They were very responsive, replaced 2 springs for $196 less a Angie's List coupon of $10. Russ did a great job, very professional. After replacing the springs he oiled all of the hinges which was a nice bonus. Would hire Tarnow again without question.

The technician was very knowledgeable and had a lot of experience. The person who took my inquiry had asked the important questions ahead of time so the technician was well prepared. He had two or three options for my situation and he got it right. It saved a lot of time and he knew exactly what to do. I would definitely use them again. I would only trust this company. It's their only business and they've been in that business for a long time.

On September 28, 2015, John removed the 2 garage doors and the middle divider. He braced the garage for the new door and moved the electrical wiring. He also installed lights in the garage. Because the door was not going to be installed until the next day, John installed plywood to protect the garage. He did a great deal of work getting the garage ready for the door. The next day, Carl and Dan installed the garage door. All 3 men did an excellent job. I am so thrilled with the door and the work they did. I would definitely use Tarnow again.

I got estimates in March for replacement doors for my 3-car garage at my home in Plymouth. I found Dave at Tarnow Door to be very professional and helpful in explaining the differences in the different door options. I also visited their showroom to look at painted steel doors in colors that looked like wood but were actually painted steel. I opted for a cream/beige color which was a very close match to the trim paint of my house. The process from estimate, to contract signing, to installation was a smooth one. It took about 45 days or so for the doors to come in but that was by no means an issue. The installers did a nice job dismantling the old doors and removing them. They also did a nice job installing the new doors. The seal around the doors is nice and snug, whereas with my old doors the snow would actually sometimes blow in on windy days. The doors are of high quality, and they are insulated. My garage seemed cooler this summer which was great. All in all, I'm happy with the door quality, the professionalism, and the removal/installation. I'm getting quotes from Tarnow to now replace both garage door openers.

They ran down the list of possible electronic issues and the suggestion they made over the phone worked and they didn't need to come out. It was nice that they didn't need to come out and charge a service fee. They originally installed the garage door.

My garage door wouldn't go up so I called tarnow door. They came out the next day because it was already late that day. He assessed the problem, knew I needed the spring replaced. He had the part right on his truck so he fixed it right then. It took about an hour tops and he was on his way. Fair price, door fixed, I would use again.

We hired Tarnow because the inspector for our new house told us that the garage door needed to be re-installed. They came out and gave us a free quote; given their great reviews, we decided to hire them. Tarnow did an amazing job; they were very professional and talked me through everything they did once it was finished. The garage door was beautifully re-installed (on new brackets) and the motor/keypad works great. The one issue I had is that, approximately a month after the installation, a nut went flying off the door one time and it crashed down. I bolted it back on, but they came back out for free, secured it even tighter, and made sure everything was in working order. It has worked perfectly since then. Tarnow did a fantastic job and a highly recommend them.

Tarnow's prices were competitive, their product quality good, and their installation personnel professional and efficient. I was dissatisfied with two elements of their service. First, when I ordered the front doors, it was not made clear to me all of the decisions that had to be made at the time of the signing the contract. This resulted in a late change after the contract was finalized. A simple checklist of options and then followup by the salesman that all of the options had been clearly decided on would have eliminated any confusion. Second, delivery and installation dates were not specified in the contract or by the salesman. Subsequent inquires did not result in a clear answer. In addition, for a small firm, it was surprising that each employee had a specific job and no one was responsible to the customer for when the order would be completed. This resulted in both the garage and front door taking 2 months each from order to delivery, with no expectation from the outset that it would take that long. More customer focus and the assignment of a project manager to each job would help to solve this problem.
Description of Work: Provided and installed 2 garage doors and 1 set of main entry double doors.

Called Tarnow on a Tuesday following Labor day to see about getting a garage door fixed which inevitably broke over the holiday weekend. Out of the 3 places I called, this was the only company to answer my call - others went to voice mail, I left messages and waited to hear back. The lady I spoke with on the phone was very pleasant and after talking with her determined I needed a new opener (my old door did not have sensor's on the bottom which meant it was at least 10-15 years old as that is how long the Fed. Gov't has required sensors on a garage door). We decided on the more expensive model as it had battery back up for when the power went out. She said the repair man would call me in the morning to let me know a time window that he would be there to fix the door. Next day the repairman called around 8:30 which was great. He said he would be there between 2:30 and 4:30 which he was. Our repairman came to the door and right away he was not very pleasant. He was unhappy that we still had a car in the garage. Asked me to move it and when I replied that it was not running said that the ONLY way he would work on the garage is if I signed something saying he wasn't liable for damage to the car if something were to fall on it. I was fine with signing it, nothing to get cranky over. I asked him if the old door opener was an older model and he said yes it was. When he finished the work he mentioned that the previous door opener did have sensor's on it and that someone had removed them - he knew this as the sensor wires were still within the frame of the actual door (we purchased this home a few years ago and the old opener was installed prior to us moving in). When we asked that if in fact the old opener could have been fixed and the sensor's put back he shrugged, got defensive and said, "that isn't what I was told to do, I was told to put in a new door opener". Despite the repairman's attitude, he did do a good job removing and replacing the door and did not leave any debris behind. The new door works well so far and has a nice warranty on it as well. Just beware, the pleasant person you talk to on your initial call may not carry through to the service person. Also, you may want to not be as detailed in the description of the problem - my repair person did what he was told to do and did not think outside of given instructions. With that being said, I have a few other people who will be calling Tarnow to get their garage doors repaired.

There was no service provided here, but they were very helpful if I wanted to persue getting a new part. Do call them, they will help yo
Description of Work: I had dented the lower panel of my garage door, and inquired about how much to repair just the one panel. Tarnow Doors got right back to me with a fair price, and had the part in stock, and quoted a fast turnaround time. I ended up not using them, because I was able to bend the old door back into place, and it still works OK -- so I didnt' need to get a new panel. I would definitely consider them for future business.

Our garage door stopped working several years ago but we had other, more pressing issues to deal with so we just opened and closed it by hand until we could take the time to get it fixed. We finally got around to fixing it in January of 2013. I did use Angie's list to find Tarnow. Prior to contacting Tarnow I had received phone quotes from 2 other companies, whose names I do not recall, but I ultimately chose to go w/Tarnow's. (Actually, they seemed in a rush, like they had better things to do, and who wants to give their hard-earned money away to people who don't even seem interested in acquiring your business?) I first spoke to Tarnow Doors on 1/9/13 and they were very businesslike, asked me pertinent questions about just what was happening, and what kind and model of door opener I had - the woman on the phone told me where to find that information on the door opener motor and waited patiently for me to go check it out - and so on. She said that earliest they could be there was that Friday (in 2 days) & that they would call us first thing that morning and let us know at that time when they would be coming out. I felt no pressure to use their services and was told that it would be no charge for the estimate. I was expecting the "usual" 4 hour time window that repair people usually give you, so I was VERY pleasantly surprised when Gerald from Tarnow called at 8:30am to tell us that he would be there between 9:30 and 10:30, and that was indeed, when he arrived. He was very friendly, very informative, listened respectfully as we explained what had gone wrong (when and why our door stopped operating in our opinion, and so on). We thought that the door opener motor itself wasn't working but he explained that the motor was fine but that the pulley mechanism, springs etc on the door itself were shot. We live in a condominium that is less than 10 years old and we - and our neighbors - are discovering more and more just how cheaply built these things are. I knew that the doors are made of exTREMEly thin metal when I was taping up notices several summers ago and accidently dented someone's door just by pushing down on the scotch tape!! We could see light leaking through holes in the door, and wind would blow in from gaps along the sides so we decided to replace the door with an insulated door. Gerald gave us an estimate, figuring in a Senior Discount, of $716.00. We agreed and he came back on Monday, 1/14/13 to take down the old door, spring mechanism, and tracks and put up new tracks, spring, and insulated door in color and style that matched our neighbor's doors. (A condo requirement). The final cost was actually $670.28. and everything. Gerald cleaned up, took away the old door and Everyone we dealt with at Tarnow was pleasant, informative, and patient.
Description of Work: They came out and examined our non-functioning garage door. Explained to us that the problem was not the motor like we thought it was, but that the spring was broken and had pulled away from the rest of the mechanism. Because of that the pulley system was not functioning either. Although repairs could have been made using our existing door, it was a very cheap door, was not insulated, was thin, had holes in it and the side seals were non-functioning. So we asked Tarnow to put up a new - insulated - door in addition to putting up a new spring, tracks, and pulley system. Tarnow was able to use our existing motor. Estimate was done on a Friday and the repairs were done that next Monday. Tarnow carted off all of the old junk and cleaned up after they were done. Door has been working beautifully ever since.

From the showroom to the installation, everyone was professional and friendly. The showroom was a little hard to find--I passed it a few times when I was looking for it. The showroom was great--they have a working garage door with an opener inside to show you the difference between the openers (noise level). The salesperson was very helpful and even gave me a manufacturer rebate to use when I came back to order the door. The representative that came out to measure and give me a quote was also very friendly and helpful. He had to test the door for lead, which luckily was negative (if positive it would cost $200 to remove the door because state law requires them to use hazardous material precautions). The test was on-sight and only required him to scratch the paint off and rub a substance on the underlying door and see if it changed to a specific color. The two men who installed the door were on time and got the job done quickly. I was very happy with the job.
Description of Work: Removed our old garage door (size 16'x7') which was one piece. Installed a new door (same size) but also had to remove two cross ties in the ceiling of the garage (extra charge) because the new door required more headroom for the frame. We moved the electrical on one of the cross ties to avoid an additional charge. They installed a new opener and a keypad.
