Gil Sunde Well Drilling

My church well tested positive for coliform and I was notified by the health department late on Friday. It was recommended that the well be chlorinated. I called the office and left a message. Monday morning Sunde contacted me at 7:30 am. At 9:15 am they were there and walked me through everything I needed to do after the chlorination.

Seeing 5-star reviews, nauseating. The owner (and his son) are complete con-artists. December 2021 they came out to do a bid. All parties agreed on work to be performed, so we paid the permit fee. It was at this point we made the mistake of not requiring the estimate (or receipt) in writing. Coincidentally, that's when the run-around began. First the company truck broke; for over a month. No problem ... we'll wait, patiently. Finally, after a month we were back "on schedule" per Andy (the son/treasurer). And that was the last we heard from the guy for 2 years. After tracking them down at their Flint office (bc they evaded cell communications) old man Brian Sunde (father/president) answers. Oh yes, Andy still works there, both in the office together to confirm money was collected for the job and a price was indeed agreed upon for installation. All this, leading up to the night before Gil Sunde was supposed to drill the well. New Problem ... the initial quote given (by Andy) was no longer valid. Now, all of a sudden, we were literally reamed out (by Brian) bc they wanted to double the bid overnight; claiming he would never do a job for the price his son bid us out at. Welp, this is awkward. Firm was referred to us from elderly friends whose kid went to school with Andy. Sounds like Sunde ripped them off too. In short .... Good chance these guys either a) have a substance abuse problem; or b) low ball quotes (to get the job), take the permit fee(s) only to bend you over a barrel; knowing you don't currently have water. In contrast, Keller Well drilling was amazing. Reached out to them after GIl Sunde tried extorting us and Keller was here the next day. This was after the positive experience our neighbors had when Keller replaced theirs at almost half the price Sunde was trying to get. Read through the reviews, be wary! Gil Sunde operates out of Flint/Fenton. The positive reviews are misleading in that there's a good chance the "happy customers" didn't understand true market value. .... Hoping this candidness of this review helps others avoid the loss our family experienced.

Pump went bad, they came right over within 30 minutes of the call to figure out the problem. Returned later that day to replace the pump. Great service.

After being told by another company, that the well was not the problem and subsequently having water pour from my well cap, I called Gil Sunde on a recommendation from my parents. I described my problem over the phone and was given a very concise description of the likely problem along with a general idea of the cost. The repair was completed by noon that very day. The phone diagnosis of the problem was spot on and the cost was several hundred dollars less than the estimate. It has been several weeks and it is evident the problem is completely fixed. I couldn't be happier.
