Excellent company, very professional. Henry the repairman was very courteous and was able to detect the problem within minutes of arriving and corrected it in less than 30 minutes. Called American Discount heating and cooling after the Memorial Day weekend of 90-95 degrees heat and they were her within 24 hours of making the call. Called several other companies but we're told appointments were 2 weeks out. We will definitely call American Discount Heating and Cooling again.

I have had a great experience with AMERICAN DISCOUNT HEATING AND COOLING!! The install guys where very nice and polite. They also provided shoe covers for their shoes and was very clean. When the job was done one of the installer guys went over everything step by step. Made sure that I understood everything about the system. Now my house is COOL in the Summer and Warm in the winter Thanks again AMERICAN DISCOUNT HEATING AND COOLING!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best guys to have for the job.

IF YOU BOUGHT ANY HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS FROM THIS COMPANY PLEASE READ THIS IN IT'S ENTIRETY. BUYER BEWARE!! In April 2008, I hired American Discount Heating and for the installation of a Unico System, a Small Duct High Velocity Central Air Conditioning System. I paid approximately $9,000.000 for the system installation. During the installation of this Unico System, approximately 6 hoses, that would be used to cool my master bedroom, master bathroom and living room, were run from one side of my attic and over a third floor room in order for the system to be able to cool the aforementioned areas of my home. From the years 2008 thought 2012, I had called the ADHC President Mr. Bruno Podlinsek, at least once a year to inform him that our Unico System was providing SEVERELY insufficient air flow to all areas of our home except to two rooms (which were closest to the air unit). During the hot months of the year, usually July and August, when outside temperatures ranged from 85 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature in my home usually ranged from 10-15 degrees below the outside temperature. For example, if the them temperature outside was 100 degrees, the temperature in my home would be 85-90 degrees. I felt this was absolutely awful, but I am not a heating and cooling expert and I relied on ADHC to provide me with accurate and truthful information regarding my Unico Systems capabilities. Mr. Podlinsek always insisted that the system was working properly and suggested that I pay ADHC a yearly fee to perform yearly maintenance on my Unico System. In December 2012, I had noticed a large amount of paint beginning to chip and peel away from the ceiling of the third floor room of my home. At this time, the air conditioning was not running because it was winter. About July 2013, I water dripping from the ceiling in my third floor room of our home. At this time, I believed that a cooling hose had burst allowing cool air to condense with the warm air in the attic which would have created the water that was dripping from the ceiling. I contacted ADHC to request a service call, because I believe hose had burst. On July 18, 2013, I came home from work and I began to demolish the water affected areas of my ceiling. I have photographs that show the 6 hoses running from one side of the attic to the other. The hoses (WHICH CARRY COLD AIR THROUGH A HOT ATTIC), at the time of the installation in April 2008, were installed WITHOUT insulation. I then called ADHC to inform them of my findings and to cancel the “service” call because I had found the source of the water, which was a result of 5 YEARS of condensation buildup on the uninsulated hoses. I insisted ADHC come out to view this problem because it was clearly evident that the Unico System was installed improperly. I left a message with the Office Manager to have Mr. Podlinsek call me back On July 19, 2013, Mr. Podlinsek, who I feel was greatly agitated at this point, called me back and tried feverishly to explain to me that my ceiling falling apart was completely “normal” because of the hot Michigan weather and he suggested to me that I install an attic fan to combat the warm air in my attic. He basically suggested I cut a hole in my roof. I sent Mr. Podlinsek pictures of the uninsulated hosed for his review. On July 19, 2013, the ADHC Office Manager called me and informed us they would have a technician come my house on Monday, July 22, 2013. After seeing the photos, I think Mr. Podlinsek knew he screwed up. On July 22, 2013, ADHC Technician arrived at my home. The Technician stated that the hoses running through the third floor ceiling were not installed properly and should have been insulated to prevent condensation buildup. The Technician also looked at the rooms that has little to no airflow (mainly the kitchen, dining room, living room, master bedroom, and master bathroom.) The Technician inspected the hosed and found that the hoses running through my walls were also WITHOUT insulation as well and thus, improperly installed. The Technician stated that the hoses, if not insulated properly will ultimately break down, and basically, the air was leaking into my walls and not my rooms. Someone (possibly Mr. Podlinsek) called The Technician on his cellphone and The Technician explained to this person that the entire installation was not done properly and that we indeed had no sufficient airflow. The Technician did install a small amount of insulation to the six hoses in our third floor ceiling on this day. We had no airflow for almost 5 years and after many calls over 5 years to AMDC our concerns went unaddressed until my ceiling finally fell apart in 2013. In July 30, 2013, ADHC sent two technicians to further insulate the 6 hoses and to re-install and re-run all of the hoses to the affected areas of the home that were not receiving proper airflow. The two ADHC techincians were at my home from 0900 to 2000 hours.After all this I finally saw a significant increase of cool air flow to all areas of our home. On August 16, 2013, while on vacation, I telephoned Mr. Podlinsek to inform him that I was happier with the improvements made to our air conditioning on July 30, 2013. Instead of saying to me that he was happy that he had satisfied customers and that he was sorry for the inconvenience, Mr. Podlinsek barked at me saying, “well, I did almost $3,000 worth of work that you didn’t even OFFER to pay for.” Mr. Podlinsek told me that I had no service calls for several years and that I never signed up with ADHC for yearly startup and maintenance. I would have paid ADHC almost $90.00 a year for maintenance to air conditioning system that was not installed properly and not working properly. At this time, I explained to Mr. Podlinsek, that due to the faulty and improper installation of the Unico System, in April 2008, that lead to the repeated yearly buildup of wall damaging condensation it was ultimately the responsible of ADHC to pay for th repair of my third floor ceiling and the repainting of the room. I hired ADHC because they were bonded and insured (for instances like this.) Mr. Podlinsek was not pleased with this and told me that he was not responsible and he insisted that “that’s what home owner’s insurance is for.” Mr. Podlinsek told me that if I wanted to sue him, then I should just go ahead and sue him, and that he would then send me a bill for the repairs done on July 30, 2013. This I took as a threat from Mr. Podlinsek in an even to prevent me from seeking legal action. Mr. Podlinsek, to this day, has refused pay to have the ceiling repaired. Five years of condensation buildup on improperly installed hosed destroyed my ceiling and cost me $1450.00 in out of pocket expenses to repair and repaint my room. The owner, Mr. Podlinsek is rude, rude, rude!!! He constantly yells at me and my wife. His technicians were most helpful which is why I am only giving a D on professionalism. This company screwed up, big time!! Instead of taking the high road, Mr. Podlinsek was rude and combative every step of the way. BUYER BEWARE.

Overall we're very satisfied with the project. What I liked is that when they came to sort of finalize the estimate, the salesperson, the owner of the company and the head technician, all showed up at my house. The technician walked around and talked about what he wanted to do and specifically how he would do it and how they would address the specific challenges that we had with our situation so I thought they really communicated well and they were very, very straightforward about specifically what they were going to do. They were extremely punctual.

I set out on this project by requesting estimates from 6 other providers. Received estimates from four other providers, as well as American Discount Heating and Cooling. American Discount's bid was $1000 lower than the other providers, who ranged from $12500 to $19000. I was a little hesitant about going with the lowest cost bidder, so I did some checking on the equipment they included, and found that they had included a higher capacity air handler than the next lowest bidder. I also discussed this with the owner, and discovered that they had been in the business for quite a long time, and had a large store in Farminton, MI. I was invited to visit the store. I also discovered that American Standard also makes the Trane line of compressors, which are rated quite highly. I also researched the Unico systems on line, so I had a good idea of the prices for the equipment required. Based on these findings, and the lower price, I decided to go with the American Discount bid. We signed the contract on 2/11/2013. They called on February 15, and set up installation for 2/20-22/2013. They showed up promptly on the morning of 2/20/2013, and started work. I am a dedicated DIY type, and therefore had lots of questions during the installation. The installation crew was very personable, and answered all of my questions, and responded positively to my concerns. There was one major installation issue. That was how to get the ductwork from one attic to a second attic (split level house design). They managed to get this issue resolved by going through a closet. This was achieved with minimal tear up, and nicely closed off with a metal box after completion. Minimal closet space was lost. The air handler was checked out, and the system was charged. Since the installation was done in February, they could not run the compressor (too cold). They came back on May 17 to check system pressure and run the compressor. This was done quickly and efficiently, again with explanations of what was being done. On May 19, the outside temperature reached 85 degrees, so we started the system for the first time. It functioned as expected with very good air flow distribution and even temperatures.

I look for honesty and integrity. They had them both!

These guys were great. The entire experience from beginning to end was a pleasure. From the moment I placed the call to set up the appointment, to the follow up calls I received to make sure everything was alright. Everyone was very knowledgeable, pleasant, respectful, and professional. Even though the installation was very involved and took a couple days, the workers showed up on time each day, worked hard the entire day, and cleaned up at the end of the day. John, the salesperson, was excellent. He explained every last detail. I would recommend this company and will use this company in the future for all my needs!!
