Gary at Pro Home Improvement called and cancelled contract because their satellite estimate said the job was bigger by 1/3. My insurance company and 2 other new roof estimates from same weekend, were all around what the Pro salesman quoted-27 squares. This is their game-the salesman started at $16,000.00. I said no, I cannot pay that much. We finally signed and all agreed at $10,430.00. Ten days later, Gary from Pro calls and says that is not enough money and they need more. My insurance company was on roof and measured at 32 square, Pro is now saying 41 square (27 square was quoted). Big difference. The salesman comes down to a negotiated price, then Pro Home Improvement says they have a satellite view, that even shows my car in the driveway, and that the job is bigger by a 1/3. Why have a salesman if they do not know how to measure? It is a game-Pro found out I got the insurance money and they wanted it all, not the negotiated price. Their is a small line on back of their contract that states they can cancel within 2 weeks if their estimate is wrong. So, Pro gets away with it.
Description of Work: Quote for new roof. Ten days later, Gary called and cancelled contract because he says his salesman measured 27 square and their satellite view states that it is 41 square roof.

This was associated with the siding job I had done by PHI, but performed on the original install date rather than mid September as the siding had been delayed. Workers arrived promptly at 8 am and finished work by 11, beating the severe flooding that began at noon that day. Wonderful work.

I'm very satisfied with the final product, but it was a journey to get here. Initial sales rep who came to offer a free quote was aggressive and continually pushed products we didn't want. Took 3 hours to arrive at a quote and he stayed another hour attempting to make us sign documents when all we wanted was a quote. Following this wasted evening we were contacted by the companies VP Gary, who came bearing discounts and actual knowledge of siding. Smooth sailing after that. The work took 3 days for the siding and an additional 2 hours for gutters and downspouts. Small wood fragments and paint chips we left on the ground around the house, but easily picked up by shop vac. A pipe was busted in the crawlspace as the worker tried to fit J-Channel behind a faucet, but this was caught and a plumber brought in at company expense to fix it. It was a rough ride, but the house and garage look amazing.

Salesman was great, very informed and easy to deal with. They seemed to be a very professional organization. The catch is their competition offered the same materials, same labor, for approx. half the price. I went with Hickson Home Improvement. Frank, the owner of Hickson was there on the job for the entire duration. One must always remember that the salesman may seem intelligent and professional, you have no idea what type of people are coming out to do your work. I fell for that mistake in the past with the shoddy work done by Lake Orion Roofing, great salesman, worthless crew. I of course, can make no comments on Pro Home Improvement workers as they did not get the job. Yet, according to the salesman, they also present themselves professionally.

Asked for estimate on a new roof. Salesman carried on a personal conversation the whole time he was measuring for the job. Never got up on the roof to inspect. Sales pitch took over and hour. We decided to use a different company due to the fact that Pro's price was more than double what the other company offered. Same roof, same guarantee, double the price. After the job was finished, some guy from Pro kept calling and calling and calling for at least a month.

Just as a previous customer stated salesperson is too demanding. I told him I was just getting estimates he said that he could just leave right now. Not only did I see them on Angie's List a coworker of mine had him do some installation for his basement he charged him 1100 dollars.and our houses are about the same size. I guess he thought because where I stayed he could charge me 14 more hundred dollars.so no I would not recommend this company

I would not recommend Pro Home Improvement. Their sales techniques are very pushy. We called for quote on home repairs. At first, the visit went well. Once you are presented with the price, they tell you that you can obtain a 10% if you sign today. When you tell them that you will pass on the 10% discount and will think about it, the pressure sales comes forward. As time went on, the price keeps getting lower. A price should be a price to perform a job! They even went as far as calling their manager to get a "better deal" for us....and the manager asked for our zip code before responding! The salesman said he was here to make a deal. We expressed that we have the quote and will let him know. He actually told us that if we just wanted a quote that would should have called with the measurements and received a price because he could spend his time on another call. In summary, the sales man spent an hour at our home trying to get us to sign! I would not recommend Pro Home Improvement. I would go with another contractor even if they price was higher just do to their sales techniques.

After resolving differences with regard to what I was told by the salesman vs. what the installer intended, the job proceeded well. The gutters look great and function to my expectations. My roof is very steep and produces torrents of rain. The installers were very well experienced and VERY understanding to my thoughts, suggestions, and demands. This was a GREAT crew. The install required a lot more time than the salesman had told me but I am glad for the quality that a systematic install provided. Overall this was a good experience if you pay close attention to what the "salesman" says. Take notes. Put it on the contract.

Overall I am completely satisfied with their work. There was a small issue with the aesthetics of a portion of the edge vent on a small area on rear of house. Tim personally came out and explained its purpose and even agreed to change it free of charge, because I wanted a more aesthetically pleasing look.
Description of Work: I had Pro Home Improvement perform a complete tear off and re-single along with vent system, new gutters and gutter protection. I chose them because; they quoted the best price, on-line reviews regarding the ventilation system they use, they are a local company, and payment postpone for up to 1 ½ years at 0% interest.

The sale rep was on time and explained what the work crew would do. He gave what I thought was a good price, but we had to go with it right away. He didn't really leave us time to check other prices, although it was lower than the first company we contacted. The job was completed on time, and the crew was very careful about not making a mess in my home. My main complaint is that the crew took a short cut in not replacing the plastic on the dirt floor. I thought this was included in the price. We had an existing strip down the middle, which they left, then put two new strips on either side of it. Seaming them together with a spray strip of insulation. I thought they were going to put down one solid piece of new black plastic. This may sound petty, and maybe it is, but it wasn't what the rep had us in visioning. It looks nothing like the photo's on their website. I guess if it does the job that it is supposed to do, one shouldn't complain. No one from the company called me to check on anything, after the install crew left.

I did my home work and received multiple quotes for gutters. I reviewed testimonials, online reviews, Angies a list, etc. ProHome Improvement was not the lowest cost. I have learned you do get what you pay for. They were the only company willing to route a gutter underneath my deck, which was worth the extra cost. Gary Muehling, the Vice President, was the deciding factor for me. His knowledge, professionalism, and commitment to doing the job right sold me. He followed up and met me in person to discuss the job. The crew was on time and very professional. I watched the removal and installation of the gutters and down spouts. The crew was a well oiled machine that did a first class job. They also cleaned up completely. I have had many dealings with poor workmanship and horrible contractors. This was an extremely positive experience with ProHome Improvement. The gutters and downspouts not only look great but function properly. ProHome also gives a guarantee along with their exceptional workmanship. I would highly recommend ProHome and would use them again. It has been a few months and the gutters are still working great.

This company contacted me. I had gone online to lookup information on estimated costs to replace a roof. It would appear the website I used forwarded my contacted information onto several roofing companies. When they contacted me, I set up on appointment for the roof inspection and quote. The rep for the company, Tim, arrived on time. The first thing that struck me funny was that there was no visible indication as to the company he worked for. Nothing on the vehicle, nothing on his clothing, and as a matter of fact, I had to ask for a business card from him later in the process. The second thing that bothered me, he never went up on the roof. Simply took measurements from the ground. I thought that maybe by experience this can lead to a good measurement. However, I received several other quotes from companies who went up on the roof to inspect and measure. Their calculation for the number of "squares" was 15% lower than this company. He then came in to discuss his findings and quote. Third thing I thought funny was that he insisted that my wife sit through the process. When I stated that she might not want to join since she had been ill, he stated that they usually don't provide quotes unless all homeowners are present. He produced brochures of all the products that would be used, the processes that would be used and did have what I think was a contract, rather than a quote sitting on the table. He then proceeded to tell me how bad other roofing companies were, that had several bad ratings at the BBB. He then proceeded to tell me what the normal price for my roof would be, then said that since the summer season had not started, there was a different lower price. He then said that if I signed the contract right now there was a special first visit discount. When I told him that he was the first company I had talked to, and would be getting other quotes, and not signing anything at that time, he said that if I signed, and got cheaper quotes later, they would match the price. But he also said that if I signed they could begin work on the roof within a week. I have a feeling I would have a hard time getting other companies to give me a quote if they came out and found another company already putting a roof on. He also asked how much money I was willing to put down up front. When I said 15%, which was a number that I had found being suggested from my internet searches, he said he would have to talk to the boss since they usually require 50% down, which was completely out of line. At the end of the day, he left. When I reached for a couple of the product brochures and the written contract/quote, he put them away in his briefcase and left. The only thing he left me with was a single sheet of paper which had the two prices on it, with a note that I had rejected the first visit price. No brochures, no written quote, no information on the company. Bottom line, worst quoting process I have ever been through, and their standard price was 20% higher than the vendor I went with. Even their discounted first visit price was 10% higher. This could be due to the overestimate of the roof squares, but in the end they would have wanted me to pay for more material and labor than was required for the true size of the roof.

Just out of the ballpark on price. He came off and replacement. Never went up on roof as other contractors did. Overestimated number of squares on house. Contractor we did hire was much more reasonable, was prompt, went up on roof and was giving us much more bang for the buck. This guy stayed for over 3 hours, trying to get us to sign. He was polite and on time, but without going up on the roof, I am sure extras would be added on. He never gave us a written estimate about what was included. That was a red flag to begin with. Expected us to sign up on verbal agreement, I don't think so. Just left a bad feeling with my husband and myself. Would never hire this company. They may do good work, but we were not convinced.
Description of Work: Came out and gave estimate. Stayed forever and could hardly get him to leave. He was courteous, but high pressure tactics. Price was way out of the ballpark from other roofers we had called out from Angies list, and they were doing much more. Would not recommend. Price was 35 to 40% more expensive.

All details were worked out, and date was scheduled for a new roof and blown in insulation. Crew showed up on time, spread protective coverings over perimeter of yard and disposal trailer was parked in driveway. Crews began working and were extremely organized as some were tearing the old roof off and as soon as they cleared a spot others were cutting new boards to replace devective boards. Others crew members were already starting to cut out wood roofing for the new air vents in the gables and eaves. It wasn't much longer than 8 hours and the crews were completed and the trash was being hauled away. Everything was left exactly the way they found it and there was no damage to any vegetation. Insulation was scheduled for the following day and even though we were in the middle of a blizzard, the crew showed up on time. There was quite a bit of preparation in the 3 separate parts of the attic before they could begin blowing the insulation in. The crew again made sure the house was protected as they placed plastic from outside all the way through the house to where the hose was run. It took about 5 hours to blow in the insulation, and then they cleaned up everything leaving it as it was when they came. All the crews and supervisors were extremely courteous, and let us know how they were doing during the entire two days of getting a new roof and insulation blown into the attic. This company knows exactly what they are doing and you can tell their employees are well trained. They use only the best of materials. I would highly recommend them for roofing and insulation, and plan to use them again next year when I have new siding and gutters installed.

The short version: A long persistant sales pitch for a wildly overpriced service backed up with unsupported statements, and a lot of pressure to sign a contract NOW. We had an estimate prepared for a roof, and Tim from Pro Home Improvement came out to the house. He arrived at the designated time and seemed knowledgeable and courteous, if pushy during the estimate process. He made a few statements that I could not find anything to back up, and performed an elaborate song and dance to get us to sign a contract on the spot. He claimed that the average roof cost in Michigan was $21,000. On the basis of my research, the average cost in the Detroit Area is $6,000. In my area, they run a bit higher, but I don't live in a mansion by any stretch of the imagination.. From the time he arrived, until the time he finally left was just shy of two and a half hours. He began with an introduction to the company, explained how his workers were certified, how his warranty won't be rejected by the manufacturers and so on and so on. After showing materials and having my wife and I pick colors, he attempted to have us play a game where we would guess the price of the estimate, which we declined. After much ado, he revealed that our estimate came in at $21,000. (Another roofer with an A+ rating on Angie's list, already gave an estimate of $8500 with mostly comparable materials.) Then Tim began the song and dance, applying discounts as though they were Christmas gifts. "You were in the Army! Oh, the owner's son was also in the Army! You get our military discount!" "Let me call the warehouse and see, oh yes, we have an abundance of shingles in your exact color, so you get warehouse pricing!" "If you will sign right now, and forget the other estimates, I'll give you $1,000 off." And so on, and then later some pressure and warnings about how if the salesman leaves the price will go up immediately. All told, he seemed bewildered to bring the estimate down to $15,000. "Oh my, did I really just say that, $14,797? I guess I really did! Don't tell your neighbors!" I cannot recommend anybody subject themselves to this pitch. The materials he was selling seems like they were quality items, but his price was breathtakingly high for the job and the area.

They were terrible. The worst contractor I've ever dealt with. They didn't tell me the truth about several things. They used sub contractors and they told me they were doing it themselves. Not only did they do a bad job, after I gave them a payment I started getting extra charges on my credit card. It was a nightmare dealing with them. They had to come back four times to correct issues with the roof. They showed up unannounced in the evening hours and would start working without even notifying the resident.

The crew arrived at 8 AM and began work right away. They installed large sheets that covered the windows and shrubbery for protection. After that they removed the old shingles and stowed them in the trash hauler. When all that was cleared away the new materiel was installed and the shingles nailed in place. When they were finished they cleaned up and checked for nails. The work was done promptly and neatly. We would use Pro again.
