Provider was excellent, on time, professional, courteous and professional. Originally thought price was high compared to what could be purchased at Home Depot and Lowes. They installed a top quality system. Quality far superior. Price was very fair.

Gary and his crew did an excellent job from start to finish. We felt very confident in hiring Gary (over the competition). Gary's father started the business many years ago and he was able to learn the trade at a very early age. Gary is now the owner and operator of the business and he takes great pride in his workmanship. He was on-site performing the work each day- We chose not to share our personal information in regard to cost of service. We felt that we received "value" in the quality of work that was performed and that no short-cuts were taken. It was a big job and we are happy with the results. We would hire him again!

An excellent job was provided by Atlantic Coast Waterproofing, from the quoting and estimating process right through to completion. Gary's crew who came to the house were very professional, polite, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be around. Gary went out of his way to take the time to assist my wife with understanding the complete task of the job at hand. Gary kept us informed of the project details with status updates, schedule planning, and participated in conversations regarding our project and offered suggestions based on past experiences. Gary also has a strong network of support from other contractors who work along with him. All of these individuals were equally as professional as Gary and his crew. They show great friendship and the ability to work side by side without any issues. Definitely good money spent.

Select: Angie's List really helped me in my selection of who to to invite to my house to provide a proposal. I looked for honesty, quality, price, meeting commitments, and willingness to work with me. Sales call: Gary, owner of company, met my expectations of what I was looking for and in line with other reviews. What really stands out is taking care of what is causing the problem, not just selling another product. Gary is the only one that offered suggestions to address a problem that he did not make any money on. He was willing to spend the time to make sure I understood the process and proposal. Cost: I am not providing details because I feel the information is misleading depending on everything being done. I can tell you each contractor's proposal was based upon linear feet, which my house had a large basement perimeter. I am very concerned with making sure I get the best value and trust that the contractor will deliver as promised. I selected Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. Homeowner prep: This was totally my responsibility and it took a lot of time and effort. The processes was the same for all contractors I got proposals from. I believe Gary was the most realistic on space needed and dealing with obstacles. Gary also was really good to work with

I had a good experience. The initial assessment of leaks in foundation was thorough and exhibited expertise and clear explanations. We sat down and talked through an estimate for each part of the job. We settled on what we wanted done and agreed on a fair price. (I have not entered the price in my review because I'd rather not share that information; it seemed fair to me). Responded quickly to calls to schedule the work. Came on the scheduled day. Had left it at "in the afternoon," which turned out to be 2pm, which was fine. Completed all work in one day. All work appeared to have been done carefully and properly. All interactions were professional. I would recommend this place based on my experience.
Description of Work: Several smaller jobs: Replaced worn valve in sump line. Drilled vent hole in sump line to prevent vapor lock. Repaired leaking seal around electrical conduit in foundation by drilling out and applying cement. Repaired leaking rod hole in foundation. Repaired leaking sump line at exit site outside.

Gary Lustig is the owner of Atlantic Coast Waterproofing, Inc. When he came to our house to inspect our basement and give us a quote for the repairs, he was very thorough in educating us on the cause of the leaks in our walls. It was a problem we had been battling for the last ten years. His approach to the problem made sense to us. He quoted us a price to do the job and did not at any time add to his original quote. He pulled a permit with the City of Troy and his work passed all inspections the first time--both during the process and at the completion. He was ready to start the work on the date we had agreed upon and then graciously allowed us two additional days to prepare the basement since we weren't ready before he started our job. Gary was always willing to explain to us exactly what they were doing and why and always asked if we had any questions about the project. He finished the project on time! His workmen were polite and hardworking. At our house, because there are no windows that open in the basement, only glass block windows, Gary and his workers had to hand carry up the stairs endless buckets filled with cement chunks that had been excavated along the entire perimeter of the basement of our large ranch house to make a trench so that the Aqua-Flow Floor System could be installed. Then, once it was installed, they mixed concrete and hand carried buckets of wet cement down to the basement to fill in the trench. The cement finisher did a perfect job of joining the new cement to the rest of the basement floor. Gary and his workers did a great job of cleaning up every day leaving as little a mess as possible. One of his workers broke a hinge on our basement door as he was removing it to allow easier access to the basement, and he personally purchased a new hinge and installed it. We were very impressed with his honesty. We felt we were being given a fair price when we signed the contract with Atlantic Coast, but after seeing how hard everyone worked breaking up cement and carrying buckets of cement up and down the stairs, we thought the pricing seemed like a true bargain. This was not a job that we could ever have done ourselves. The best part of this whole project though is the fact that the leaks are now contained and in the especially rainy weeks we have had since completion of the job, the floor has been perfectly dry. We no longer cringe when storms come and wonder how much water we will have to mop up. We have recommended Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to others and will continue to do so.
Description of Work: Atlantic Coast Waterproofing installed an Aqua-Flow Floor System; Pollymeric Wall Ventilation System; and Dura-Shield Wall Barrier System over the vertical cracks in our poured basement walls to correct leaking of the walls onto the floor of our basement.

It took us a couple months to prepare our messy basement for this job, and Gary was flexible with us about the start date. He and his crew worked h****** the job for about 4 days, starting early every morning. He did everything he told us he would, including replacing our sump pump. I was pleased with the smoothness of the cement floor replacement when the job was finished. When we had our next big rain we found that some water was still getting in at a few places. We called Gary. He was out within the hour! He saw a few spots that needed more work. There was a hole around a pipe that led to the outside where some of the water was coming in. He had had no way of knowing that when it wasn't raining. There also was a crack behind a stairwell that needed a little more work. The biggest leak we still had was water coming in from a basement window well outside the house. Water was pooling in the well, and leaking in heavily over the base of the window, where it was absorbed by our insulation and dripping over the other side of our new drainage system, which typically catches all the water coming down the wall and carries it via the drain hose to the sump pump, which pumps it out of the house. Gary and his crew came back on a Saturday and did all the repair work we needed. He sealed the pipe hole with cement, and did some more work around that impossible to reach crack by the stairs to insure the water would go down to the drain, instead of out into the room. The only part that wasn't covered by his original estimate was the basement window job. He dug out the earth and stones from that window well, installed a drainage pipe that led directly to his newly installed system on the inside of the house, then covered it up with gravel. On the inside, he cemented both where the pipe entered the house, and also the basement floor where the pipe went through. For all this extra work, Gary only charged us a fraction of what the job was worth. (The extra work I hired him to do probably wasn't even necessary. After that rain, but before Atlantic Coast came back, my husband removed the drywall and the insulation behind it that was under the window well. It rained again. The water didn't come in. Gary's original system worked. I just wanted the outside drain put in for additional peace of mind.) The last thing I'd like to mention: The people who built my house never installed a proper sump water drainage system. Gary noticed that, and hooked a 4-inch diameter hose to the sump pipe on the outside of the house and arranged it to drain well away from the house, so that water won't be adding pressure to the outside of our basement walls. He also patiently answered my countless questions about my options for what to do with the hose. He's very knowledgeable about building codes and landscaping. Thanks, Gary. You guys did a great job, and your price was more than fair.
Description of Work: Gary promptly responded to our request for an estimate to waterproof our basement. He examined our basement walls, inside and out, to get a scope of the problem. He immediately noticed the visible black mold. He also found that our sump pump was not functioning properly. He then sat down with us to explain what was going on with our basement, and what different approaches we could take to fix it. He was very knowledgable, and good at communicating everything we needed to know about our options. We chose to have him and his crew improve our basement's drainage system by creating a trench around the perimeter of the inside of our basement, installing a large drain hose, covering it with stones, then re-cementing the basement floor over it.

I am soooooooooo glad we didn't take this on ourselves. After watching a full crew of guys slaving away in a pit surrounding our house for 2 weeks, I realized that we do not really want to dig out, power wash or concrete our field stone basement. Nor do we want to tar muck the exterior of the basement. If it took them two weeks, we wouldn't have finished the same year we started. There just isn't time if you work full time. So not a weekend project. Furthermore, I probably wouldn't have even hired a different company to do this. But these guys are real professionals. They sat down and explained the full process, checked in with us at the end of every day to discuss the progress, and showed up early every day (including Saturdays) and didn't leave til the job was done. These guys don't work multiple jobs while they're doing your project. You get their full attention. On top of it, they are politer than polite! When they came in the house for sump pump work, they even took their boots off for us, without being asked. They cleaned up after themselves, put our yard back in together, removed a bush for us that we otherwise were even planning to pay someone to remove. All the bonuses really made it extra worth it. On top of that, we have a guarantee that will pass on when we sell the house. There were things they could have cut costs on, but they didn't. They really know their stuff, and it's their business to do it right. Bottom line? These guys really want to be employed. They want your business, they want to be working for you. It's evident in the way they'll treat you and your house. Do it, your basement walls will thank you. For real, Atlantic is the way to go.
Description of Work: We hired Atlantic to water proof our basement. I really appreciated Gary's candor. He could have tried to up-sell us on structural changes like the other companies we called. We thought we had issues with needing our foundation leveled. The other companies just offered multiple (very expensive) under-pinning products. But Gary showed us out multiple points of evidence that our foundation was not the issue. Except of course for the pools of water we were planning to fix ourselves (some day).

I called Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to inquire on the details of basement waterproofing and although it was later in the evening a real person picked up the phone and said they would have the owner call me back. Gary (the owner) called me within only a few minutes. He took the time to not only listed to my questions but also took an interest on the issues involved and made sure I knew the right questions to ask even if I did not end up going with Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to do the job. Gary is a very knowledgeable and professional expert in his field.

I was having trouble with water leaking into my basement where our exterior deck joined the house. Gary met me on-site on my schedule the next business day and spent over an hour identifying the source of the leak and making recommendations on how to get it resolved. As it turns out, the work (flashing repair) wasn't something Atlantic Coast does - and even though this was identified as the likely cause early on, Gary continued to diagnose the problem until it was conclusively traced back to a bad flashing installation. He didn't have to that, but he did. And for that, he has my thanks - and my recommendation to anyone who would have need of his services. Thanks, Gary.

Called on Friday and Gary came out today Monday 4/8/13. We spoke briefly on the phone Friday about the situation. He was going to be here between 10-11. A lady in the office called and said it would be closer to 11. Gary called and said he was going to be late by 15 min. Atleast he called to tell me he was going to be late, compared to other companies.... We spoke briefly in the basement and I showed him the areas where I was having problems. He said he was going to look outside and come back inside and take measurement and then go over everything. Gary explained everything to me and he was very thourough. Since I already had talked to a dozen contractors already, i had a good idea of what needed to be done, but he made it a bit clearer for me. Problem with him was that he said I needed to replace my wall or use i beams to correct the problem. HOWEVER, he would NOT warranty the i beams. He would only warranty if he REPLACED the wall. Had a structural engineer look at my basement wall and he said I DID NOT need to have the wall replaced and that I could just use i beams to correct the problem!!! Also, Gary said he would help us go after the previous waterproofers who did the job 3 months ago but he would ONLY do that IF we hired him!!

I called Gary, he came out same day to check & give estimate. Upon examination of basement and crawl space,he went over leakage and cause, stated he could not do the work, as it involved deck water running over basement walls, and would involve carpentry, not wall sealing. He did refer me to a contractor, who came out next day and gave me a written estimate. I'm to have a insurance adjuster in tomorrow, who will give his opinion, and then I will make decision as to how I will proceed. Based on his courtesy & response, I would call Gary again.

They did a fabulous job! Very professional, very fast, we couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: We had a "slow" leak in our finished basement. The carpet would get wet after a heavy rain or if snow had melted...then the basement started smelling musty. Gary came out on a Saturday just before Christmas, gave us a quote....on MONDAY he, along with his assistant, fixed the problem from the inside...they had to remove the plaster board, 2 studs and a stretch of the base plate, jack-hammer a trough, and open it up to the weeping tile, chisel-out the degraded part of the cement, disinfect everything, install a fiberglass-like panel, and patch the floor. They were done in about 4 hours, NO dust from the jack-hammering - they had sealed everything off in plastic, no obnoxious odors, and best of all they FIXED the leak. A couple of months after the repair, we had massive local rains...about 8+ inches fell around here....our basement stayed dry...no damp, no musty odor.

The elaborate project would have torn up a significant part of our master bedroom and walk-in closet that had just been remodeled. He wanted to bring in a cement contractor and attempt a huge project resupporting the foundation. I never got a quote but I am sure it would have been over $10,000.00. I have an old lake house that has been added on to multiple times and had a leak where 2 foundations were joined together. The previous contractors did a poor job of finishing things off and thus the problem. I have never had any dry wall cracks to show foundation shifts and I felt after just remodeling he went overboard to get an expensive project. Sta-Dry of Lansing came out and never mentioned any thoughts of foundation problems. Fixed the problem, including hiding all the plumbing work behind the drywall in the bedroom and did the project for $2,600 with a lifetime warranty (no exceptions like Gary likes to sell against) and finished in one day and cleaned up everything.
Description of Work: Guarded as I felt I was sold an unnecessary and elaborate project.

Response from Atlantic Coast Waterproofing Inc
I was very upset when I read this POTENTIAL customer's review, especially when I never gave a formal estimate. How in the world a contractor, such as Stay-Dry Waterproofing of Lansing could mislead a homeowner and more importantly the Fenton Building department into believing this would completely solve the problem. Therefore, I called the building depatment in Fenton and I was informed by them that the homeowner and contractor went completely around them and performed the work illegally without pulling the necessary permits required by law. The homeowner is subject to fines and or imprisonment by the City and State laws. This could cause much difficulty and fraud if the homeowner elected to sell the home in the future. Atlantic Coast Waterproofing Inc, will not and never has been persuaded by the almighty dollar to perform illegal and inadequate work! Gary Lustig Owner, Atlantic Coast Waterproofing, Inc.

Gary came out promptly to provide an estimate. The estimate alone took 2 hours as the walls are covered with drywall, so he need to remove a portion of the drywall to locate the problem. Once identified, he explained the problem and ways to prevent additional problems going forward (such as re-routing my downspouts outside). He also inspected the rest of the basement to see if there were other issues. He explained my repair options and the pros and cons of each. Once I chose him to complete the work, they were able to come the next day to complete the repair, re-rout my downspouts, and also replace my old sump pump. Overall, very happy with the service.

From initial contact to completion of the job, I was pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. At the end of each day, Gary explained what had been accomplished -- and what he planned to do the next day. When my ancient basement provided some unforeseen challenges, Gary made sure I was aware of the situation, and presented me with my options before proceeding. The job took a day or two longer than expected -- at no additional cost to me. I appreciated the thoroughness of the crew -- as well as their professional demeanor, tidiness, and careful attention to detail.
Description of Work: Gary conducted a thorough evaluation of my leaky basement, and provided a detailed description of the options available to me. We agreed on a plan, which involved cutting and removing a strip of concrete from the perimeter of the basement floor, removing old drain tile, installing a drainage system in the excavated trench, installing a sump pump, and pouring new concrete. In addition, a short flight of stairs had to be rebuilt, and an ancient concrete laundry tub broken up and removed. Gary's crew also patched a below-grade crack on the outside of the basement wall.

I have been extremely satisfied with the dedication and professional conduct with this company. I know any time I have a problem they are truly wanting to help me no questions asked, no run around. The telephones are answered by a person not a computer. I give them an A plus on follow up.They truly do stand behind their guarantee. I have paid nothing for the follow up.
Description of Work: Almost a year after my waterproofing I had a small leak. I called the company and even though it was a Sat my service was immediate. The problem was not the water proofing they had provided but my landscaping was down hill toward my basement and the water from the sump pump was draining back in due to frozen ground and landscaping. My house is seventy yrs old and the yard just has not been kept up as I have gotten older. Gary was great, he provided a longer drainage pipe and solved the problem in a couple hours. Dry as a bone through the worst storms. Before this waterproofing I had water in the basement monthly..

I had this company, along with several others, provide an estimate to solve a water leak problem in the basement. They were very professional in the quoting process, and did suggest a more aggressive approach to solve the problem than the other companies did. They were the most expensive of all the quotes. I was leaning toward having them do the work, and was doing the final evaluation of two sources. I phoned Atlantic Coast and asked them to provide a couple of names and phone numbers of customers they had recently done work for. For an unknown reason, they said that they didn't want to provide me with any names until I had made the determination that they were going to do the work. They didn't want people bothering their previous customers unless these people were going to be new customers. This seemed strange to me, and gave me an uneasy feeling about this firm. I subsequently received an additional quote from another company and had them do the work.
Description of Work: Did not do any work for me.

One crack in the basement wall lead us to be proactive about other issues we were not aware of, thus protecting our home from further damage. Thank you to Atlantic Coast, Gary Lustig, and the work crew. We are extremely pleased with the response time, the professionalism of the crew, the work completed, and the price. We would defiantly refer Atlantic Coast and would not hesitate to call upon them in the future.
Description of Work: A crack in the basement wall, lead us to Atlantic Coast Waterproofing on Angie’s List. The initial meeting with Gary Lustig was very informative. After he inspected the basement and the outside of the house, he drew and explained the problems in detail, what needed our attention, and the options that he could offer. He showed us pictures from past jobs to help us visualize and understand each option that he was explaining. We decided to have the basement wall crack fixed, install a submersible pump, a partial drainage system, and a drywell. The drainage system along one side of the house will take care of inside mold. The drywell will give drainage to the downspout, sump pump and drainage system. Two existing downspouts along and under the deck were extended. The rear and the other side of the house were re-graded to keep the water away from the house. Gary explained things clearly and kept us informed throughout the process. The crew (including Gary) worked hard completing the job. They were done in three days and cleaned up completely. You know the saying, “Leave things better than when you came”? That was just what they did!

The work was finished yesterday and I could not be any happier with my results. There were extra expenses since no maintenance had been done in about 50 yrs, so that was expected. The sump pump had been incorrectly draining. That was fixed. The crack on one wall was repaired with FRP board and a space to under the split level was fixed so no more leaking from under the main part of the house.. The workmen found leaks in so many places no wonder it was flooding! All were repaired. The concrete rubbish from the basement was removed a bucket at a time by hand and the workmen in turn took all gravel to the basement by hand even though it was very hot and humid, they never slowed down. The cupboards had been removed and wood taken away as promised. Moldy drywall removed. . All brought up to code. It rained buckets yesterday and my basement was dry as a bone! As work progressed I was kept up to date on every new discovery as we opened the can of worms that are this basement. The staff was polite an thoroughly neat and clean. Gary Lustig, the owners son, was in charge of the work., I could not recommend him more highly. He had a wide range of problems in an basement that was desperate for maintenance and solved them swiftly and skillfully. I would call him an old fashion craftsman rather than a repairman, taking pride in his work. As we got further into problems (wiring not up to code, no flashing around the basement door causing leaks, plumbing problems )Gary referred me to a contractor at DEC General Home improvement Dino Campagna. No maintenance had been done on the main house since the 1960's so it was also a mess. Presently he is working on my house to bring it up to code. If you want honest skilled work and a honest days work for your dollar. Hire Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.
Description of Work: My mother is 97 and her basement leaks in several places due to poor up keep .Now it was flooding weekly. She had mold. I got estimates from 4 companies from $4 thousand to paint waterproofing on walls to $6640 to remove concrete from the edges of the basement floor, install a perimeter drain guard system and gravel in the floor and replace concrete. Since I live with my mother and am a senior citizen myself I was somewhat wary of sales pitches that promise everything thinking I was a rube. Atlantic Coast Waterproofing Inc. was the 4th estimate. The salesman was slightly hard sell but we are both old school so I understood that. A new sump pump was needed, there had been a garbage can with a sump pump inside previously. I had an entire wall of floor to ceiling shelves that had to be removed to dig along the wall. I was promised not only that the wood would be torn out but the moldy wood would be hauled away and the mold sprayed. All things in the way (old tables etc) would be moved out of the way and covered with plastic. After construction floors would be cleaned. All work guaranteed.
