The Sound Vision

Everything was great.

Jonathan is the owner and he is the one who coordinated the transaction and he assisted Julie with the installation. We initially contacted Sound Vision via Angie's List (selected him due to location and reviews) through email and he responded within one hour. We set a date/time for the same week we contacted him, and he came out, did some basics and gave us his recommendations and an estimate. We paid $1500 up front for the materials (we compared the cost of the materials in the quote he provided us with same materials on the internet) and they were reasonably priced. He obtained the materials in a couple of days and we were able to get the system installed within the week. They said what they did and did what they said; they were responsive to questions. We also have two, large older dogs and they were great with them as well. We would definitely use them again.

Estimate and initial contact was very good

Back in May, I spent several weeks researching local Home Theater/Home Automation companies for my A/V project and I quickly realized I was comparing every company I came across to The Sound Vision. It was then that I decided to give Jon a call and discuss my project. From the moment we had our initial design consultation I knew The Sound Vision was the right company for our project. Jon definitely understood my need for killer audio and video but he also wanted to make sure my wife was comfortable with how it worked within the space. The options he came up with met both of our needs and fell within budget. The end result is an amazing family room home theater that seamlessly blends into the room and, more importantly, blows you away! The Crestron system controls the family room and patio admirably and is very easy to use, which speaks volumes about the talent of The Sound Vision. Installing Crestron products, I have come to learn, is an art and unless you have the right installer/programmer you'll likely have a poor functioning system. Since the project in May I have had The Sound Vision add some additional pieces of equipment to my system and they are always happy to help no matter how small the project is. I'm even having The Sound Vision setup up my parents existing audio/video equipment in their new house. My parents have been very impressed by their professionalism and work product. My dad is already talking about having Jon out for another project. I highly recommend The Sound Vision. Jon and Joy are a pleasure to have in our home while they were working on a project. They are extremely professional, clean, and knowledgeable. There are many companies that can do this work but there is only one that I would have work in my home: The Sound Vision!

Kept increasing cost of the project. Lost credibility with us.

Jonathon installed a home theater system in my sewing room. He did an excellent job of hooking everything up. Additionally he took the time to explain how to use the system and the remote control that accompanies it. I would recommend him highly and will use his services again in the future.

I plan on using them for life. He's excellent and I plan on getting more added on here in the near future.

We had a TERRIBLE experience with Jonathon and I would not recommend him to anyone unless you want a nightmare! At first he appeared to be professional and a nice guy. We started out with a consultation and discussed my needs. I gave him a budget of $10,000 and he came back to me with 3 options the least expensive option of which was about $13,000. He convinced me I would need to spend about $20,000 to get any type of descent system so reluctantly I agreed. During the process he kept ?forgetting? about things he didn?t order which kept costing additional money such as hardware equipment ($180), iPhone apps ($100), electrician ($675), second receiver, etc. He promised that the solution would meet several different requirements I had but it turned out not to and had a lot of issues. Despite doubling my initial budget, he would often make comments that I purchased a ?cheap? solution so that?s why it did not work. I?m sorry but spending $20,000 is not cheap to me and I don't appreciate being made felt so! I felt like he pulled a bait and switch on us. His communication was very poor as I was never clear on when he was coming to work on the system or what was being done, what was getting fixed, what of my issues he was aware of, when he was coming next, what he just completely ignored or blew off or how much longer it was going to take?.it has been going on for months. He mentioned several times that his customer service was bad because his business was picking up. How is that fair to someone he?s already started? He went back and forth on so many things one moment saying it would work and the next saying he never said that. He made holes in our walls and ran wires that he didn?t need to asking us to take care of the costs for repairs. We would never know when he was coming and so would show up unexpectedly. Then I sent him a schedule of days/times that worked for us for him to come and he was offended. I asked for a list of all the equipment I?ve purchased to date and he said he would not provide me with one since that was not worth his time. Is it not fair to receive a detailed receipt for items you purchase? He asked for a list of issues so I sent to him, received no response and the next email I received was that he wanted to close everything out and wanted full payment? Does that sound right to anyone? Hiring Jonathon was one of the biggest mistakes I?ve made and I really regret my decision. As I mentioned above, he didn?t complete the work and wants me to pay the entire balance. When I requested to come to a compromise, he didn?t respond then remotely logged into my personal system without my permission and just completely shut it down without any warning and I haven?t heard a word from him since. He left us high and dry. Save yourself a lot of money and a huge headache and DO NOT HIRE HIM!!

They were really good to work with.

We contacted Sound Vision to have a TV installed. The contact person was prompt at calling me back. Although the company did not perform small tasks like ours, he referred me to a someone who did. That person came out to give a quote the following week and scheduled to have the mount installed above our brick fireplace the following week. I appreciate the professionalism, networking for service and quality of work. Thank you Sound Vision for linking me to someone who was an expert at installation of large TV mounts.

Performance -If you are looking for an off the shelf or budget sound system, I would look elsewhere. Jonathon is all about custom solutions that fit the sound characteristics of the room as well as the "ear" of the customer. This includes a discussion of types of audio - movies, heavy metal, classical, whatever, that is likely to be reproduced. The end result is really excellent, and we are extremely happy with the system. Price -In the end, the project ran over the originally intended budget by a factor of four. We had originally intended to spend a few thousand dollars maximum. It is a bit like ordering a custom car, and bit by bit adding on options and upgrades that each on its own seems minor but ends up adding up in a hurry. We did, however, agree to all the changes and upgrades that helped to make the system meet our expectations in the end. On the other hand, we were not told from the start that our expected budget would be so far from the mark. Installation-Unlike a custom car, however, not all of the components worked well together, and so it took several months before all of the defective components, wiring problems, and programming issues were sorted out. Some components were just underdesigned, and so we became part of the troubleshooting team. On the other hand, Jonathon and his team went above and beyond expectations with regard to the wiring stage. The infrastructure behind our walls made the installation a much greater challenge and a far more time consuming task than anticipated, but we were not charged extra for additional time. We are still today fighting a noisy and defective cooling fan, which is to some extent a result of the fact that Jonathon is learning and trying out new things. Overall - I would not hesitate to recommend Jonathon and his team. It felt like I invited an old college buddy over to help me set up my audio system, a friend that I felt that I could rely on and trust. In the end, we are very happy with the result.

His pricing was good. He did a great job! He explained how he set up the systems very well.

He was timely and accurate with the price. I felt like he was honest.

Jonathon was very friendly, professional, and responsive. He was able to accommodate a tight time frame. He even came on a Sunday to work around our schedule and have the job done before we had guests come to visit. TV was mounted perfectly, with cords running through the wall. He worked into the evening until the job was done. We would definitely use this company again and strongly recommend to anyone in need of their services.

Jon was very responsive from our initial phone conversation. He listened to our needs and stayed within the framework of the budget we were aiming for. The work was done seamlessly and very professionally. He even took the time to walk us through the process of creating our playlists and arranging our music on our hand held devices. Additionally, a few weeks later, we had some issues with a previous installed speaker system in our lower level. Jon took the time out of his schedule to come back & walk my husband through problem solving the issue, which was easily resolved. I'm looking forward to working with the Sound Vision again, as I know that I want to extend our system into other rooms and am looking forward to having some additional speakers installed. I would highly recommend Jon Anderson and the Sound Vision to friends & family members without reservation.

Mr. Anderson and his staff were very professional. They were on time and took great care in performing their work. Mr. Anderson was very patient and thorough in explaining the new setup of the Home Theater System. He also offered many ideas for future projects we are considering.

Mr. Anderson took great care to install everything properly. He did a beautiful job. Furthermore, he explained the entire system to me in detail. After he was finished, I could use the system myself and understand what I was doing. His service is wonderful!!

The sound vision was a dream come true for my husband and now for me!!!! While building our house Jon had informed us on how to make the system affordable and desireable for us. He helped keep pricing down for us with helping us do the work during our build process. Once are build process was complete, Jon came back to finishing installing and customizing our system. He was professional and efficent. I will highly recommend Jon to anyone I know because he can meet the needs of what is desired for your home. I was so impressed with his work, that I am now wanting more added on to my system. And the great thing about it is that my house looks great! Everything is in a media center in a closest, keeping my house clean and wireless. I can't wait to have Jon complete more work for our house in and to be able to show all my friends and family!

We truly appreciated Jon's efforts to create a unique sound system that fit all of our needs. The Sound Vision does not just offer the best products for home theaters, they really know the products and used that knowledge to create the perfect system for us.

Everything went fine.. all materials were available for installation and the job went smoothly. He patiently went over how to use the remote and was available by phone for questions!

He was on time, very professional and he offered many ideas that allowed me to expand my current system and my dreams. He and his staff were able to install all of the equipment and program the universal remote within the timeframe he projected, which was a short period of time. They were very clean and did not leave any debris from the project behind. I am completely satisfied with his efforts and love the new technology that he recommended.

We had just moved back to Michigan and were building a new home. We wanted a home audio system and to run wire for speakers during the construction process. We had heard of SONOS so we googled that and The Sound Vision came up. We called and talked with Jonathon, the owner, who listened to what we were looking for and got back to us days later with three options. The SONOS option we requested as well as two other systems. When we met, Jonathon explained everything to us and we decided to go with a Crestron System. It was less expensive than our original plan and it offered more features that we were able to enjoy. My husband is a builder and he has since worked with Jonathon on his projects as well as referred him to clients looking for Home Audio additions and upgrades. He has done an excellent job and I highly recommend him.

The whole experience from the in house visit/estimate/installation/follow up visit has been outstanding.

I called Jonathon at The Sound Vision, and was greeted with a friendly and professional voice. An initial in-home meeting to talk about the work I wanted done was quickly scheduled. When Jon arrived, he placed shoe covers on before entering my home. It was a nice day outside, and his shoes were clean! I told him that this was unnecessary, but he politely declined my invitation to remove the covers. Every single day he was in my home, the shoe covers were on. It sort of sounds silly, but this was the first of many small details I noticed about Jon that indicated to me the level of professionalism that informs his work. Jon listened to the many requirements and desires I had regarding the project, and in a couple of days had put together several proposals ranging from the most simple and cheapest solution, to an extravagant plan that is perhaps a dream for another day, as well as many steps in between. Jon presented each of these plans equally, and never tried to upsell the more expensive equipment. Regardless of which plan I would have chosen, Jon's suggestions were excellent and made the most of what money would be spent. Jon is a true audio-video and gadget geek, and I mean that in the best sense. His knowledge of his subject is wide, deep, and impressive. Any questions I had were answered quickly, easily, and often times with multiple magazine articles or websites as demonstrations or further instruction. Jon was present doing most of the work himself, though he brought in two other guys who did an outstanding job of routing the wiring through the walls, ceilings, and I?m sure their favorite basement crawl-space in the world. As an aside, though I?m sure everyone has differing levels of comfort regarding this, I should mention that Jon and his crew were present, unsupervised, in my house during several portions of the installation, and I never once feared returning to an empty or damaged house. Jon also has a good working relationship with a painter and electricians, though you can certainly use your own if you already have ones you trust. I went with Jon?s partners, and was pleased with their work. There was only one hiccup during the installation process: a debacle regarding a shipping company - one of the plasma monitors had shipped with multiple massive cracks in the screen. However, this had nothing to do with Jon or The Sound Vision, and he was instrumental in maintaining my sanity through the process of replacing the monitor. Jon demonstrated an eternally calm demeanor during the turbulence, and kept the project on time and on budget. Given its complexity, the rest of the project was amazingly without incident. The interconnections and control between the two A/V systems, hard-wired internet connection and routing between the two systems, connection to the music collection on my home computer that I wanted available on the main A/V system, and expanded wifi service that Jon and The Sound Vision installed ended up being absolutely sterling, with fit and finish beyond expectations. All of the many criteria that I required for this project were completely met, within a reasonable budget, without exception. I should also note that Jon does not stop until everything is perfect, which is the only time that he is satisfied. This is particularly evident in the level of attention he gives you long after the project has been finished. In the two years since this project was completed, Jon has periodically kept in touch, making sure everything was working as it should. Those few small bugs everyone finds in their system only after using it on a daily basis for a while? Jon is there that night or next day to fix it. No questions asked. I have several additional projects in mind for the future, and there is no doubt in my mind who I will be calling.

It went very well, Jon provided us a number of solutions based on our cost and space constraints and never tried to oversell us. He also told us about new products that helped simplify our overall music integration. Although I didn't use his installation services, I've seen his work before and it is very clean and professional.
