First Impressions Concrete, Livonia, MI did an excellant job installing a stamped concrete patio and stairway to our back yard/porch area. They were prompt in calling back, coming to our home for a price estimate. They were honest in telling us when the job could be done and completed the job on time. The cost of the work was a fair price and the workmanship was excellant. Thank you to the owner and his employees for the outstanding job. We would highly recommend this business to anyone.

First Impressions Concrete provided us some excellent advice on how to best replace our existing patio and recycle/reuse an existing raised planting area. First impressions arrived early morning to get a jump start on the day. They have the equipment necessary to get the job done properly and timely. The crew explained to us the process of concrete pouring, curing and sealing our patio. Who could ask for more! We are very pleased with their quality product and attention to detail. We definitely recommend First Impressions and would recommend and use the company again. Bottom line, we now have a wonderful patio for entertaining or just enjoying our new functional outdoor space this summer.

We were really pleased with the total experience. Gary gave us a lot of suggestions for what would look good with our house. He was prompt in providing a quotation and the quotation had sufficient detail. When we gave them the job, they provided an estimate when they would begin and when the job would be finished. They met all of the dates that they indicated. One day I was home early enough to watch them finish up that days work. They all worked pretty efficiently together. I also noticed that they paid attention to cleaning up the job site after the day's work. The crew was personable to my family and I.

They have not returned any of my phone calls. I have called 3-4 times over the past week and have not received any return call and no one has ever picked up the phone. I will change my review based on any type of response. UPDATE! Shortly after this review, I received a phone call and on-site quotation. Service for quotation was great and very personable. thanks!

They really went the extra mile to prepare the area for the patio, which was uneven and had lots of large tree roots. They took the time to dig and level everything properly. It seems they really take pride in their work and focused on every detail of the process, rather than just rushing through a job to get to the next. I had gotten other bids and this was right in the same ballpark as the others, but I got the impression the service that would be provided by Gary would be more creative towards what we wanted than the others, and now that the job is completed I feel that service was delivered.

Gary's input was extremely helpful in the selection of style and color of stamped concrete. Gary always returned our phone calls in a timely manner. Arrived on job site as promised. Written contract provided thorough description of all work to be done. Gary accommodated all of our special requests and guaranteed all his work. We would have Gary do work for us in the future and would highly recommend FIRST IMPRESSIONS to anyone looking for a good crew to do excellent work.

I got a quote from First Impressions in August of 2014. He rescheduled several times before anyone actually came to the house, which I should have realized was a bad sign. Once we notified them that we wanted to contract, he hesitated and told me it was getting toward the end of the year and he didn't know if he could fit us in. In September he confirmed that we would have to wait until 2015, which we agreed to believing our work would be done first up in the Spring. I called him as Spring approached and he hemmed and hawed about the frost line and when he could start the work, then promised he would complete the job by mid to late May. When I called to find out when we would be scheduled, he informed me that he's not doing work in Ann Arbor anymore and doesn't know when he will be in town and can do our work. Stating that it would be at least two weeks, but then saying that he was turning down work in Ann Arbor. After going back and forth, he told me that if I wanted it sooner I should use someone else. He could have told me this months ago and I'd be enjoying my patio by now. Not reliable.

Gary was polite and dependable. We hired him in the late spring and we knew we'd have to wait a while-but getting it done right away wasn't as important as getting it done correctly. The weather pushed the project back. Gary was good at keeping us in the loop with text messages. No complaints.

Gary was very pleasant to work with. He returned my phone call promptly, showed up for the quote in a timely manner and was easy going and easy to work with. I signed the quote and he explained he needed the weather to be rain free and would call me to set up a time when we had a good window of weather. I received his call on a Saturday and he arrived later that day and completed the work to my satisfaction. Good communication, good job--he will get my business again.

This project could not have gone better. Our previous asphalt driveway had been removed with a construction project the prior year and Gary had come out to see that the gravel/mud driveway was a disaster. We had so much water runoff from the roadway that we had to have one of our 4 wheel drive vehicles towed out of our own driveway that spring. Gary designed a solution that raised the level of our driveway using his concrete solution and now we have a beautiful concrete driveway and flower edging along the front of our home. What I loved about working with Gary is he worked with me on what I really needed and also helped me look at future options as well so that I could see options at various cost points and did not try to hard sell me on everything all at once. He knew we had many needs for this house and realized we had to do them as we could afford them and prioritize. He was totally willing to help us design for the future. When I needed guidance on what should I do for an edging he gave me options that I could do myself as well as other options we could consider together later. His team always cleaned up after themselves and went out of their way to let me know if they had a change of plan to be there or not to work. Gary and his team are great to work with and I would highly recommend his workmanship both for quality and for price. I would also recommend them for the way they work with people. I find that sometimes is the hard thing to find and he truly excels in it. Thanks Gary - we'll be inviting you back!

Contacted Gary and he came out within a short period of time and gave me a written estimate for either plain or stamped concrete. Contracted with him to do the job with the understanding we had to let the soil settle first because of another recent construction project. Gary always called me back and let me know the status of things. He came out on a Friday afternoon and began setting the forms. When my wife and I explained we wanted the sidewalk located further from the house, his team pulled up the forms and started over. They had to cut a number of roots from a nearby tree so they could dig the proper depth and have a good base. They also installed PVC under the walk for the sprinklers and a drain tube for a nearby downspout.Finished setting the forms on Saturday and put down 21AA gravel as a base. Poured the cap and sidewalk on the following Monday. Came out Wednesday and cut, power-washed and sealed the concrete and it looks beautiful! Gary and his team did a great job!

Amazing. Could not be more happy with the work or the manner in which it was done. Gary was great and communicated all details. Crew was professional and friendly. Early summer is a busy time of year - WORTH THE WAIT!!

Went very well. No surprises. Gave me a discount for being an Angie's List member. Met with me to review the job. Provided quote after the meeting same day. Said we would have to wait until the frost laws were lifted due to the weight of the cement truck. Gave me some approximate timing. Obtained and paid for the permits. Set up timing for placing the forms and also the pour of the foundation. Met the timing plan and called each time the day before showing up to work. Slab looks great. Clean up done well. Had two different neighbors ask for their business card. Would recommend them.

Responded to my initial call with a call back within hours. Set up an appointment to come to my home and provide a written quote. Called before coming. Came on time. Provided discount for being an Angie's List member. After given the job handled all the cost and time to obtain the necessary permit. Called to set up a time for the framing of the area. Arrived on time and completed. Area very clean when finished. Waited for inspection. Called to verify the orange tag(approval) was in place. Scheduled time for the pour. Arrived with a crew to finish the job. Completed and cleaned the area. Returned in a few days to remove the forms. Once again cleaned up the area. Overall very satisfied with quality and price.

Gary Watts did a great job adding a new parking pad on the side of our driveway. He quoted us quickly, and at a fair price. His team removed a small "turn around" concrete slab, laid fresh gravel and sloped for drainage. The new slab was poured one day later. Gary's crew also did a good job cleaning up afterward. I would definitely hire them again in the future.

Most companies didn't even reposond to us since we were a small job. First Impressions communicated with us every step of the way and were able to fit us in amongst a few other jobs. As with any outdoor work, weather did play a factor in the scheduling, but we were always informed. The threaded rod was put into place as our drawing requested, and the concrete looks great! The area around the pad was cleaned up before leaving, and their equipment didn't even leave any marks on the lawn. We would recommend them, and use them again.

Gary had completed an earlier project with us. We were so pleased with the results, we called him first for our next project...a new patio. We made an appointment for an estimate and Gary arrived on time. We spent about 45 minutes talking about the design and showing Gary pictures of things that we liked. Gary sketched out a design and quoted a very fair price. His ideas for the design were better than we could have designed ourselves. We agreed on a deposit and proposed start date. Because of the rain, our date was pushed back several weeks. As the start date got closer, Gary communicated the timeframe for the project over the phone. The team arrived on time and was very courteous. We have large dogs and they were very flexible in working around them. The project was completed on time and looks great. During the framing, Gary realized that something wasn't perfect, so he stopped the work and reframed it so that it met his high standards. Gary also added a step that wasn't planned. We have received many compliments on the patio and it looks great. Overall we are very happy with First Impressions and are looking forward to our next project!

They did a really great job. They changed the pitch of my driveway to allow better drainage for water, and installed an extra step that was not in the original plans. The workers were very courteous and helpful. The only issues we had were as a result of bad weather that caused delays.

I scheduled two different appointments for an estimate with this company. After not showing up or calling for the first appointment, Gary called and asked if he could he could try again- I reluctantly said yes and we set up an another appointment for the next day. I made a point of staying home- he never showed or called. This is an unacceptable business practice in my book and definately a bad First Impression.

We had Gary and his crew put in a stamped patio in back with a walkway to the front. At the last minute we added a walkway to the front porch and a new step.... which he had no problem fitting in. He was patient and worked with me to make sure I was getting what I wanted. He kept us informed of his time schedule and possible delays. We appreciated his communication and professionalism. .His crew was respectful and courteous and knew what they were doing. They all worked hard and left the yard cleaned up. I had quite a few estimates and Gary's prices were very good. He was full of suggestions and knew what would look good. I am so HAPPY with the results. ....... Cindy

We met Gary while walking our dogs. He was finishing a job in the neighborhood. The work looked great, so we asked for a card. Gary gave us an estimate and a potential scheduled date, but told us it could change based on the weather. We chose Gary because of his competitive bid and interest in the design in the patio. He seemed easy to work with! The work started two days later than scheduled due to the weather. I really appreciated that because it demonstrated a commitment to quality. The first day was dedicated to excavating the old driveway. Gary and the crew were very careful with plants adjacent to the driveway, but also got rid of a light post that never worked, so I was very grateful!! They poured the driveway. It looks GREAT! They put up the cones to make sure that no one drove on it. The small patio area in the front looks great too! Totally recommend Gary and First Impressions Concrete.
