Everything went great! I've had a wet basement since 1997. When I go in the basement now, everything is different. It feels and smells dryer. The solution that Atlantic Coast used was much more comprehensive and less expensive than the solutions offered by the other companies that gave me estimates.

Very professional. Seemed like quality work. Crack in basement wall was covered by a sheathing. Part of the floor was jackhammered out and re-cemented over tiling. Any water that now comes through the wall flows down into the tiling and into the drain tiles under the floor. Representative also noticed that our sump pump was not working, so we had it replaced.

He was wonderful, had the lowest bid and then even gave me the bigger pipe for the same low cost. They got it done in less than a day, I was very satisfied.

Gary and his crew started on the day he said he would. They were on time and worked continuously breaking only for lunch. Gary worked along side his crew and there was never a harsh word between them. They were professional, kind and considerate. I have never felt so comfortable with workers in my home. The job itself is messy but they did everything they could to keep the dust and dirt from migrating to other parts of my house using tarps. During the day and at the end of the day's work, Gary showed me the work they did and explained everything. He also said we could call him any time if we had questions. They did a great job and I have not had any leaks. If you need this type of work done, look no further! You won't find a company with the integrity and professionalism of ACW or one that knows how to get the job done!

He first mentioned that he is not a salesman on a commission and owns the business with over 30 thirty years experience..plus being around his father in the business and learning as a child. His knowledge was very evident, even to a clueless woman, such as I. I did have my daughter and a contractor/builder friend with much experience come to be there for his report and recommendations, which he completely supported and was glad to wait for them to get here and add questions or comments that I may not think of. He walked the contractor back over the basements and exterior showing him what he had found and his suggestions for remedies. I am taking many of his suggestions today as far as a second dehumidifier and longer extensions put on the downspouts. I will be conferring with my relatives and contractor friend as to what I will do now and what to do in the spring. I also may be having the mold tested to see the type and dangers before deciding on my timing. But...I am completely satisfied with the quality of knowledge and professionalism of the company and highly recommend them. I had several friends say...why would you pay Angie's List $49.95 for the recommendation, as.all estimates should be free. My answer is this was much more than an estimate by a probable salesman..It was an inspection and about a two hour education. I can't speak on his pricing estimates, as I am not completely educated yet on quality pricing, and what I will be doing at this time, but I can speak on his integrity and honesty. There was a section that had some wet wood on flooring overhead and he said he could recommend someone he felt confident in..but he would not be the person for that job. His knowledge of expertise is underground. He did voice his opinion and ideas for me on it though. He went through the crawl space also. Outside he even gave opinions on the gutters, downspouts and soffits to prevent drainage into the foundation. I will not hesitate to call him for the work as soon as I am ready.

Let me start by saying my husband and I are new to Michigan and come from a part of the country where sump pumps do not exist. As such we were very wary of them and getting us to agree to one was not a small feat, even being freshly exposed to the importance of them after finding the water in the basement. Gary and his crew were very pleasant to work with. He was patient with me during the consult as I asked a million questions and it was late by the time he left and I know he had been on another job all day. He is very knowledgeable and explained thoroughly all the differences between the setup he was recommending and what all his competitors had recommended/sold. In the end he was not the lowest cost bid, but I liked his professionalism, the fact that he would be the one doing the work, and his system seemed the most logical to us. I think his work was well worth the price paid. The week they came out was the coldest week in November, temperatures never got about 20 F I believe. He insisted on doing the work and did a surprisingly good job at keeping the house warm despite having the heat off for the first two days to limit the dust. He went above and beyond when our furnace wouldn't turn on after the second day because of the jack hammering. The problem with the furnace was by no means a fault of Gary and his crew, but he still did everything he could to try to fix it before the repair man arrived. It turns out a wire in the furnace switch was loose and the jack hammering moved it just enough so it lost contact. Again, not at all Gary's fault. He and his crew were very friendly and every time I came down he would explain what they were doing, what they had found, and where they were going. I really liked that he was so friendly and approachable while working. He really wants to make sure his customers understand what is going on with their house. My only negative observation was the mess left behind. I had read the reviews, and even talked with him at length about it before they started. I feel they did their best given the terrible outdoor weather, but it still left me a little disappointed. The dust was not the problem for me, I thought they did very good keeping it down. My problem was some messes left around the house. This really isn't a big deal for me and for the most part, I was able to clean them up once I found them, which was weeks later so I didn't feel it necessary to call and tell Gary. Though I am sure if I had, he would have been out ASAP to make it right. Overall, Gary and his crew did a great job. I have no hesitations to recommend them to anyone. Gary will be honest with you and will go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with his work. He will try to accommodate any special requests you have and give you as much information as you would like. I think his company is a special find in today's contractor landscape.

On Thursday afternoon, I went down to the basement and noticed the carpet was wet in the far corner of the room. I did not smell anything, just saw about a 10 foot area of the finished portion of the basement was wet. Of course, I was horrified. I called Gary's company. He came out the next day and was so amazingly helpful, kind and supportive. I had just moved to this home only about 3 months ago from out of state. My husband is currently on the other side of the country and I don't really know anyone here. I was feeling very scared and very alone with a BIG problem. Gary stayed with me throughout the process and REALLY went above and beyond to help me. He showed compassion and concern for my terrible problem. Gary had to cut a hole in the drywall in order to see where the leak was coming from. Well, that's when the fun really started. Turns out the pipe leading out to the septic tank was cracked and there was literally raw sewage running down the wall underneath the pipe and onto the floor. Gary recommended a septic company and even called the owner of the company, Ed Burgis, of King Septic Company for me. So Gary took his own time and made several phone calls for me, because I did not know who to call or where to turn to begin to solve the problem. Gary could see how stressed out I was about this situation and also that I was alone and without a clue as to who to call first. I cannot tell you enough how thankful and appreciative I am of the kindness, professionalism and care that was shown to me throughout the process of trying to resolve this horrible, smelly leak. He recommended and even personally called plumbers, the septic company, and a few other professionals. He gave me wise recommendations that were truly helpful and practical. He was also incredibly honest about the scope of his capabilities. I highly recommend calling him if you have a water leakage problem. Because if Gary cannot fix the problem, at least he will point you immediately in the direction you need to go and exactly what steps you need to take, and most importantly, what other service professionals you need to call next to get your problem solved FAST and correctly. Gary was extremely responsive in all ways starting with the original estimate and in all of his communication throughout the job. His crew worked in challenging circumstances-- extremely cold weather and tight spaces. We couldn't be more pleased with the responsiveness and neatness. We will need to wait until the spring thaw or major rain storm to see if the fix holds, but we have a great deal of confidence based on Gary's careful explanation and guarantee of his work Definitely recommend this company.

Gary came out and gave me an estimate after looking over everything in my basement. He was very professional and explained everything very well. I had another company come out before him and they tried to hard sell and do scare tactics with me. I felt the price he gave me was pretty fair, even though it was very expensive, but it was less than the other company. I also liked the fact that he was actually performing the work and pulling permits. A lot of companies try to do the work without pulling permits. Gary and his crew started on the day he said he would and finished within the time frame he said it would take. He did his best to keep the dust level down in the house by shutting the furnace off while they were jack-hammering and covered everything in the basement with plastic. Even with this, dust still got upstairs and on some stuff in the basement, but it is to be expected! This type of work is very dusty and dirty. He even did a little extra for me by jack-hammering a couple of huge rocks out in front of my house for me that I had no way of getting rid of because they were too big to move without a bobcat or backhoe. Gary and his crew were all wonderful and I highly recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.

Gary did a thorough inspection and spent a great deal of time explaining what he thought the problem was. He told us it's more of a landscape issue causing water run off. The fact that he was honest and didn't want to waste our time and money was refreshing. I would highly recommend this company - they are professional and have integrity.

As you may recall there was a significant amount of snow this winter and the basement stayed dry through the massive spring snow melt. It also stayed dry though the big storms and flooding a few weeks ago so the system seems to be working well. The workman were prompt, polite and cleaned up after themselves each day. My only complaint was the dust in the basement. Based on the work being done I knew there would be dust, but I spoke with Gary explaining that I would much rather rent a pod and move everything out than have to wipe everything down later. I mentioned it multiple times. He assured me that was unnecessary, that everything would be carefully covered. It may have been in the beginning, but as the week progressed the covers got shifted around. In addition, I don't think they put the coverings over the shelving systems, just around them, so the dust got in through the top and filtered down. In the end, everything had to be wiped down just as I feared. In the end of course it's more important that the work was done correctly though and that seems to be fine.

Wrote a thorough report with photos to allow us to back out of a purchase.

IT WENT VERY WELL. IT WAS A TEDIOUS JOB. HIS CREW HAD TO CARRY OUT DIRT AND DEBREE FROM BASEMENT THROUGH SOME OF MY HOUSE AND CARRY IN STUFF TOO. THEY DID PUT DOWN RUNNERS AND WERE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE ANYTHING. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY RAIN IN MY BASEMENT AND WE'VE HAD SOME VERY HEAVY RAINS SINCE IT WAS DONE. TOOK ABOUT A WEEK TO DO. I HAD STRESSED ABOUT WANTING A GOOD CLEAN UP, WHICH HE DID TAKE CARE OF.

The work took 1 week. They showed up when they said they would. Communication was excellent. Gary, the owner of the company was on site working along side his crew every day of the job. All quoted work was completed and then some. Gary added about 10 feet of trench not included in the original scope of work because he felt the system would perform better. They dug under stairs, around corners and behind my boiler. Some other basement waterproofing contractors we spoke with do not pull permits. We are very happy that this job was permitted and the cost of all permits was included in the quote. During our excavation our water main developed a leak. Gary's relationship with the city and with his plumber meant the damage was repaired the same day. Atlantic Coast competes with large sales organizations. I recommend that you consider this honest hardworking company where your job will have the full attention of the owner of the company.

The owner Gary came out and explained the whole process which included pictures in detail how it all worked. Gary was extremely polite and answered all our concerns and questions. He also provided his license, insurance ect for our review. Gary's company did all the work in the time they said they would. They cleaned up and we are very satisfied with the quality of service we received. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. Great Guy! Great Company!

If you know what you need for your project and are looking for someone to simply bid on your job, this is NOT your contractor. If you are comfortable answering an exhaustive number of questions, scheduling a time where ALL homeowners are present during the estimate "presentation", then maybe this contractor will be a good fit for you. Personally, I've done my homework, already discussed my project with several experienced contractors and plumbers, I just needed someone to bid the job to get a competitive price, and this contractor said "no thank you" I don't want your business.

It went very well. They were professional and curtious. Gary explained everything to me that needed to be done and also items along the way as the job was being completed. They do a great job with cement. They cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave a huge mess in my basement. Job was also completed in a timely manner.

Gary and his team did an outstanding job. They arrived each day when they said they would. Gary kept me apprised of exactly what was being done each step of the way. He had given me two different options in his original proposal. One was to waterproof the outside of the house, which would have been more expensive. He recommended the second option which was half the cost, because he said it would "manage" any leakage--no matter the source. They dug a trench just inside the wall leading to the sump pump. They laid a French drain and put up a fiberglass wall to lead the water to the trench. Gary went above and beyond the original scope by exploring how the sump pump was taking water out of the basement. I would definitely use them again.

Gary did an excellent job. First, he made sure that we needed a new pump. Next, he explained the costs and the procedure. Then he quickly installed the pump. He cleaned the area around the pump. He also volunteered to clean my stairs where he though his shoes might have gotten it dirty. I was very impressed with his work, his kindness and his thoughtfulness. He installed the pump 5 days before it was scheduled to be installed because he was concerned because of forecasted rainy days. He also reminded me of the discount that was listed on Angie's list.

We received estimates from several providers for different approaches, and Atlantic Coast's were comparable, but Gary struck us both as very personable and he was able to schedule us in quickly. (In the end we chose the middle-ground approach with a comfortable - for us - price point. The super-duper dig down around the outside, install a drain around the house, etc. wasn't just out of budget range, but seemed like it might be overkill given the size of the offending invisible crack,the small resulting leak, and the HUGE amount of melt we were contending with after our winter of record snowfall. Basically, if water isn't pouring in the walls this winter/spring, we'll take our chances that it's probably not going to do so before the flood comes.) On the day before the scheduled work we received calls on both our phones confirming the appointment, and then received calls the next morning providing an ETA. Gary and Mark hung plastic sheeting around their work area to contain the dust. They worked on breaking up and removing concrete for a small trench below where a small wall crack had previously allowed spring melt into the basement. They placed a liner and large stone gravel into the trench, and installed a panel on the wall to direct water from the crack down under the foundation. The final step was mixing and filling in the remaining space with new concrete. They called us down at each phase of the process to explain what they were doing, and again when they were done to set expectations about time-to-cure and how to approach framing out the wall when we finish out the basement. They cleaned up well and the plastic sheet did keep the dust controlled. They were pleasant to work with, prompt, courteous, and personable. Highly recommend.

He gave me a lot of information over the phone about this product and others on the market with the pros and cons. He arrived at the house and explained the work and gave us an estimate. We decided to have the work done and an appointment was set up. He arrived promptly, did the work in the estimated amount of time and then explained the system. The only part I did not really like was that now if our regular pump fails, we probably would not be able to replace it ourselves, because the two pumps are combined. However, as we get older, we might not be able to do this type of work in the future, anyhow. At least we have the back up pump if ours does fail and we would have some time to deal with getting a new one installed.

Gary arrived on-time and actually a few minutes early. We went through the basement and he pointed out his observations and conclusions as we went through. He was very receptive to the questions I had as well as my agent and father who were there with me. I gained what I was looking for as far as an assessment of the foundation condition and the scope of work that could be needed. In the end I received a quote for some minor repairs but did not feel pressured or given a scenario that if I didn't do those things right away the house would collapse and fall down. I would consider hiring for the jobs listed if we decide to continue with the home purchase.

After moving into a new home and discovering that a faulty waterproofing system was leading to a buildup of mildew, and fungus in our basement, we were referred to Atlantic Coast Waterproofing Company by a family friend. The owner, Gary, came out for the initial onsite consultation, and we were quickly impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of the industry that he brought to the table. After a thorough analysis of the issues and recommended steps, we agreed on a fair price for the extensive work that needed to be done to correct the issue. Gary and his crew quickly got to work on pulling the permits necessary for the work do be done on our behalf and started the job less than a month later. The expected completion time that was quoted was 7-10 business days, and even with uncontrollable surprises and challenges along the way, they were completely wrapped up and finished by the 10th business day. Over the span of just a few days, the team of 3-5 individuals lugged counttless buckets of heavy stone, cement, debris, and gravel up and down the stairs. The amount of heavy duty equipment coming in and out of our basement throughout the two weeks was amazing and the team worked hard to leave our house in a clean, organized, and functional manner when it was all said and done. Since the work was completed, we no longer have to worry about the safety of our family living in a house with mildew in the basement and a faulty waterproofing system. Overall, Atlantic Coast Waterproofing offers a well-managed crew led by a reputable and knowledge owner. They will keep you informed every step of the way before, during, and after the work is complete. I would use the company again in the future and would recommend them to others as well.

They were very professional, but I thought the appraisal for work was a bit high priced considering that we were not positive was the antidote to the problem.
