At first very responsive -- even sent thru a text asking for an extension from Friday to Monday to provide the estimate that we'd discussed after I'd sent them a detailed pool inspection report and pictures. But Monday came & went. I attempted to reach to follow up but no answer to voicemail/email/text. After letting a week go by, I called and the guy answered his cell phone but told me his company wouldn't have time to do the work on the pool for me in the Spring and he'd meant to tell me that. I told him that the written estimate is for my lender and isn't a promise to do the work, and I have to have at least 2 estimates to be able to close. I even offered to pay him for his time to write up the estimate that I reiterated does Not have to be detailed at all, just a ball-park figure of what it might cost to unwinterize the pool in the Spring (and make any repairs that might be necessary to ensure it's running properly) and replace the liner. He stated adamantly that he and his company were not interested in providing me an estimate and offered no explanation of what may have changed from just about a week earlier when he was all enthusiastic and helpful about writing the estimate for me. So any indication by them that they provide free estimates (or even an estimate for which a customer is willing to pay a reasonable fee) is false. No excuse to treat someone this way; it was basically a great big ** to me. And why? What happened? How long does it take to write $9,000-$10,000 on a company bid sheet (assuming he agrees with the cost estimates of the pool inspector) and email it through? Again, no detail required - no breakdown or justification for the dollar figure estimate because the pool inspection report I provided to them already did that.
