep who conduced my audit was since let go from the company and all of my paperwork was missing. Thus, they had to redo the entire audit. Ok, frustrating but ok. The next available Saturday was four weeks later - fine, my appointment was confirmed. Although I wrote them a check, it was never submitted by the service rep and thus, never cashed.Three days before the redo appointment, I get a call stating that they couldn't remember what was going on and why I was scheduled for another audit. They also didn't know how/if I had paid for the appointment! I reminded them of the conversation that we had and why we had to redo the audit. They told me that they had no one to perform the audit on the date scheduled (one guy, worked last weekend, not sure if he could work this weekend...???). I said, forget it and cancelled the appointment.The entire experience was handled very poorly. The company seems to have few resources, with little effective processes to manage the business effectively. I would not recommend working with them, and will never utilize their services again. Update: The President of the company called me to apologize for the situation. I also received an email from my original contact person at the company apologizing. She offered to reschedule the audit at no cost to me. I thanked them for the effort, but declined. Updated my rating from F to D based on these actions.

From start to finish, they were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. They are indeed much more reasonably priced than their competitors, and they readily tell you where you don't need additional insulation and where you do. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. They were an absolute pleasure.
