Thomas and Keith were very capable an industrious workers. Their work was top quality. They had innovative solutions to tough problems like when a nest of carpenter ants was discovered in the header beam between the windows of our two story great room. The job was completed on time and within budget. We recommend them very highly.

Overall I am very satisfied with the work performed.
Description of Work: Mr Thomas removed some tree branches from across my driveway. He and his assistant came out and removed the branches on the same day that I called. He called before he came as he said he would. They cut up the fallen branches, hauled them away and left the driveway cleaner than when he arrived. I am very satisfied with their work and will recommend them to my friends.

Tom did an exceptional job. He worked very hard, and kept on task until the project was completed. He asked us for our opinions on how we would like thinks to look and function. He made a few suggestions that we appreciated. We were extremely pleased with his work. His quote was little higher than others, but was well worth the difference.
Description of Work: Tom installed an attic pull down ladder. He also had to relocate a light fixture. He had to rework a truss in the attic to make getting into the crawl space easier. He also installed a light in the attic crawl space.

Thomas was prompt in arriveing the same day I caled for an estimate and forwarded a proposal. I called one of his competitors for a second opinion. They didn't show. The original date of service had to be changed because of my schedule and Thomas was understanding and accomodating. On the second agreed upon date he arrived promptly and ready to get the job done. He was knowledgeable, talented, polite and personable and accomplished the job quickly, without any inconveniece to me at any time. I will enlist this comany again . While he was here, he looked at some chimney repair that I need to have done and offered to email a proposal for that. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: While having cable installed in my home, the service representative found an opening to the outdoors from my basement. When one of the tiles from the drop ceiling was moved, it could be noticed. The floor of the bump out window had become full of moisture and pulled away from the structure, leaving a gap that allowed the weather in.

I haven't decided to use Wells Thomas yet, but I have been very impressed with Thomas' responsiveness and professionalism. He took the time to discuss my project in detail, and analyzed photos of the chimney that I sent him. Thomas returned my initial call within 24 hours, and has been very attentive via phone and email in our ongoing discussion about the project.

Everything went very well. The whole expereince was handled in a professional way. Telephone calls were returned in a timely manner. If there was a delay a phone call was made to notify us. The work was great! The closet we had built looks like it was an original part of the room and not an add on. Part of the process required relocating a cable outlet. The new outlet is better than the job done by the original builder. We will have Thomas Wells LLC back when additional work is required.

In hindsight, we should have hired WT from the beginning. At the start, I called and left a message in the middle of the business day. They were back in touch within a few hours, then out to the house a day later to provide a quote on the bathroom work, as well as mudding and painting an adjacent hallway and replacement of a few aging light fixtures in other rooms. The two-man crew arrived at the scheduled date and time and got right to work. They pulled full shifts with a short break midday to take on fuel. They were mindful of their work footprint and left no trace of their activities, except for a really great looking bathroom and hallway. Tom and his colleague are exceptional at their work. I specifically note their honesty and integrity as they clearly under-promised, then over-delivered. The mudding/painting work was a sizable job and the results are first class. As the lights work and Tom is still alive, one can also reasonably conclude they know electrical systems as well. They did not try any of the standard games and shakedowns so common with local contractors. They quoted a very reasonable price for the job at hand and delivered well beyond that which was promised. Other members of my family have inspected their work. Each has asked for their contact information so they might also use their services. BOTTOM LINE: Readers of this review can save themselves significant time and headaches by engaging this company FIRST. If you get their voice mail, leave a message and move on with your day. They will get back to your promptly. There is not much more I can add except to encourage you to pick up the phone and dial their number. - S

gutter repair, handyman service

Tom was great! The greatest complement I can pay to a contractor is that I leave his card on the front of my refrigerator. Tom’s card is placed there as my preferred handyman. My gutter had fallen and was hanging down from the second floor. I felt it was an emergency to get the gutter fixed immediately since I feared further damage would be done if I did not get it fixed pronto. I called Tom after calling about five and quot;Gutter Replacement and Repairand quot; vendors from Angie's List. All of them either did not do the work (Only new installations) or could not come out until next week. One receptionist stated they would call back in the evening (subsequently never called back). I thought I had one of those jobs nobody wanted to work on, especially myself. I envisioned falling off a wobbly ladder from the top of the second floor. I finally changed my search criteria looking for “handyman”, and, as luck would have it, called Tom. Responsiveness: Told him about the problem, and he found the time at the end of the day. He told me he would call me back as soon as he completed his current job. It is great when a contractor takes on the responsibility and doesn’t say call me back latter/tomorrow. Like the best manager I ever had stated to me once “Either you worry about it, or I worry about it, but let us both not worry about it. So let me worry about this one. “ Tom was very responsive. Took care of my problem. Punctual: Called me at the end of his workday, stated he would be there in a half an hour and showed up promptly. Professionalism: Tom did a great job. He not only fixed the gutter, but I asked him to fix my deck. He found the time to repair the deck. Finally while looking at the gutter he spotted a problem with our chimney and pointed it out to me. When he completed the work he showed pictures of the chimney that needed repair which clearly showed work needed to be done. He even got up on the roof and assessed the damage. I asked him to provide me with an estimate which he stated he would do. So Tom not only fit my gutter job into his busy schedule at the end of his workday, but also repaired my deck, and also pointed out additional work that likely needed to be done. Truly professional. Quality: At the end of the job he showed me pictures of the gutter work and what he needed to do. In addition, he explained/showed me the pictures of the work needed to be completed on the chimney. The quality was very good. Price: At the end of the day, I felt like I had accomplished three things in one day (at my age that feels good), and all at an affordable price. Fixed the gutter, repaired my deck, received a needed assessment on repairing my chimney, all under what I considered emergency conditions, and all I had to do was write a check at a very affordable price. (I paid him more than he asked because of his timeliness, professionalism, and quality of work - my way of saying thank you.) It was easy, affordable and worry free – thanks to Tom. I definitely will call him back whenever I have a problem. A great handyman.
Description of Work: My gutter had partially fallen off and was hanging from the roof from the second story of our home and needed to be repaired. Obviously, I could not do the work because I am to old and do not have the equipment nor the knowledge/skill to do the work. In addition, some of the deck boards on our backyard deck had pushed up and needed repair.

The over all experience with Wells Thomas went very well. He returned my call promptly and was able to visit my home the next day to gather information needed for an estimate. Thomas provided an estimate within a day and stated he believed the current drywall was workable and could be saved. (Another company provided an estimate which was much higher. Their estimate and recommendation involved replacing all the drywall, which was something I simply couldnt afford). Thomas explained with their technique the walls would look good and felt I would be happy with them. Thomas wanted to make certain I understood that the walls would not appear and quot;picture perfectand quot; or and quot;brand newand quot;, due to the surface damage the wallpaper had caused. So I took a chance and am very glad I did! Wells Thomas was able to begin working soon, which was great for my time frame. The work was completed promptly and the end results were fantastic! The walls weren't perfect, but I knew they wouldn't be. The walls looked better than I could have hoped for! Initially, we thought the walls would still require a textured paint before being livable. But we were able to do a quick primer-paint and move right in. Thomas was great to work with and I would definitely use Wells Thomas again.

Due to the leaking roof, I was forced to call a repair man. Several people were called and each one recommended tarring the roof and shingles. Mr. Southwell saw that the tin needed to be replaced first and then add the shingles. He saved me a huge problem in the future by not going with the minor repair. During all the rain this season, there has not been a single drop to leak through the repaired roof. I want to wish him and his family a happy holiday season and I hope to continue working with him professionally.

He was a no call, no show. Called him again on Monday noon and he apologized. He said he would call me later in the day when he had his calendar with him. Again, received no call from him. Called him again on Tuesday noon and he came over two hours later. He installed the faucet in 45 minutes without any problems. When I asked him how much it was, he changed the price to $75. This is the second time I used this repairman. The first job was done fairly, however, I would not hire again due to his lack of responsiveness and charging more than the quoted amount on his second job.

When I called to schedule an estimate, Thomas returned my call the same day and was able to come out to assess our problem promptly. He showed up right on time and thoroughly examined the damage. We appreciated the fact that he took the time to determine the underlying cause of the water damage to make sure that we didn't repair the walls only to have the situation repeated. Once he had found the leak, he even opened a small spot in the ceiling to show us exactly where and how the water was entering. This extra effort makes the estimate fee well worth it. He was also very patient as we did the and quot;as long as you're hereand quot; thing to check out various other drywall issues in the house. In each case, he carefully determined the cause of the problem, so we asked him to add those repairs to the bath and living room fixes. Within two days, we had a work proposal by email which detailed the work. His price was very reasonable and we agreed to schedule the work as soon as the plumber was finished. As it turned out, the plumber was delayed in finishing his part but Thomas was patient and flexible, and promised to start as soon as the plumbing was complete. When we were finally ready, Thomas and Jason promptly came and did the work. They were on time, pleasant, effecient and did excellent work. The largest drywall replacement was in the living room ceiling. They did a great job on the drywall and then took care to feather the new paint into the old (which was several years old) for a seamless result. They did an equally good job replacing the drywall and stucco in the basement and repairing the drywall in the bathroom and the bedroom. What we especially appreciated was that Thomas (and Jason too) seemed to keep an eye out for little things that they could do while they were there to improve the house. For example, we had a dangerously loose step in one area which Thomas repaired at no charge--just because it needed to be done. Jason too, repaired some chips in the wall and touched up the paint just to make it look better. This eye for detail was clearly apparent in the quality of all of their work and we greatly appreciated finding men who clearly took pride in doing their job well. I will definately be calling Wells/Thomas for future home improvements and would feel confident recommending them to others.
Description of Work: We had a plumbing leak in an upstairs bathroom that caused damage to the bathroom wall and the living room ceiling below. In addition, there was drywall damage in an upstairs bedroom and in the basement due to breaches in the outdoor siding. Thomas and his crew replaced the drywall in the living room, then repainted the repaired area. They also repaired the damage in the upstairs bedroom and, in the basement, repaired the drywall, replaced the stucco surface and painted the entire ceiling. They also repaired and retouched the paint on several areas where paint had been chipped or otherwised damaged. In addition, Thomas repaired a loose stair step and railing and drywalled the access panel to the plumbing so that there was no longer a large hole in the closet wall. In the main bathroom, they replaced the damaged drywall, removed the ceramic tile where nesccesary to do the job, then re-attached them with matching grout when the repair was finished. He scraped all of the old caulking out from the tub and re-caulked it.

Thomas Southwell was great to work with. I called to set up an appointment for an estimate around noon. He was very accommodating of my schedule and came out about two hours later on the same day I called. I received his bid a couple days later. Thomas and his assistant (also named Tom) came out about a week after I accepted his bid. They worked very well as a team. While Thomas worked outside caulking the roof, Tom repaired and mudded the leaky corner of the great room. Once the initial repairs were taken care of, both men began painting the great room. By the end of the first day, all of the trim had been painted, most of the corners and edges of the room had been painted and the ceiling was painted. Both men worked hard and got a lot done on the first day. All the while, they were very courteous and friendly, giving us updates and making sure we were pleased with the work. The second day, Tom came out and finished mudding and sanding the repaired drywall. He also put a second coat of paint on the ceiling. Later, Thomas showed up and the two of them finished painting the walls. Thomas even went back up on the roof to make sure he did not miss any potential cracks around the chimney. My wife and I are extremely happy with the job that Wells/Thomas LLC did on our great room. Thomas and Tom are two honest, friendly, and hard-working men. We definitely recommend them and would use them again for future jobs.

Mr. Southwell was very easy to work even though I was Working with another company and timing became an issue. He undestood and had no problems with changing the time he could begin his work for me. He was a little pricey but had a 10% discount coupon. And since this would be a one time job it is worth the expense.
Description of Work: Repaired 2 holes on outside of home from animal entry. Was pleased to discover that Mr. Southwell was just as savvy about animal removal as the animal removal company I hired to get rid of the pests. He knew I was most concerned about making the repair animal proof and did not propose just an aesthetic repair from the outside. He worked very well with my schedule in trying to coordinate his repair with eventual OK from the animal removal company, to make sure that no other pests found their way inside before the holes could be repaired.

I really appreciated Thomas making time to fix the closet shelf for me on short notice because we were having guests. He worked on the stairway the same day, but due to my schedule had to rush at the end. He called me the next day and asked to come back to look over the work and make sure it was up to his quality. He decided he needed to do two small steps to complete the job, but one required a filler color he didn't have with him. He sent another person out to do that when he caught me home one day, but the man was not satisfied with the color match. He did not use it but said he would look for something better. The man returned a few days later and finished up the last step. I really appreciated the company's desire to do quality work, despite having to return numerous time. Both jobs were well done.
Description of Work: Thomas had to reattachment a shelfing unit in my closet that had completely fallen down. The second job was my circular staircase, which pulled loose from its foundation all the way up the stairs on one side. He had to reattach it using glue, plus nails.

As we examined the job in more detail, it was decided that before we could begin tiling the backsplash, we needed to move a 3 gang switch and replace the plugs and switches on the backsplash with an almond color as opposed to the stark white that was in place. Again I turned to Tom Southwell and team to take care of this electrical work. They did an excellent job of handling the electrical work before beginning the tile work on the backsplash. Once the electrical was completed, they began the tile work. During the process they provided suggestions on how to finish the edges, what to do around the windows, etc., things we didn't even think about as homeowners. The tiling was done in a day, they came back and grouted and sealed afterward and it couldn't look any better. My wife and I are thrilled and would look to use Tom Southwell and Wells Thomas on our next home project.
Description of Work: While Tom Southwell and crew were working on re-doing a shower for me at a rental home (See report) we got to talking about the fact that my wife wanted our backsplash tiled in the home we live in. Based on the excellent tile work being done in my master bath at the rental property I asked Tom if he would be interested in bidding on that job. He quickly examined the job and provided an estimate. The estimate was in line with others I had received but based on the work they were doing on my rental property, the decision was easy, Tom Southwell and Wells Thomas, LLC.
