It went great! He was very prompt, professional and FAST! He acquired top of the line lumber for me, piled all the old lumber neatly, and didn't do anything that didn't need to be done. The deck looks well made. I'd say the only negative part would be I wished he would have sanded the finished deck so it could be stained, but I assume that would have been extra.

I had a lot of confidence in Carl right off the bat. He was personable, gave good suggestions and was clear about what the costs of the project would be. He came in right at his estimate. I am getting an estimate from him for building a deck next spring because I know that the estimate he gives me is one I can budget for. I intend to use his services for a number of projects I want to get done around the house. He responded to my call promptly, kept in touch on days he wasn't able to do the work, let me know how the project was going, step by step, asked questions if he was uncertain about what I wanted done. He showed up when he said he would. It was a kind of disgusting job and I really wanted NO part of it and he just took care of it, which I much appreciated.

Carl came to the house and provided an estimate for the work. We discussed the construction of the shelf/platform and the other simple repairs that we needed. He phoned with an extimate the next day and we scheduled the work. He called the day before to be sure we were going to be home and then showed up on time to do the work. We were pleased and suprised when the final bill was actually less than his estimate. We will definately use him for future projects.

Job was started on time and completed on time. Any concerns that came up during contruction were addressed and resolved to our complete satisfaction. The work was done with attention to detail. Final price was as originally quoted. Deck was inspected by city inpectors and passed inspection first time. Final product was as promised. Carl had a complete understanding of what we wanted and was willing to work with us to our complete satisfaction.

I have a contract with them. He knew what he was doing. They are going to start on the work soon.

Mr. Zatsick was very responsive and provided a comparable quote for the job in a timely manner. We decided to go with another Angieslist contractor after discussing with friends, come to find out they know this other contractor and highly recommend his work. I would contact Mr. Zatsick in the future should we have any other home projects.

I found Carl Zatsick Carpentry on Angie's List at the request of my mother, who needed someone to solve a problem with her deck railing. The deck was installed several years ago by a relative, who did not space the railing posts near enough to each other, and as a result the railing sections began to sag in the middle. Carl personally came out to inspect my mother's deck, and recommended a very simple and quick repair. He was on time for all of his appointments, and scheduling his time was very easy. To solve the problem, he installed support blocks between the long sections of railing, tightened everything up, and painted the new wood pieces. Throughout the process he was courteous, professional, neat, and my Mom is thrilled with the result. We'd easily use his company again. What's most appreciated is that he did not try to "sell up" my mother on new railings or a replacement deck on what amounted to a simple repair... that alone gave me peace of mind.

From the bid (which was considerably lower than other bids) to completion, Carl was punctual, professional and flexible. He did the front porch first and came back a few week later to do the back deck. His work is excellent and I will definitely use him again.

A+---Carl Zatsick was professional and did the work he said he was going to do. He is detail oriented and provided ideas and suggestions to help us create the basement we wanted. Very pleased with his work and found him very easy to work with.

I phoned hiim, left a message, he called back promptly, made an appointment, arrived on time, did a thorought inspection, advised me of what needed to be done and informed me that a lot of the wood I thought was damaged or needed to be replaced was fine. He mailed me an estimate and called a few weeks later to follow up. I have not purchased the unit yet but would use him to perform the services if I do. He was very informative, helpful, friendly and professional. I felt very comfortable that his estimate was true and fair and he was very honest about exactly what was required and didn't try to convince me or sell me on more repairs than were required.

He is very thorough. He has an attention to detail. He has a lot of experience. I would recommend him to anyone who is detailed-oriented. He is honest and has the integrity that this world is lacking. He stands behind his work. He is able to spot and save defects that can be difficult for other contractors to see.

We eventually decided on a different design .

Overall, the job went really well. We had some initial slowness until we resolved some unanticipated minor issues with rebuilding the deck foundation. Once the foundation was in, Carl and crew rocked! and were expeditious in completing the work. Our original fascia boards did not look good and Carl suggested using another manufacturer's material which ended up looking really nice.

Couldn't have possibly asked for a better outcome not only was the work completed AHEAD of schedule and on budget, but Carl kept us informed every step of the way to let us know exactly how the progress was going. Before providing final payment he made sure that we were completely satisfied with the work and stated that he would return at any time if we discovered anything later. The process began with a detailed 1-1 session with Mr. Zatsick in which we fully explained what we hoped to achieve thru this improvement. We itemized each task required and Carl came back with a detailed quote for review. Ultimately, as with the other job we had contracted his company on, Mr. Zatsick's price was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than any of the 3 other quotes we had received. In this case, as with the other job, he proved to us that being the lowest quote doesn't result in shortfalls and shoddy construction. To the contrary, his attention to detail was astounding and there were absolutely no surprises to content with. If all company's worked this way, I don't think our economy would be in the position it's currently in. I simply can't say enough positive things about this job. In the end, I'd be more than happy to discuss my experiences with anyone else considering work with Carl Zatsick.

I find it VERY difficult to find many tradesfolks here in southeast Michigan who REALLY take pride in what they do anymore. Carl Zatsick is indeed a rarity in those terms...this has been the most incredibly positive experience I have had since we purchased this home in 1998. Not only did he do EXACTLY as he said, but I've never seen anyone as focused and on time as Carl. I can't say enough good things about him and would strongly vouch not only for his craftsmanship and quality, but moreover his high moral ethics which are sorely lacking in our society today. He's a hardworking individual who does most of the work himself. As stated above, I was completely blown away by the fact that a project in which I was being quoted anywhere from $17,000-$25,000 he completed for $6400. He doesn't mark up material and only seeks to earn a fair labor charge for his services. Trust me, this is an individual you want to keep in business. He's not pulling up in a brand new $50,000 Cadillac Escalade; instead, he has an older F150 pickup with 130,000 miles on it. I'll personally relate my experiences to any other member who'd like to contact me. Even his business card only has his phone numbers, cell phone and the following credentials (NO Address or emails)...which is why I'll need to get that to properly complete this recommendation.
