21st Century Windows

Has a serious problem with dealing with women. I rehab houses and called him for an estimate to remove a few walls and remodel the kitchen and bath on one of my projects. He refused to come out and meet with me unless my husband was going to there (who has little to nothing to do with the projects). After arguing with me for a minute about whether or not my husband needed to be there, including the comment "unless he's one of those guys that just let's you make decisions" he eventually said ok, he'd call me the next day to schedule. Not that I would have hired him after that exchange, but he never called me back. He obviously found it too demeaning to work for a woman.

These guys are awesome. We called out three high-ranked windows contractors from Angie's list for estimates and went with 21st Century. The owner was thoughtful, the product is excellent, the installers were great and the price was right. If we would've just went with the first contractor that came out we would have spent $1,500 more for an inferior product! I now have a window guy for life. Highly recommend this company! They also have the friendliest receptionist and are super responsive.

Price was fair - the installers were outstanding - Rick and Bob did a great job - Mark and Valerie were great at communicating through out the process and after - overall good experience

Mark was fantastic. He was great in every way and if we had decided to go the route of replacing vs. repairing then we would have definitely gone with him. We'll call him for future work.

The windows are beautiful! Mark, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. His commitment to customer satisfaction and his level of integrity were major factors in our decision to work with 21st Century Windows. We decided to go with the Sunrise line, and Mark was more than willing to accommodate the request we had for a special order grill pattern. He is very knowledgeable about his field and offered a lot of suggestions that made a big difference in the finished overall look. His installers were also great - they cleaned up every day and made sure that we were happy with the windows.

Mark (as always) was excellent. I have used him for many years doing roofing and insulation so it was a no brainer for me to have him do my windows. I am at the point i don't even have to price shop- having done this for his other projects in the past there was no need- he is competitive but more importantly he does very good work and when you have a problem he responds immediately. For this project I trusted him to be in my clinic over the weekend with out supervision. When I came in on Monday the only thing that I could tell was done was the windows were replaced- no mess, no fuss- no problems

Simply put- you couldn't ask for a better window and contractor.Treated my home and family with the upmost respect.Very fast and efficient in and out within a few hours.Left no mess whatsoever.I have 6 more windows that need to be replaced and without a doubt 21st century windows will be installing them. 21st century is a dying breed of contractors.Never felt pushed they were very patient even after I changed my mind on the style 5 times. He gave me an excellent price. They were fantastic artisans. We had no glitches. They did a superb job. It enhanced my house to all kinds of degrees. I was very happy. They cleaned up after themselves. It was just stupendous.

After reading the glowing reviews, we contacted Mark in March 2014. He promptly came out to our house, looked over the job and recommended Sunrise windows. We finally came to terms and ordered the windows in May. The delivery and installation date was to be mid-July. Our contract included all new trim to be white. The carpentry work was to be done so my existing cellular sides (inside mount) could be reused. Mark also assured us that he or the installers would cover and protect my furniture and they would clean up their mess. The 2 man crew that came out on July 17 were the worst workers I've ever had in my house. They were not carpenters. The trim was not white, the shades did not fit, the furniture was not covered. They did not clean up after themselves. In fact, when I mentioned their palm and fingerprints on the glass, I was told by one of the men, "I don't do windows." They didn't even clean off the Sunrise labels. One window was too small and had to be reordered. They tried to fill holes with large amounts of caulk. What a disaster! I called Mark that afternoon, very upset. The next morning he sent three men to undo and redo the work of the previous men. These men were among the best workers I've ever had in my home. Bob was the carpenter and he did an excellent job filling the holes with WOOD and making sure my shades would now fit. All the trim was painted white by Cliff and Dustin. They were great, too. They cleaned the mess and the windows (make sure your contract includes a clause for window cleaning; I was told many companies DON'T clean the windows). I wish Mark had sent these guys the first day; then this job wouldn't have dragged on. I insisted that ONLY these guys install the last window, which arrived about one month later. That job also went smoothly. I would give these guys all A+s. I think the one comment I would like to stress is that Mark is an honorable man and really wanted to make things right. I believe he was horrified with the job we experienced. Our house is about 1 hour away from his business and I think having people driving so much (west side to east side) made our job even more involved. For that reason, I don't know if I would use Mark for the next window job. If he can guarantee that I would have Bob, Cliff and Dustin again, then MAYBE I would.

Mark is excellent to work with since he is the owner and not a large corporation. He had to workers come to my home to install the windows. They were quick, polite and clean. He came after to inspect the completed job and was cleaning up any debris he saw left around the house. (Snow had finally melted) The kitchen window arrived damaged so he is reordering me a new one and will replace upon arrival. Overall I am very satisfied with Mark and his team. Thank you for all your hard work.

Mark contacted me 3/30/15 to explain the reason for the no-call. After a very pleasant conversation with Mark, I now understand what happened that caused the no call back. Apparently when my number was provided to him initially, there was a transposition of numbers which obviously was the reason for the no call. He has discussed this error with his office staff as part of his process improvement and I was assured that he will continue to monitor the messages that are coming into his business. Our entire discussion was very pleasant and non-confrontational and I did tell him that I would certainly consider him in the future should the need arise. Consequently, I feel that it is important to withdraw the original grading score, and assign a higher rating based on Mark's detailed explanation, process improvement, and sincere apologies. Reached out to the business via the message option in Angie's List on 3/16/15 to inquire if they serviced our area as we were interested in replacing several windows. Additionally, we left a voice message at the business # in case the message option didn't arrive. Received a return message the next day requesting my contact info which i provided. The business also acknowledged the receipt of my voice message. Received yet another message back the same day via Angie's List that Mark would be contacting me in 24-48 hrs. to discuss our project. It's now the 28th of March and I still have not received a phone call. Needless to say, we have now gone with another company for our window replacement project.

He never showed up for the appointment. I had to call him after 15 minutes of waiting. He said he never fixed up the appointment and it was mixed up. He was not sorry for it and blamed me for not having it properly scheduled. I just have to say thank you and no need his service. I did have other people provide the estimate and I decided to go with another contractor who was responseful & punctual.

EXCELLENT WORK AND SERVICE!! As soon as we met Mark, we knew he and his team were best for this huge job! Throughout the process, this expectation was reinforced time and again. We had 28 original windows throughout our 1965 colonial replaced with Andersons and could not be happier. The crew was always on time, super friendly, considerate and ALWAYS cleaned up after themselves, even when they were going to be back the following morning. They always asked if it would be OK to leave scrap/tools in the garage overnight (which of course was fine!) and couldn't have been more professional. The trim work was impeccable with considerable attention to detail. They finished the job quickly and the quality is amazing. Mark was the only contractor that indicated a willingness to try to save our marble sills .... and he did!!! He also was willing to share many tips and recommendations for other areas of the house that we inquired about. We are now enjoying our beautiful new windows during this incredibly cold winter. Mark's pricing was very competitive and quality second to none. We can't say enough good things about Mark and his team and will not use any other contractor as we continue our full house remodel project. We will refer anyone looking for a contractor to 21st Century. Thanks, Mark! :)

I hired this company to do windows for me before and thought that I would give them a try with my interior remodeling. Their cost was well below other estimates but they did not cut corners. The owner, Mark, even went out of his way to get the exact set of doors that I wanted. The sanding and painting was laborious and tedious but the guys never complained once. They cleaned up after themselves each evening, and even cleaned up some of my children's messes. This is truly a company that goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. No detail is too small (and I am very picky). I will be remodeling my entire bathroom soon and will definitely hire these guys for the job.

Soon after we met with Marc Teufel we knew we had the right contractor. As you can see from the list of issues we had for him to address, we needed someone who could think outside the box as well as someone who wasn't going to be overwhelmed by our time constraints. Marc set right to work making a comprehensive list and realistic time schedule completing each task smoothly and skillfully. We would be remiss it we didn't mention our complete trust and respect for 21st Century and it's employees, an overlooked factor when you have workers in and around your home all day. Yes, we intend to call Marc and his crew for future projects.

Mark does really great work and he has a great crew of guys working for him as well. They were in and out in a couple of days and did very clean work. They were as careful as possible removing my old wood windows that were nailed in so as not to disturb my plaster walls. There was some unavoidable damage to the plaster but they patched it up and left it ready for painting. He also installed new window sills/trim and included it in the original price. I'm pretty handy myself but I use Mark for all of my larger home improvement project that I simply don't have the time to do myself. He lives up to my expectations (which are pretty high). I will continue to use him exclusively as long as the quality of his work stays high and the price is reasonable. He's been spot on so far.

He was fantastic! I love my condo! It is absolutly breathtaking. They came when they said they were, were very professional, and were always there if I needed them.

The insulation was done in this busy season in 2 consecutive days with do disruption to our normal daily activity followed by sealing of any small pinholes in our brick walls and caulking of roof intrusions ( air vents/chimney flashings) The insulation was blown-in to a constant height and included baffling of the entire perimeter to provide air transfer and prevent icing on the roof.

This is my third encounter with 21st Century and again Mark and his team went above and beyond. I had water damage in my Family Room, they replaced drywall, insulation, molding and painted. All walls were sprayed to kill mold that had formed behind the walls. I took their advice to add gutters and visqueen on the outside. Mark, Rick and Bob thanks for a job well done.

Contacted provider requesting quote for large picture window replacement on 9/8/14. Was told one window was basically a waste of their time. They wouldn't come out. I then received a VM from them on 9/28/14 saying they were responding to my request for a quote. At a minimum, they are disorganized, at worst, only concerned about the big buck jobs, not obtaining a strong customer base. Very disappointed, not the type of vendor I would have expected to see on Angie's List.

Mark and his team were extremely responsive and friendly. The work they did was top notch and I would definitely use them in the future. They even made sure to get the job done before our child was born! (My wife was 9 months pregnant at the time)

Saw this company on Angie's List, and they seemed to have some happy customers. So, we inquired about a window quote on August 10th. We received an e-mail from Mark (owner) on the same day, with a promise to set up an appointment in the following week. Good first impression. We waited 18 days (August 28th) before a 21st Century representative (Valerie) called us back. We were asked to send window measurements so that they could prepare a quote. We did that on the following morning. No response to that e-mail, and no quote. More time passed, and we received a call from Mark (very polite), who set up an appointment for September 13th @ 10:00 to visit us and prepare a quote. He did not come to our house at the agreed time, or call, or e-mail. It appears that this company is perhaps too busy at the moment. In any event, we moved on to other candidate suppliers.

My house is a split-level ranch style built in 1948. When I took possession of the place in 1986 it was surrounded by mature, tall arborvitae trees and juniper bushes. Over the years the needles and trunks of these trees had clogged and ruined the gutters and downspouts all around the house. They were in such a state of ruin and disrepair that they were virtually irrelevant. Consequently, I asked a handyman I used at the time to simply remove the old guttering and downspouts. After the recent heavy rains I determined that I'd best take matters in hand and find a way to direct the rainwater away from my house's foundation. While putting in new windows and siding 21st Century quoted me an off-the cuff estimate for new gutters. The price was much lower than I'd expected, so I thought 'Why not?' Later Mark came over to the house to do some serious measuring and estimating. At that time he quoted me a price that was about $100 more than the informal estimate, but I still thought, 'Eh, why quibble? Go for it.' In less than a day and a half 21st Century had new gutters and downspouts around my home. The job was quick and clean, and the follow-up was good. A minor area had been left free of guttering due to an issue with devising an innocuous downspout, but that was corrected in short order. The job was completed entirely to my satisfaction. Then came the final reckoning. And this is where my review assumes a rather asymmetric character. I had been sold on the job at a price that seemed to me to be incredibly low. I followed up on the job request even after it had been inflated a bit. But when the time came for me to write out the check the cost turned out to be about seventy-five percent above what I'd originally been told. Yes, I was given good and irrefutable reasons for the discrepancy (though the price of downspouts still seems to me to be far more dear than I'd imagined). Still, it all boils down to the fact that the job was improperly estimated at time of sale. Still, I believe that the final cost was just, and that I probably would not have paid much less anywhere else for the job that was done. The only advice I would have for anyone seeking gutter work from this contractor is to make sure to he specifies at length and in detail the final cost of the job. By the way, 21st Century also did windows, siding, roof vents, and insulation for me and I had no such problem with all these other projects.

Mark is very detailed oriented and good at his job. He is very personable. He steered us in the right direction as to which windows to get based on what we said we wanted to spend, how much maintenance we wanted to do (little) and how the room looked. The job was done in one day and he even helped me do some of the interior decorating work to finish the job.

They were able to do it before the scheduled appointment which was great because it rained a lot the next day.
