We were very impressed with the work ethic of all the crews David sent to us. Carpenters arrived before daylight and worked steadily all day. Workers were polite and considerate and just a pleasure to have around, often going above and beyond what was required. We felt comfortable leaving the house while they worked - knew we could trust them completely. Project was completed in a timely manner, even though it was done during the Winter. Dave kept a close eye on the project and nothing escaped his notice. Everything had to be perfect! You don't need to look any further, this is the company you want to go with. Matt, the owner, took my drawing of what I wanted to build and made a 3D picture for me. He and his crew helped me figure out the details and type of materials best suited for the project. The work crew, Erin and John, were always prompt, starting at 7:30 am. Erin's skillfulness as a finished carpenter and attention to detail is beyond reproach. I can't say enough good things about the quality of his work and John's abilities as a rough carpenter. Throughout the project Matt was very prompt at responding to my texts. You couldn't ask for a nicer person to work with.

They came out and gave us an estimate and a lot of ideas of what we could do. Super friendly and helpful. He also let us no what kind of time the job would take and that he could not start the outside work until next spring. We will use them if we decide to do the project.

This was our first major renovation and couldn't be happier with the results. They were very involved in the project from day 1 - even before we granted them the project. Way more involved than the other 4 companies we brought out. They reviewed our thoughts/wishes and Matt worked very **** ** preliminary designs keeping in mind our budget and wishes. He came back with a design that met nearly all our design wishes and came back with several recommendations to help get it within budget. Matt and his crew communicated extremely well throughout the project touching base multiple times to review budget and progress. His crew is very highly skilled and all care deeply about doing the job right. We were really happy with the pace and quality of the work. The crew did an excellent job cleaning up each night and left the place quite clean considering the entire main floor was practically gutted. We found Matt and the crew really easy to work with and enjoyed working with them on the project. We are extremely happy with the results and would recommend them to anyone.

It didn't go very well because I was turned down for business. Apparently, my job wasn't big enough for them and they wasn't "interested" in taking my money.

We couldn't be more pleased with how well the job went. The work was completed quickly but more importantly it was done well. Communication with Matt is easy, he was always available when I called. The workmanship on both the drywall and the shower are outstanding. I really have no complaints or criticisms. There's no question we would recommend Motor City, as we're already planning our next home improvement with them.

The workers arrived on time each day, except on days with bad weather. They were diligent and kept me informed of their progress, often asking my preferences on various tasks. They cleaned up every day and put their equipment away out of sight. The Owner, Dave, kept me apprised of all the charges I incurred with the extras I ordered. All in all, I thought this experience was very favorable and I would use this company again.

Project took just about a month to complete. Matt and the crew were great to work with. Matt took the time to make sure we understood the process and was will to answer all of our questions in a very timely manner. The Kevins were very professional, arriving on time, doing great work, and even taking some time to play fetch with our dog! Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely use them for future projects.

Dave Poirier handled our project from start to finish, including design and dealing with all necessary permits and inspections. Each phase of the work was done in a timely manner, in spite of challenging weather conditions, and a very icy driveway! His workers were the best.. Punctual, hardworking and all around nice guys. Dave faithfully checked each phase of the project, and no detail was too small for him to take care of. Everything had to be perfect! The crews often worked in our home unattended, and I never had a moments doubt that they could be trusted. Glad as we are to have the job completed, we were sorry to see them go!

We were extremely pleased with the job Motor City Builders completed for us. It was a very extensive job with an addition including a master bedroom, master bath, walk-in closet and office on the upper level of a tri-level home. On the lower level they constructed a family /storage room. We were very impressed with the design they presented and in the end the price was inside the budget. They were very meticulous, thorough and hard working. All of their workers were very respectful and kind. We have an older autistic son who was at home during the complete job and all of the men were very respectful and patient with him. I would highly recommend them for any job. Thank you Dave, Matt and crew.

It took a while to get the job started due to weather and his schedule. There was unexpected work that needed to be done, and the added cost was difficult to come up with. The contractor he used was wonderful, and went above and beyond. I feel like we were taken advantage of with the price. David is a nice guy, but, again I wish we would have looked around more, not just on Angie's list. The cement leading out of the garage has a large edge that we now have to figure out what to do about it.

I thought I needed a whole new roof replacement but Motor City indicated I still have 4-5 yrs left, only a few blown off shingles on vent ridge so they came out and replaced and made sure all shingles properly adhered on the vent ridge. They were honest and could have quoted a full replacement. Will call them in 4-5 yrs for a full roof replacement quote.

Met with Dave in the Spring to go over details of building a new carriage house. He was ready to start right away but I had problems getting the plans approved by the that city I live in. When I finally did get plans approve Dave was ready to go. He started right away. I had an architect design the structure. There were a lot of things that the architect left out or didn't plan out properly. Thank God for Dan from Motor City Builders. He was extremely knowledgable. Every time we ran into a problem with the plans being wrong he would step in a think of a solution. Without his knowledge the structure wouldn't have been as beautiful as it is. We used antique leaded glass windows and antique doors. He planned everything out to make it look like it had always been there. Dave, John,Kevin and Jake were all great to work with. They did all of the framing and trim work. Doug, Douglas and Danny did all of the wood siding. The siding was 4 inch lap wood and each piece had to be hand nailed on. They did a fantastic job. The roofers were great. Only took them a day. I used a product that looks like slate. I'm very happy with the outcome and project. It looks like it could be on Mackinaw Island.

Their price wasn't the lowest, or highest of the 5 bids we received. The bids ranged from $6,000 to $16,500. The low bidder asked me no questions after finding out what color and type of siding I wanted. Motor City Builders had more reviews than any other "A" rated siding contractor. The owner asked me a lot of questions about what we wanted, and why we wanted it the way we did. The questions were very detailed. He explained that vertical board-and-batten siding was difficult to find in the dark brown color we wanted (in order to match our garage). He also explained that vertical siding was more expensive to install for 2 reasons, about a 15% wastage on 10 foot lengths of siding and increased labor to install. He gave me a full explanation of what would be done, and how. He showed me examples of poor execution on a similar job done on our garage by a different contractor several years ago. He was quite knowledgeable. It took him some time to find the right color to match the older siding on the garage. He predicted a late November start for the job, but was able to get a crew out 2 weeks earlier. The job was done in 5 days and the house looks beautiful. I would recommend Motor City Builders highly.

The bid was $1500 higher than any other estimates that I received. He was short with our interactions and seemed to be in a big hurry.

You were spot on with all your suggestions and recommendations. We owe the color combinations to your good taste. So glad we chose the two colors...Beautiful. Everything went really well. I found Motor City Builders on Angie's List when looking for a new contractor to complete insurance work on my home. The contractor I had been working with didn't seem interested in doing the work since he kept delaying the date, then stopped responding to my efforts to contact him. Motor City responded very quickly to my inquiry. I selected them out of 4 bids because of their thorough quote, reasonable price, professionalism, responsiveness, and Matt Poirier's willingness to fully explain the quote and the work to be done, and to answer all of my questions promptly. Matt also provided me with a fair and realistic assessment of my options without trying to point me to the higher priced option. Matt knew communication was very important to me, especially because of my experience with the previous contractor. He checked in frequently on how the job was going, both on site and via phone and text. His team was great, especially Ken and Ray who were there for the entire project. They delivered on everything they said they would do, and wouldn't accept anything short of doing it right. It shows in the quality of the work, the attention to detail, and frequently checking in to get my input and be sure I was happy with the results. I was in a bind when I found Motor City Builders on Angie's List, and they really came through for me. Working with them was a great experience with a terrific end result. I will use them again for future work, and I would recommend them to others without hesitation.

I believe I got excellent service from Motor City Builders. The job consisted of completely gutting my 1980's kitchen; removing a supporting wall and replacing it with a new support beam; laying 700 sqft of porcelain tile; hanging and setting cabinets; building a walk in pantry; building a window seat and hanging 9 doors. The Motor City Builders crews were on time every day, cleaned up after themselves every day, did a quality job on every project from demolition to painting and made sure we were happy with every decision. My new Kitchen is awesome and has stunned most people who have seen it. I will hire this company again.

Motor City Builders not only does professional work but also has great customer service. The house looks great! From the start of the project, Motor City Builders took the time to educate us on all of the products to help us make informed choices that fit our budget. They were great at bringing color samples multiple times to make sure we were happy with our choices. Motor City Builders also managed the entire project including scheduling the crews and inspections while keeping us updated every step of the way. It is hard to find such great customer service and fair prices.

Very professional, on time, and knowledgable. Did not hire this firm to do the remodel due to project cost.

They are a great company to work with and the finished product was excellent. We would definitely recommend them and will use them again if we need additional work done in the future..

I had very old masonite siding that was falling apart, gutters that were allowing some water to get behind them and three rotted windows and doors. Matt came out and went through the details; he was the fourth and final contractor I had coming out to do the quote. Two things here were great: First, the estimate was the lowest of the four estimates I received (next closest was about $500 higher). Second, Matt wasn't the standard sales guy that spent half the time talking about the company and how their material's were better than everyone else's (after three estimates, I was sick of the sales spiel), he cut right to the chase on what his crew could/would do. I also noticed that the replacement sheathing that MCB uses was half the cost of the next lowest contractor. The work started roughly right when Matt said they would once the windows came in three weeks later. The crew was fantastic, they were there every morning 8 - 8:30 kicking butt and taking names. They would usually leave around 3 - 4 once they got to a good stopping point. They were friendly and easy to work with and more that happy to answer any questions. We found out early that some of the masonite had concrete behind it and I didn't want to have new siding over that. Since it was black, I planned on painting it to match the siding once the work was done. They ended up painting it themselves free of charge! The one and only thing I noticed in the entire process I believe that could have been improved is that the estimate took a few days to get after Matt came out. Most contractors provide the estimate the day they come out. While I assume MCB is able to provide a better estimate this way, it would have been nice to have an idea the first day since I was eager to get the ball rolling. This is the reason for the "B" in Responsiveness. Aside from that, everything was fantastic. The work finished without too many issues. My house looks great; I've already gotten numerous compliments on it. I will be calling MCB again for any sort of construction work and I will recommend them to anyone I know in the area looking to have some work done.
