DTW Designed To Move moved us on December 27, 2023. What a disaster. First off, the two young men that moved us were not professional movers, just two young kids with no job skill whatsoever. They were very careless and caused quite a bit of damage to many pieces of our furniture. We got a new bedroom set last fall and one of the men dropped our nightstand on the way into our house and took a big chunk out of the top of it. His response was, well this will have to be replaced. It was replaced at our expense, $500 later. The original nightstand that they damaged went into the garage. It was that bad. We have an Ethan Allen chaise lounge in our living room. Instead of looking at the lounge first, he just lifted the seat cover off and ripped the area where it was hooked together. This left a rip in the side of the cushion. Both the men never said anything about it when it happened. When they put it down in our new home I noticed it and questioned them. Their response was that most lounge seat covers weren’t like this. Apparently they have never moved quality furniture before. Once again, we had to pay a seamstress to repair it. Now for the big problem. Our wooden furniture (Ethan Allen) which we have in our den, living room, and bedroom was scratched in multiple places. I pointed this out to the movers and their response was it’s distressed wood and they didn’t do the damage. I know my furniture and have had a professional come out before to fix some areas that were scratched. The work was so well done that you couldn’t see any scratches when he was finished. When they left for the day, I called the owner. I was told that I should expect damage when we move. Well, this is our third house that we moved into and we never had this problem before. I asked him if he would come out and look at the damage. He did come out the following week. With him he had wood marker pens to fix the scratches and indentations. What he should have had done was hire a professional to come out and fix them. His response was we didn’t get the insurance that we could have gotten through him. I was speechless. He did say that he would give us $100 for all the damage. After repeatedly following up with them for the money, I have given up. I don’t think they ever intended to reimburse us. The $100 means nothing to me. Our furniture is scratched and they don’t care. Please think twice about hiring them. Their advertising looked really professional. I wish we had never had them move us

The guys were just plain amazing!!! They could not have been more kind or considerate!! If you need movers - these are your guys!!!!

The whole team at Designed to Move MI was great! Stewart was very responsive, flexible and detailed in the initial evaluation and quote. Chad and Jordan, with pack, load and delivery, were polite, thorough and efficient. They were very respectful with me and my belongings and handled everything carefully. I highly recommend this team (and I already have)!

Have moved a few times now with D2M and I’ve always been happy with them!

Family business was important to me. Movers cared and were extremely helpful. Moved 600 miles and went off without a hitch.

We did have two in home estimates prior to the move date and both of the gentleman who came to our home were very friendly and knowledgeable and put us at ease. Overall I feel the moving process was quite easy with this company

They were very good actually, I mean for that size. We’ve have had corporate moves, where I never lifted a finger. Things were boxed and I just pointed, but we paid for this one and it was a small company and I was perfectly satisfied.

Many, many important belongings were left behind. According to my neighbor, once I left the house, they stopped their packing and loading and left. They left windows open, curtains open, and expensive belongings in plain sight of the windows. There was breakage of glass which was not cleaned up. As far as what was missing, it was ridiculous. I received my flatware, minus the teaspoons. I received my dishes, minus the bowls. Much of the porceline collectibles I speciffically wanted them to pack were left behind. I was told by the owner of the company, Rich, that the truck was full and that was the reason so much was left behind. When I asked why he took the job if they did not have a truck that could accommodate it, he stated that there is no way to know if everything will fit. And they simply left what they said wouldn't. At one point he promised a partial refund. At our last conversation, he said the best he could do is to offer to move the rest of my things at a 10% discount. We moved out of the house in Dearborn because as two disabed women, we could not keep up with the cleaning and upkeep. When there was a complaint by one of the packers that there was old dog feces (hidden out of sight by the 2 yorkshire terriers my sister owns, I made a point of staying up until 3 a.m. the night before the move cleaning and scrubbing the floors so they guys would not have to deal with any messes. All I want is half my money back for the half of the job they did not do. I also have photographs to back up this statement, and I am happy to provide them as evidence. I would have paid another company more to have my things brought to me if Designed To Move would have told me that they could not fit my belongings in the rented truck they used. They admitted to me that the truck they rented is not safe for moving delicate crystal and porcelin, that the shock absorbers on the truck were not good, and that it is not unusual for them to leave behind whatever does not fit. They told me these things AFTER the move. As it was, I wound up paying more anyway, making to 14-hour trips to retrieve what things I could fit in my Honda CR-V. I have not yet received the house key back from the company. Nor have I received compensation for breakage of a bedroom mirror, gouges in the wall in my new house left by their movers, or the cost of hiring someone to move the fragile antique dressers and the leather sofa from my garage to my house. They have treated us terribly. If anyone considers hiring them in the future, I would tell them to beware, have ANYONE else do the packing, and watch every box and piece of furniture get moved onto the truck. I made the mistake of leaving, with Chris' assurance that everything would be taken care of. Never again.
