21st Century Windows

My experience with this company has been positive from the start. Having determined to replace as many of the old single-pane wooden-framed windows as I thought I could afford I consulted Angie's List for likely contractors. The woman who answered my call was courteous and reassuring. Within a couple of days two associates came to my home to take measurements and show me what products they offered. The price per window was a great deal less than I'd anticipated, so I was able to replace practically all the windows in my house. The waiting period from the time I signed the contract to the date of installation was about seven weeks, a little longer than I'd expected. But I ascribe this my own unfamiliarity with how long it takes to manufacture windows to custom specifications. In the course of the install I made several casual comments regarding temperature problems in this old house. These in turn led to queries regarding venting and insulation. Workers inspected the roof and attic, and I was told that I had no vents in the roof and only seven inches of blown insulation. So I ended up agreeing to install roofing vents and more insulation. The costs seemed so reasonable to me that I figured I might as well replace the old and unsightly aluminum siding, too. At no time during the course of this work did I feel that was I being encouraged to take on unnecessary costly renovations. On the contrary, it was the very reasonableness of the expense which guided me in my decisions to agree to further work which I already knew had to be done, but which I regarded as prohibitively costly. The team from 21st Century Windows was friendly, courteous, and hard-working. They came in and got the job done. No hidden surprises, no panicked revelations. Jobs I'd thought would take a week or more they took care of in a couple of days and a couple of mornings. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience with 21st Century Windows. So much so that I've already agreed to have them handle two other projects around my home.

I did not use this company. I went with Wallside.

Overall we had a good experience. The biggest issue we had with 21st Century Windows was scheduling/time commitments. We had to reschedule more than once for estimates, although we were always called ahead of time and alerted to the changes. It also took a bit to get our installation scheduled, but once they did it, things went really well. We were quite happy with the installation of our windows overall. After the installation, we did notice that there were some areas where the caulking was not clean, and really needed to be redone. We got in touch with Mark and he made sure someone came back out to correct the issues. Our caulking issues were corrected to our satisfaction, and we are extremely happy with our new windows. Mark was great and was always following up with us when needed. He was also very conscious of our budget, and in no way to tried push or up sell in an inappropriate manner. We felt comfortable with Mark right away, and are glad we chose him for the job. The only complaint I have was that things took longer than we'd expected, but we are in no way disappointed with the overall experience, and would choose them again for future work if needed.

It did take awhile to get the initial quote going given the weather delays that was keeping the company backed up, they were ultimately very competitive with some of the larger window companies. Also, as one of the larger half-round windows was fairly new (as opposed to the other windows which were rotting), Mark came up with a good solution to keep the glass. The installers were professional, did a nice job and cleaned up the site after. Would recommend for window replacement work.

Mark and his team did a great job and I would recommend him highly.

I had used 21st Century Window way back in the late 90's for a previous home. I was pleasantly surprised while searching Angie's List for Windows to see 21st Century Windows. I emailed that I was interested in a quote and received a return call the same day. I am very please with the windows. As the windows were recently installed I'll have to wait to see if my utility bills decrease, but I have noticed that the house is much quieter. The installation crew was very professional and clean, explaining what they were doing at each step of the install. I have already talked with Mark about redoing my kitchen, so I would definitely recommend 21st Century Windows.

We were very pleased when we used Mark the first time as part a "big deal." His crew did a great job, and even pointed out some poor workmanship by another contractor that I would have otherwise missed. So when the repaired bow window started to have problems with water seeping in again, I called Mark to have him come out and give us an estimate on a more permanent repair or replacement. Unfortunately, it took several weeks for him to send someone out. We never heard from the company again regarding the approximate cost of the repair.

The only way to describe my impression of this company is "weird". Like a previous writer, I agree that the receptionist was very nice and professional. But she should not have had to repeatedly apologize for the lack of follow-through by the owner, Mark. After 4-5 days of daily calls to try and get in touch with the owner (I really liked the reviews I read by others on Angie's List), I finally did reach him only to have him tell me he was very busy and would call me back. He did not. I called him again and he did come over that evening to get a look at what I wanted done (with no samples, colors, etc. to show me). Once he was here it went from weird to downright bizarre. I can only describe his behavior as manic; nothing malicious but just odd & "off". He repeatedly asked if I had to "run the numbers by someone" (i.e. spouse) despite me telling him the decision was solely up to me. He tried to talk me into just paining my 1977 siding rather than replacing it. He then asked if he could have my old siding and then laughed and said, "Of course I can. I'll use it on another job." What?! He tried to talk me into putting a french door into my 9 yo son's 2nd floor bedroom and build a deck off of it. Pass! The icing on the cake came at 11 pm that night when he texted me saying, "I was going to call you but then I saw what time it was. It's been a long day. Ha ha ha ha." WHAT?! Who does that?! Creepy to say the least. Again, he could do fabulous work & have great prices but the complete lack of professionalism killed any future deal with me. And other than that weird text, he never followed up with me with quotes or samples. (Which is perfectly fine with me at this point!)

I read the reviews and services provided by this company. I called to set up an appointment for an estimate for 3 windows and gutters. The receptionist was courteous and friendly. I was told that I'd receive a call shortly to set up an appointment as they were very busy. After a month with no call back, I called to find out about an appointment. I was connected to the owner, Mark, who informed me my job was too small for them to come to Lake Orion. I was also informed that this company doesn't do gutters. Coincidentally, gutter installation is listed as a service provided by 21st Century Window and Lake Orion is within their service area. I'm very disappointed by the lack of professionalism and courteousness displayed by this company.

They did seem professional. They indicated they only perform this service in the Fall. I did receive a refund for the Big Deal.

I called to get a quote and mark came and gave a good quote only a couple hundred over other quotes i received, but he also was able to offer for that price some extra work on a couple of existing windows to insulate them against winter drafts i was getting through those, as well as to work to caulk a pre-existing window that needed it. We had a couple of hiccups along the way, but mark always made sure that whatever needed correction was corrected. For example a couple small pieces of trim were unfinished so he came over and made it right by painting them to match. Overall the installers did a very professional job, making sure to lay down drop cloths and afterwards i inspected the caulking and the operation of the new windows and they looked perfect. They also do roofing etc. so i plan to have them take care of my completely clogged downspouts next

As an engineer I am going to make this review as objective as I can. Background: Needed to replace 13 Windows and a patio door wall. 3 contractors were requested for a quote. Top three reasons we went with this company instead of the other two competitors that had vetted. 1. Mark's the owner of the company and his team (Valaree and others) were very polite and came across as a very responsible team. 2. Mark also made me aware of discounts that were being offered on Anderson Windows (which is what we went with) at the time of quoting and he passed most of the savings to us. 3. Mark also "threw in" fixing the gutters as they were coming off a bit. Day of the Installation: I was a bit worried when I learned that the contract was subcontracted to a different set of installers. The window installers seem to be in a hurry but appeared to be very competent. I just hope that we do not discover any issues in the winter months. Post Installation: Some typical minor issues after the window installations were promptly fixed by Mark himself and as promised he also fixed the gutters! Conclusion: Mark gave us a good ($) quote, might have been bit higher than others but he did deliver on every item that he had promised in the quote. Their 3 payment approach (1/3 at the time of order, 1/3 at delivery and 1/3 after installation) also gives a sense of security. He and his team is very knowledgeable, hardworking and above all very courteous and responsible. Mark/Valaree/team great work and I hope we can start on the attic project soon! Thank you.

After I had decided not to go with wood windows based on total costs and getting a big box store quote, I had contacted 21st Century based on their reviews. Spoke with Mark and his brother several times on the phone. Mark stopped by and he came across as a very passionate person, Bruce was likable as well. Quote received for 16 windows and siding repairs was less than windows alone at the big box store and I preferred the windows quoted (Sunrise). Installation took a while due to certain circumstances but Mark kept me in the loop. The installation crew that came did a fairly nice job. Aluminum siding repairs were done quite well, there were some areas of window installation that were slightly rushed but overall a good job. Will call 21st Century for future work needed to be performed.

Very professional and work was done very well. My house is 90 years old and built by the original owner. Nothing is easy.

Don't know if it was my age ( 68 ) but every time I called him he had an excuse for not doing the job. As I stated, it took a handy man I hired 1 day to fix the leak. because the leak was not fixed by Mark and his company mold set in the wood. The handy man I hired did the whole job, fixed the leak got rid of the mold and put new dry wall up for $500. I can truthfully say that dealing with Mark and 21st Century Window was the worst experience I have ever had. If you need a gutter torn down and a small tarp put on your roof for only $550 you should call 21st Century Window. I will be making complaints to the insurance company so they can keep an eye on this Company. You have been warned. Please heed my warning.

A couple of years ago I used this company to replace a couple of small windows. I was so thrilled with the quality of the work and attention to detail that I called them back to do the rest of the house. Mark creatively found ways to save me money and I was able to come in under budget. Most companies out there try to sell you more than you need , so I greatly appreciated dealing with someone who was not like that at all. The crew was just great too. They were just a delight to have around the house and made sure that things were tidy after they left each day. This company truly goes well above and beyond what is expected. I will definitely hire them for future remodeling projects

Arrived quickly and promptly, and took down all the measurements, and had all of the sample windows, however I never received the quote or a call back. I didn't call them back because there is enough fish in the sea, and I had three other quotes to consider already.

These guys were great! There were only two installers. So, they took a little longer than some of the in & out companies BUT they really knew what they were doing and corrected some of the issues we had from the original installation from when our home was built. They arrived on time every morning and accommodated my schedule when needed. Although, after getting to know them, I felt comfortable leaving them in my home while I ran errands. Mark, the owner, stopped by regularly to check up on how things were going. Windows is their main business but they said they can do other construction work as well. I am planning on using them again for other home projects - if they can fit us in.

About a year after purchasing a foreclosure I noticed that my door walls and bow window were leaking. After unsuccessfully trying to repair by caulking (the previous owners had actually tried to repair by using duct tape). I kid you not, besides looking hideous it was very unsuccessful in fact not the only duct tape repair I had to change but that is another story. |Being faced with needing some new windows I turned to Angie's list and choose 21st Century Windows based on reviews. They were very professional in replacing two door walls and several windows which had serious leak issues requiring some dry wall and 2 x 4 replacement. It was suggested that I might want to replace the other windows however I was not ready. |The story does not end here. Later it was discovered other windows were leaking and at that time I contacted Mark the owner to have the remainder replaced. I highly recommend this company.

They do excellent work and are very detailed. They addressed any concerns and individual needs. They worked hard, even putting in extra framing and slats to accommodate my window shades. Mark is on the job with the workers, and the guys that work for him are great. They always clean up after themselves. All of the work that they do is very thorough. If we ever need more work done, we will definitely call them in the future.

We contacted 21st Century WIndows and office staff were friendly and helpful. Mark came out promptly and after three visits, worked with us to place Pella order. Within three weeks, our new windows were delivered. They were installed within the next week. Installation crew was very professional, appearance was very good and clean up and debris removal was complete. We are very happy with the work and product provided and will not hesitate to call 21st Century in the future.

Mark came out and gave me a good quote for a good product. He then asked to come out again since he did not have the window sample in his car for us to see. I also wanted to discuss other work I was thinking of having done. Mark made three appointments and canceled all three due to being too busy and us living far away. He then promised to call and a week went by and he didn't. I called and he told me the week was hectic and we talked about him coming out the following week. He promised to call the next day and set it up. That was three weeks ago and I have yet to hear from him. I'm sure 21st Century does great work, all the reviews show that. All the negative reviews refer to his lack of communication which is also the case. I felt like I was going out of my way to accommodate his schedule instead of him going out of his way to sell a large job.

The crew started early with tear off and re-roofed by 5. Distruption to me was minimal. The crew needed little supervision or interface with me... they were professional. I marked responsiveness down to a B only because they had to reschedule the crew by several days because they had not completed another's job with a day. All crews are really busy this time of year trying to get outdoor work donebefore winter arrives. With that said, communications with company management has been excellent.

It went very well. The end product is beautiful and so true to the original look we wanted to preserve. We could tell that Mark really cares about us and all his client. He wanted us to be pleased. Even when Mark dealt with some back ordering with the windows , slowed us down a bit and a mistake that Home Depot made in his order, he went out of his way to call us multiple times to keep us informed. He forwarded a copy of Home Depot's letter apologizing for THEIR mistake. His work crew was personable, thoughtful and were careful putting down tarps and cleaning up after themselves. All the other work that Mark threw in as he noticed the needs have secured our home, bricks and roof a longer life. We're so pleased.

Mark offered the best solution for our situation at a very fair price. Getting the job scheduled was a bit of a challenge as we were scheduled to leave town. Mark worked diligently to meet our schedule. His installation crew, did an excellent job to minimize disruption, and were very careful not to damage any trim or molding so there was no additional painting or repair work that I had to do. This was something that no other installers that I found were able to do.. We were very pleased with the work and intend to contract with Mark again in the future.
