Description of Work: We are very happy to have found Thomas on Angie's List. He and his coworkers done excellent work for us. We bought our mid-century modern retirement home in March and he has done many projects for us including lining the crawl space with visquine, fixing uneven doors and adding locks, removing some built-ins, and painting. We have a few more projects we hope he can do for us. We know he'll do a great job.

+ 0 moreAs we examined the job in more detail, it was decided that before we could begin tiling the backsplash, we needed to move a 3 gang switch and replace the plugs and switches on the backsplash with an almond color as opposed to the stark white that was in place. Again I turned to Tom Southwell and team to take care of this electrical work. They did an excellent job of handling the electrical work before beginning the tile work on the backsplash. Once the electrical was completed, they began the tile work. During the process they provided suggestions on how to finish the edges, what to do around the windows, etc., things we didn't even think about as homeowners. The tiling was done in a day, they came back and grouted and sealed afterward and it couldn't look any better. My wife and I are thrilled and would look to use Tom Southwell and Wells Thomas on our next home project.
Description of Work: While Tom Southwell and crew were working on re-doing a shower for me at a rental home (See report) we got to talking about the fact that my wife wanted our backsplash tiled in the home we live in. Based on the excellent tile work being done in my master bath at the rental property I asked Tom if he would be interested in bidding on that job. He quickly examined the job and provided an estimate. The estimate was in line with others I had received but based on the work they were doing on my rental property, the decision was easy, Tom Southwell and Wells Thomas, LLC.

Contractor completed work within 24 hours. Fair price. Am not disclosing amount paid as I paid no trip cost (I live within a mile of this contractor). There would be some charge for the trip if it is a substantial distance. Very satisfactory job done. Will definitely call again.

+ 4 moreThey did quite a bit of work. Numerous people had come out to bid different parts of that job like painting, drywall, roofing and so forth. They seemed to be pretty competent at carrying out all aspects of the job. They proved to be very professional and did very good work. They stuck to their schedule and made sure that we were satisfied throughout the job. We had some changes to make and they were very adaptable to those changes. They were not the cheapest, but were still competitively priced. They were very customer focused. My experience with them was great.
Description of Work: I used Wells Thomas for roofing, drywall, chimney tuck pointing, interior painting, and tile installation.

+ 3 moreTom also does commercial work for apartment complexes. He had a professional attitude throughout and genuinely cared about the results. His price was reasonable considering the extent of the work that was needed (for a house that had been abandoned and foreclosed). Now a month later, all the repairs have held up well. I love the perfect results.
Description of Work: Tom Southwell came to my house and gave the best proposal, for drywall and plaster repairs, including a coved ceiling. He also did some other construction and handyman repairs. He creating a new closet in a large bathroom area. Tom hung 3 new ceilings, including 1 that had fallen in a large paneled bedroom, because of water damage. Another covered a damaged ceiling with holes in a 2nd-floor bathroom. He also created a new ceiling in a long 2nd-floor hallway, that covered up an abandoned ceiling fan and large can nister light fixtures, using wall paneling (at my request) that matched older paneling on walls that angled in spots. Tom was able to match and rip molding for all of the edges. Tom also did some color-matched tuck pointing, installed 2 new gutters, with a downspout through a front deck-like entrance, and drilled drainage holes through an outside brick wall. His drywall man, also named Tom, also did prep and final painting for a number of the rooms and hallways.

+ -1 moreTom gave us a fair price for this roof repair, so we agreed to the project. Tom and 2 crew members showed up the day after we agreed on the price and completed the work in about 3 hours. Result: It's beautiful! Since we had the foresight to save 3 bundles of shingles from the original roof job 9 years ago, the patch is completely invisible. You can't tell there was ever a 2 ft. by 6 ft. chimney that went through the roof. Tom and his crew were at all times, professional, punctual, and friendly. They completely cleaned up their mess and hauled away all of the debris. He even had his crew clean out our gutters while they were up there fixing the hole! We have hired Tom to install an 8 ft. door wall on the exterior wall where the chimney was, and will submit a separate report on that project once work is completed. We are very happy with the work so far and recommend Tom's company to anyone needing roof repairs or other carpentry work.
Description of Work: Old 2 ft. by 6 ft. roof chimney penetration at the back of our home was patched with 1x6 planks to match the original roof sheathing and shingled over with shingles we had on hand from the original roof job 9 years ago.

Description of Work: Remove 2nd floor wall AC. Repair siding, close,insulate, primed drywall at resultant hole. Tuckpointed approx 50-75 brick joints. Install roof vent, and ran and connected duct to bathroom vent blower which had no exterior vent. Remove obstructions to 2 roof gable end vents and repaired and painted total of 3 vents. Removed old unused TV ant control wire running from 1st floor to attic on outside of house. Removed old caulking and re-caulked two 2 story chimneys from ground up. Reinstalled missing vinyl siding pieces. Tuck pointed bad joints customer forgot to point out. Took extra precaucions not to damage flowerbed blocking some brick joints.
