Blessing Company Plumbing and Heating

They're pricey but the service is extremely excellent.

They came on time and appeared to be quite knowledgeable. They gave an estimate of $1,700 to just replace the well pressure tank. They quoted an additional $150 to install a kitchen faucet that I already had. I told them I would think about it and get back with them. The prices seemed high, so I got an estimate from another plumber that received great recommendations on Angie's List. That plumber quoted $600.00 to replace the well pressure tank and $25.00 to install the kitchen faucet. That's a difference of $1,225.00 for the same work! We have used Blessing before. They do a great job, but their prices are absolutely outrageous!

They are a very good company, and I would highly recommend them. They are professional and know their product. I have never seen such a neat installation in my life. I had a furnish that put off water and once they installed the new furnish it was all gone. They put the pipes along the floor board, and you barely notice they are there because they put them in so neat. I wanted to move the furnish in a different spot, and they did it for me with no problem. I was very impressed with their work. They are also very good at explaining everything they do to us.

We are very happy with them and we would recommend them. We have a contract with them. They are a heating and cooling company but they also check our plumbing. They are very responsive and very professional. We have used them for years.

I think they are more expensive than other places. They have a service agreement that they offer and you can pay them a certain amount of money. Then they give you a discount on any services that you need that year plus it includes like cleaning your furnace, its maintenance and things like that. They also look over your whole plumbing system and they suggested some things as well. I thought their prices were pretty high. If we needed to have our drain to come from the basement from our tub replaced, they had a pretty high price that wasn't going to do. So we used another plumbing company. One of the things they told us that we should do, the other company thought that we didn't need to do that. They are a good company though. They did a good job and they are a high quality company. Everything was just fine with the work that they did. They are very reputable and they do a good job. I don't agree with their price and they told us things that we didn't need to do. I will not use their services again in the future.

We have a lot of water out here, and the system is based on water. If the power goes out, as long as I have city water, it will activate the backup pump, and it will keep running. I have a contract with them where they come out regularly to check out my furnace, air conditioning and plumbing. I like having this security blanket kind of thing for me because I am a woman alone and I don’t like dealing with those issues. They are a little expensive, and I do have some concerns about that. I don’t know if I will keep it up for a long time. Right now, they are fixing some things for me, so I am going to stay with them. They have excellent service people; I have no complaints about that. It is a company, and they have got a lot of plumbers; I don’t have to worry about chasing one plumber down. For me, it is more a matter of convenience; it is not that I don’t care about the money, but convenience and accessibility are really important for me.

We've been customers for several years. We have a contract with them and pay them a monthly fee. They come out in the fall to service the furnace and check it out. In the spring they do the air conditioning. We are very happy with them. They are always very polite and professional. It is a local company and we like that. We don’t know how their price stacks up but we are happy with them.

Noticed a pinhole leak in pipe leading to sump pump. Taped it off. Called Blessing because they seemed like a honest, local business. They were polite and they did come quickly. I needed to get it fixed before it caused more damage, so I needed to act right away. I wasn't keen on their billing....one fee regardless. They only had to add a joint to the pipe....maybe $5 worth of materials, but the cost was steep. Single parent on a fixed budget, so it hurt. It's not been a recurring problem though....so I am happy about that.

Our furnace went out in the early hours one morning. We also could not light the stove, water heater and dryer. When I first contacted the company, they suggested that we contact the propane company. Later that day before the propane company came out, I was able to get everything to work except for the furnace. The propane company's technician did not arrive until 6:00 PM. I went ahead and called the Heating and Cooling company to schedule an appointment. They informed me that if the technician arrived before 8:00 PM, the service call charge would be at the standard rate. If it was after 8:00 PM, it would be at a higher rate. It turned out that there was a problem with the propane line. The service technician called us at 7:45 PM and decided to wait until the next morning to have them come out. The next morning the service technician called and he arrived here a little before 8:00 AM. He did a thorough job of checking out our furnace. He was here for roughly 2 hours.

This job could have not have been easier. It was a straight shot of about 8 feet. Their estimate, which cost me $80, came in at over $700. I had done enough remodeling work to know that this job was two hours tops. I found a handy man who did the job for $200. This company preys on people who have no idea what a job should cost.

This business has no qualms about charging exorbitant prices for their services. In my laundry room I had a shut off valve that was corroded. I thought the replacement was going to be a major job so I called Blessing Co. in Grand Blanc. When I called, I was told they would charge $45 for the service call. Since I wasn't home at the time, I told my wife to call me if the price was over $300. She called and sure enough, $400 was their flat rate fee. I was shocked but he told her he may have to cut thru the drywall to get to the pipes. I arrived home 20 minutes later and he was walking out the door. He turned off the water, replaced both of the water valves and was kind enough to hook up the washer lines. For 20 minutes of work, I was charged $400 or the equivalent of $1200 per hour. He didn't have to cut thru the drywall and in essence scared my wife into believing the project was large enough to warrant $400 not 20 minutes of work. After filing a complaint with the BBB, they were "kind" enough to drop their price to $189. That is still $567/hr! I paid that bill but everywhere I go, I tell people to stay away from Blessing.

They did a great job. They were very thorough. They told me that because I have a crawlspace I couldn't clean my ducts but some companies might say that they could but they would just go through the motions and not clean it so I was pleased they were honest with me. They wore the things on their feet to keep everything clean. They worked hard on the pump, it took a long time. They were very honest and thorough and I'll be using them again.

We pay $15 a month for the contract and that also covers the air conditioning maintenance in the early summer. We have been pleased with their professionalism. They are a local family-owned company, and their representatives have always been very professional and polite. We found them in the phonebook. I give their price a B because free is better than anything! We are new to the area and don't have anyone to compare their quality to.

Their service is excellent. They give you a two-hour window as to when they will arrive, and they call when they are on their way. Their people seem knowledgeable and efficient.

We had a leaking pressure release valve in a gas water heater and it seemed to be stuck on such that my husband could not get it off to replace it. The gentleman from Blessings came out immediately to examine the heater, diagnose the problem, and give us a repair estimate ($300-400). The gentleman was courteous and prompt but before even talking about the current problem, he did a sales pitch for a "maintenance contract" that consisted of monthly payments to offset future problems. He also suggested selling us a new heater. We had checked the cost of a replacement part through the local hardware and felt that this was too much, so we paid the house call charge and declined to have him do the repair. We subsequently contacted another licensed professional plumber who replaced the valve and the cost of both the replacement part and the labor was $160. We have subsequently talked to several other residents of the area and heard similar stories about this business, very high prices that seem to exceed local standards. I cannot say that I heard any complaints about the quality of their work, however.

It went well. From the time the estimate was given until the job was finished. I have been a Blessing and Co (Grand Blanc, MI Office) customer since 1999 and have been satisfied with the work done every t ime. You get what you pay for.

Called, because I had sink parts that had come apart, I was told there was a fee for the visit (pretty standard) and that the tech would need to see it in order tell the cost of labor and materials. I figured this would be a 20 min job at most if he had the parts on his truck. What happened next was unbelievable , I feel so ripped off! The tech told me they use a "fixed price" system to cost out a job - something I have not seen before, whipped out a binder, and looked up change out a part under the sink (I guess). The price started out at close to $300 and when I looked horrified, it went down to $175 (the partner price?!) I said I was thinking it would be under $100. I told him that the person answering the phone should have mentioned the pricing and given me a range so that I could have declined a visit. At that point he told me "when I just have to replace one part or tighten a few joints under the sink, it can cost as little as $45..." People that is all he needed to do for me! He then gave me "free advice" that I needed to go buy a part (note 1 part) and install it.

We didn’t like this company so we didn’t use them. He wanted to charge $300 just to cut a 20 inch square out of the drywall so he could access the pipe and he wanted to charge $700 for the repair. The company that did the work charged $99 for everything. When he left, I cut the drywall out myself and it took about three minutes. The man was very nice and professional. I think the guy that came out did a thorough job trying to check it out without cutting the ceiling but the pricing was horrible. Also, they were trying to push a maintenance service on us and I didn’t like that.

We would not use this company in the future.

In both cases, the service person was prompt and did the installation so I could sleep each night. The first case - the repair person was the ultimate professional; in the second case, the repair guy was capable. But I was very happy that they were able to do it. Wasn't liking the cost to replace two sump pumps, but glad my basement wasn't getting wet (flooded) around Christmas and New Years. Hmmmm, should I mark my calendar for three years from now?

Good. Prompt answer/arrival. Job completed, work site neat and clean.

Peace of mind is one of the best things that came out of our experience with Blessing. With the new service contract, we know everything will be taken care of for us and checked on a regular basis. They will set up the appointments themselves by reminding us over the phone that it is time. They will be coming out seasonally for the regular checkups, which will be about 4 times a year. We are so glad we found such a reliable and professional company.
