Stan's Fireplace & Chimney Service

In September, 2028, the company owner came to our house and after looking down the chimney told us our fireplace chimney was separated and could not be used. After having a highly reputable company take the job, we found that Stan's had lied to us. We watched the camera go up the chimney and all seams on the flue were intact. We were also told that our chimney was clean. One look at what came out of the chimney revealed yet another lie. The chimney was very dirty. We are senior citizens and could be targets for unnecessary repairs. In the long and short reasons, Stan's could have been trying to sell us more than we needed. He also told us he would need to put a hole in our brand new roof or sidewall to the fireplace. None of this needed. Call Doctor Chimney for a fair and responsible resolution to Fireplace issues.

Great. Stan was prompt, courteous and was able to acquire replacement set in same day. He did a thorough cleaning of the chimney and He put down his drop cloths and the house remained as neat and clean after he was finished. He also noted that the old set was not installed properly with the shut off. I was pleased with the service and would recommend them to others.

As a new home owner who has never had a wood burning chimney, I had many questions. Stan patiently answered each question. I got several quotes and Stan was in the middle for the price, so it seemed reasonable. Stan also discovered an issue with my chimney cap that will be addressed when the weather is warmer.

It didn't! Poor customer service. Even told him I found him on angies list.

It turned out okay. I wouldn't rate them as great. They did the job but I probably wouldn't recommend them. They came out and gave a lower estimate but I didn't know they were going to use the old brick. The chimney and the bricks were starting to chip. The only thing they replaced was the bricks that were chipped. Another company told me that had a higher estimate, they'll come in and give you a lower estimate but they'll use your same old brick which is what they did. They did replace maybe 8 or 10 bricks out of the whole chimney. When they showed up with their truck, I thought they had a load of bricks. They charged me $50 or $100 for a cheap cap to put on it. I could probably buy one for $30 at Lowe's or Home Depot myself. I said I don't want that, just turn out my old one. It's too late now, we've already bought it. I said, you can't take it back to the store? No. It serves a purpose a guess, but I wouldn't know.

Very professional. Showed up at scheduled time. Quick and efficient diagnosis of the problem. Educated me (with pictures) on the issues and then offered me a quote. No pressure to use his company for repairs. Prices were better than those I received before. New custom cap on my chimney later that day. Would definitely work with them again.

Stan and Jason came over right on time. They were punctual and friendly. I moved into a new home that had a gas log which had not been used in approx 8+ years. I wanted them to check it out and make sure everything was safe. They went over using the system and checked to make sure everything was safe/clean. I'll be using them in the future for any maintenance/repairs I may need, and will happily recommend them to others. Stan just seems like a good guy who cares about his business.

I left a message with the company to return a call to see if they could assist me. A week and a half later I have not recieved a call back from this company.

Very friendly and efficient, great responsiveness and punctuality. Did a great job and also gave me recommendations and advice on other things they noticed while they were doing their service (such as the state of the chimney joints, advice on where to buy a fireproof rug for in front of the stove, etc.) They were polite and courteous, the stove looks brand new and they cleaned up every speck of dust. Will definitely use again.

The initial appointment was September 15th. He actually called us and could come earlier than planned which worked out great for us. He initially inspected our gas fireplaces and determined that that were not ready for maintenance for another two years. He determined the model of remote that we would need and ordered it, and told us he would call to schedule a time that would work for us, to install it. He would not charge us for the service call since the fireplaces did not need any maintenance. My husband insisted he charge us something for his time and the trip out to our home. Stan suggested we just pay a deposit for the remote and that would take care of the service call. My husband paid him that day for total cost of the remote. Stan called the following week, and scheduled the install for the following day. The remote was installed quickly and worked great. We were not charged any additional fee for the labor and second trip to our home. Stan and his staff are friendly and courteous, and we could not be happier with their work! We will call him again when our fireplaces are due for inspection and maintenance.

We moved into our home approximately five (5) years ago and never used our fireplace. We decided that since it was used to burn wood and later converted to a vent-free gas log, the smart thing to do was to have everything cleaned and inspected before using. After researching Angie's list, I found and read the reviews for Stan's Fireplace & Chimney Service. After talking to Stan, arrangements were made to have our chimney and fireplace cleaned and inspected. Stan and crew arrived promptly as scheduled, even calling prior to arrival to let me know when they would they would arrive. After introducing himself and crew, they covered the floors and brought in their equipment. The chimney was cleaned and inspected for height, chimney cap, custom flashing, roof flashing, inner liner and moisture resistance. The fireplace was cleaned and inspected for proper damper operation, firebox/grate, ash container, spark screen and general condition of hearth. After all work was completed, Stan explained all the work that was completed and demonstrated the proper procedure for safely lighting and shutting down the vent-free gas log system. Since we did not have a gas log shut-off key, Stan stressed the importance of having this key and offered to order it for us and have it shipped to our house. We gladly paid for the key and Stan made sure we received it as promised. Stan's Fireplace & Chimney Service went above and beyond what I was hoping for. Stan and crew were polite, professional and delivered high quality service. After the work was completed, they made sure they left the work areas spotless. The appointment went well. The team was prompt, clean and professional. Answered questions as this is the first house we've had with a natural fireplace. Following the examination/sweep they discussed future care and eventual concerns as well as included a timeline for future service. We will use them again in the future.

Stan is a complete professional in every aspect. Examined the fireplace from top to bottom literally, chimney top to basement. We are in a "new" old house and did not want to use the fireplace without having it checked first. It's a good thing we did. Stan found the fireplace and chimney fine but when he went to the basement to check the ash receptacle and base of the hearth safety issues became apparent to him. Stan discovered the bottom of the hearth rested on wood and could cause a fire from heat transfer. He took the time to explain what could be done to make the fireplace usable and safe. Then said No Charge! We will definitely recommend him to everyone and give him our business.

Highly recommend! I was able to schedule online, received email confirmations and reminder. Stan called ahead to give approx. arrival time (which was at the beginning of the 2 hr window - always a big plus). He and staff were prompt and courteous, putting down tarps, wearing shoe covers, etc. I have to admit I expected this to be a very stinky/messy job but it really wasn't at all. I now have peace of mind that the fireplace/chimney/flue/insert are clean and safe for the upcoming winter. Cost seems appropriate to service - and I was able to purchase the fabulous glass cleaner used from them as well. I am more than thrilled and feel great that I am able to support local business.

I just bought the house and Stan's chimney was recommended by the previous owner. Stan & another crew member came and inspected my chimney, cleaned it out and even gave me some tips and hints on how to operate some of the extra levers (vents, flue & fan) on the fireplace. They were helpful, courteous and clean. No mess whatsoever.

Looks like the fireplaces had not been used or cleaned in years. Stan and Eric came promptly as scheduled. They even called the day before to remind us and reconfirm the time. They removed chimney caps, cleaned the flue and fireplace and looked for damaged tiles in flue. They were clean and efficient. They used booties inside the house and put tarp down when working inside by both fireplaces. Stan and Eric were professional and pleasant. We are thrilled to know we can use the fireplaces without concern. Stan said he would contact us in 3 yrs for our next cleaning and inspection. I wouldn't use anyone else. We couldn't be happier.

We recently purchased this house. When I looked in the fireplace/chimney, It look awful. Using Angie's List, I selected Stan's Fireplace and Chimney Sweep. I used the on-line scheduler (which was very easy). Stan and his assistance arrived promptly on-time. They inspected the chimney and cleaned it thoroughly. (Finding many birds nests, a dead frog and a mason trow. Our chimney also need a chimney cap installed and Stan had one available. They were very efficient and neat. The completed everything in just over an hour. I would highly recommend them for chimney cleaning.

Stan and his assistant were prompt, clean and thorough. He initially came to clean all three fireplaces but upon inspection recommended only cleaning one but upgrading pilot switch. I appreciated his professionalism by only doing the work I needed.

Hassle free service and transaction. Shows up to appointments on time, shows up to job on time, excellent communication, goes over options in detail. Called recently, 1/2013 for warranty work, got back to us in 24 hours, stated they would put us on call list as soon as weather breaks. I believe they will, but they also encouraged us to feel free to call them.

I purchased a chimney inspection and cleaning for my girlfriend's house from Stan through Angie's List. Stan was very prompt in getting in touch with me through phone and e-mail and setting up the appointment at her place. When it came time for the service, I was traveling out of state and hoping he would show up at her place on time that morning. Unfortunately, Stan had brought my address with him and called me, wondering where I was. Really unfortunately, I was in a time zone 2 hours earlier than where he was. Honest mistake, but surprising since I even asked if it was OK to use the Angie's List deal on a different address than my own and had provided the address over e-mail. Besides that, my girlfriend was very impressed with their professionalism and cleanliness. The inspection had found that there had been a chimney fire with the previous owners and would need further repairs before it could be used fully. Very glad we got that taken care of before we started up a fire! We would definitely use them again for chimney services in the future.

Stan was also suppose to supply me with a written estimate on the options he suggested by email, which i have not received.
