Excellent job. We understand that most movers require 2 weeks notice but Two Men & A Truck were able to fit us in with a two day's notice. Although it was the second scheduled move for the day, we got lucky that they had an opening so soon. They were late but that was to be expected when not the first move of the day. Once they got here, they got right to work and you would never know it was their second move of the day. The crew worked tirelessly and were very friendly. The team leader, Joe was a top notch professional and deserves a raise. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Moved my 91 year old dad from home in Sterling Heights to condo in Fraser MI. Moved over 30 boxes, bedroom set, living room furniture, office furniture. Also moved big, old piano from back room to garage.

I got a confirmation call and email prior to the move asking if I needed anything added? We had even moved a few things ourselves that had been on the original estimate. Three movers came on time and started working quickly and methodically as soon as they arrived. My furniture was securely wrapped and moved with great care. I went down to the basement to show them what was to be moved from there. No problem, no complaints. They worked great together and I was very impressed. It's the first time I've used a mover, having always used family and friends in the past... Lots of complaining, some damage. So this was a refreshing change. When the truck was loaded I followed them to my new place. I asked if they unwrapped and set things up? They said they would do whatever I would like. I am handicapped and it was great to have this support as well. As I said, this is the way to go. I would never move myself again. I got a recommendation from a friend who's sister moves frequently because of her job. She has never been disappointed. After reading some reviews about other movers, I admit to being more than a bit nervous. I was afraid the cost would go up after the move was in process. The estimate was very realistic and the guys did everything they could to move things along.
Description of Work: I got an estimate over the phone based on what items I wanted moved. I was only having furniture moved. We discussed how many men, and what criteria is used to make an estimate. I had some very large piece brought up from the basement that were going back into a very tight squeeze in another basement.

I did not have any problems at all. They were on time and flexible to work with me and my schedule. They put everything where I wanted and then were done and gone. I had dealt with Two Men and A Truck in the past and some of the other companies had quotes that were a lot higher. So I went with someone I was more familiar with.

Everyone from office staff to movers were professional and attentive to details. Movers D.J., Marcus and Melvin arrived promptly at the time assigned. Each introduced themselves and shook hands with us, then D.J. discussed paperwork and asked for a tour. Once completed, they began a methodical process in moving our belongings. Special attention was given to avoiding walking on carpet where runners were not placed. They did a great job in wrapping all furniture not only in blankets, but also in plastic wrap.. They remembered the little items that we hastily pointed out that also needed moving and thought they probably forgot but were pleasantly surprised when they arrived at their destination. Upon arrival at the new house, I had asked they try to avoid the carpeting as much as possible because it was new. They were exceptional in their efforts and ran runners in areas where I had asked. None of these young men wasted time and were exceptionally strong. To avoid moving our piano over the hardwood floor to the designated carpeted area, they lifted the piano and intentionally avoided the hardwood floor overhang into the sunken living room and then asked if I wanted the piano realigned to its assigned spot. Each consistently asked where we would like each item placed and then followed our requests exactly oftentimes double checking to see if we were satisfied. At the end of the move, we were asked if there was anything we wanted relocated or if we had any other requests. Because iof their thoroughness, we had no requests. We were very happy with this company and especially D.J., Marcus and Melvin - very polite, courteous and industrious young men. I would highly recommend this team to others.

The move went horrible. The moving company broke and damaged many of my belongings. I have contacted the company regarding the issue and spoke to the owner Dave and they did not want anything to do with me. I explained to Dave how many of my personal belongings have been damaged and he said that I owed him money and that's all that he was concerned about. One of the workers that came out stated that I had been overcharged by the owner and brought that up to the owner and he said that the pricing did not concern the worker. I let the owner know that the workers were taking mulpitle breaks and using my microwave to heat up food that they had bought. Dave the owner is a bully, he is very rude and I beleive all he wanted to do was rip me off and take my money. This company has no respect for your belongings. They are extremely unprofessional and never took the time to come out and see how big of a project it was going to be. They were not prepared for this big of a job and I have not located some of my belongings that I beleive were stolen. This was a complete disaster and I would avoid using this company at all costs.

Response from Two Men & A Truck
We did perform a move for [member name removed] on November 2, 2013. The move did go longer than estimated, but the customer had more items then she had told us during our phone call with her to give an estimate. We go through a series of questions with the customer to try and get an accurate picture of the items we are to move or services needed. In this case, we understand after discussing the move with our movers that the customer had a lot more than originally conveyed to us. We do rely on our customers to accurately tell us what will be moved. If they don’t feel comfortable with this process we do provide free onsite estimates. Our staff that answers the phones and talks with the customers are very experienced and if the customer is uneasy, the customer can request an in home estimate at no cost or obligation. We do most of our estimates over the phone and our accuracy rate is over 90%. I am not sure about the over charging that the mover is stating that the owner said we were doing. Our rates do not very from customer to customer. I will attach a letter that is emailed to all our customers which discusses our rates and all of our policies. A damage claim is one of our policies that is addressed in the confirmation letter. In this letter which she received it states that a bill must be paid in full before we will address any claims. Dave is not the owner of the company and he was trying to collect from her so we could address the issues. It states that all boxes packed by owner are the customer’s responsibility and we are not liable for contents. Also, that all boxes must be closed and we do not take any bags. We took both for the customer trying to accommodate her. [member name removed] did call and said she was not happy with the way her move went and that she needed help because the movers did not put items where she needed them to be placed(the movers said she was not directing them). We sent out two movers to help place all of her items where she wanted them. She was not charged for that service even though we believe part of it was her responsibility. We were trying to do the right thing by correcting what happened on the day of the move. When I spoke to [member name removed] she had not paid her bill in full. I tried to explain to her that part of our claims process is that the bill has to be paid in full. She was threatening to write a bad review on Angie’s List if I did not agree that she did not owe us money. The day of the move she must have been happy with the movers she gave them each a tip. When I asked her why, she said she did not realize that things were not placed where she wanted them. She was not working with the two movers as they were unloading to tell them exactly where she wanted items placed. She was downsizing from a condo to an apartment and she had more stuff than would reasonably fit in her new place. She was upset that a sofa would not fit through a door to go where she wanted it, so she told me after that she did not want them to take it originally, but they insisted that I had to go because it was on the paperwork then they would have been able to get other smaller items that were left behind. There were items that did not get moved that day because they would not fit on the truck to accommodate the extra work she needed to have done. If we would have just moved what she had told us it should have only take about five hours. On the day of the move my driver called me and told me that [member name removed] was not able to pay her bill in full when they were complete. I told him to collect what she could pay at that time and we would work out the rest later. She wrote a check and claimed that the movers lost it before they left, then rewrote another one. I will reimburse her for the stop payment charge; I will need a copy from the bank. I was out of town when the move took place. The office staff sent to movers out after she called and complained about her belonging not being placed where she wanted them. If her mirror was not attached the first day, she should have had them do it the second day when they were there. When I returned from being out of town I tried to contact her multiple times and both telephone number were disconnected and she did not give us an email address. It was when she called several weeks later that she said that some of her items were damaged and tried to negotiate not paying the rest of her bill. As far as some of her items being stolen, I think she is trying to blame us for the things that were not moved. She initialed her work order that states she inspect the truck and verified all items have been removed from the truck. In regards to the resolution, [member name removed] did not convey to use in a reasonable amount of time that she had damaged belongings. It is once again stated in our pre-move letter that she did sign that she received, read and understood. I will highlight all areas of concern. She is also claiming missing items but she is not aware what they may be. It is hard for us to address this issue without more facts. I feel that we went beyond what we should have done for this customer. We strive to exceed all of our customers’ expectations. Our franchise location had a 97% referral rate and 4.76 out of 5 overall satisfaction score. Sometimes we do get put in situations that we cannot make a customer happy no matter what we do. After our original mover broke down, we frantically called two men and a truck for a same day move. They helped us out by calling in three men on their day off and got us a truck late in the afternoon. The men were hard workers but in their haste damaged some furniture in the rush. Two men and a truck management denied the damage claim since the first mover damaged some furniture first. This was not true, the original mover's damage was documented but Two men and a truck is saying that we missed it, even when their movers did not see any damage when they were loading the truck. Two men and a truck is taking the low road with poor customer service, the customer does not come first when money is concerned.

It was easily the hottest and most humid day of the summer. The 2 gentlemen that moved me NEVER once slowed down or complained about the heat or their job. It was quite admirable as I would not have been moving that day if I had not hired a company to do the work for me. I forced them to take breaks and stay hydrated as I was worried for them as it was that hot! They were very friendly and personable. They took great care of all of my items with no problems or damage. I will definitely use them again.

The guys showed up on time. They were very friendly, but not very motivated. I even paid for an extra guy just in case there was more than I had told them. But due to the lack of and quot;fireand quot; under these guy's butts, they almost went over the quoted time. My biggest issue, was the damage. I was willing to accept that it was a group of younger guys, and teens move at their own pace. The problems really began when the owner was contacted about the damage. He was happy to fix anything and everything that was damage, with one catch, that I use his furniture pro. Well his furniture pro only can make it out this way occasionally, and only on VERY short notice. I mean it is 11 AM and he calls because he is heading to my home and I am in Lansing... the call will go something like and quot;Hi, I'm heading out to your house to fix the damaged furniture, are you home?and quot; I'll say no, and then he will make it out like I don't want my furniture fixed. So, I guess if I say I will pay my moving bill, just talk to my buddy. If he never pays, that's ok too, right? Again, great people at Two Men and a Truck, but poor Integrity. And I mean integrity by the Army's definition :Do what’s right, legally and morally.

They did a fantastic job. They cheerfully worked about 1.5 hours longer than originally planned. Whe I called the next day asking about a small wooden screw that had fallen out of a table - they found and searched the trucj and found it wedged in a corner where one normally wouldn't see it. Then they had it immediately delivered to my house. Again - cheerfully. These folks are great!
