I should have looked online before I agreed to the price. After looking online I learned I overpaid by almost $2000. Later the softener leaked salt water all over my furnaces below in the crawl space. Wolverine refused to admit responsibility. I've had to file an insurance claim for thousands of dollars in damages. I would never use them again and would never recommend them to anyone.

"I just wanted to share a story with you regarding an interaction I had today with a realtor from Coldwell Banker and a home inspector from Kingdom Homes Inc. I was with a friend who is buying a new home in Okemos and was there for the inspection. The issue of water came up and I told my story about my experience with you. I told them about how I was quoted “six forty seven” for an iron filter, an RO, and rebuilding my “valve.” I explained how I cancelled the order after realizing “six forty seven” was not $647.00, but rather $6,470.00. I also told them how 15 minutes after you left my home that Ben said my “valve” was disassembled and soaking in muriatic acid so he couldn’t return my equipment. They couldn’t believe that two days later, on Monday, when I got home from work that you had removed my tank (with a life time warranty) and installed a whole newly “refurbished” system that included the tank, the timer system, and the valve for $2,960.00 which was eventually reduced to $2,260. Then my friend’s realtor said that this is the second story he has heard about your sales strategy when you tried to sell an 80+ year old buyer of a home that her softener system was completely defective and needed to be replaced. The sellers heard of your appraisal of her system and informed the buyer that they had your representatives out one year before and completely refurbished their system for $1,800.00+. They apparently confronted you about this and you had to fess up to the scam. Hearing this has made me realize that I am not the only victim of your deceptive sales strategy and makes me even more unhappy about how my 30 year trust in your company was exploited at my expense. I am also upset that my original lifetime warranty on my tank wasn’t honored. "
Description of Work: Received the following flyer: "Wolverine Water will be testing water or impurities in your area for the next few weeks." We had been receiving services from this company for 30 years and was satisfied until this last encounter in 2013. This is the letter I wrote to the company following my horrible experience:

A representative came to our door and misrepresented himself as an official that was conducting water testing of the ground water for contaminates for the area. He asked if either morning or afternoon was good to come by for service personnel to test the water. They had their logo on the side of the car and wore a service jacket with their logo on it with clipboard. Looks can be deceiving so I started asking questions; are you from the state? no was his answer. So your a private firm? yes. Then asked if these service personnel were doing testing in the area why do I need to let you know what time of day is good for me? They come in the house. So I explained since I didn't know him, didn't know his company, and that there are people taking advantage of homeowners that I would do some research before committing to anything. So looking at Angie's List with only 3 reviews of this company which were all bad it's a good thing I did not commit.

I scheduled appt.....rep. was supposed to be there between 9 and 10am. I rec'd a ph. call at 10:30 from their on-call person, said he didn't know he had an appt., didn't go in the office was the reasoning. ??? Red flag already. When he did arrive, he spent 2 hours testing water, looking at my current system, and answering my questions. Told me he was a straight forward person, tells it like it is and I said that's what I preferred...no beating around the bush or sugar-coating. Several times he avoided questions that I asked...just one example.....I asked: How much salt do you think I will use on an average per month? His answer: Well, that all depends, blah blah blah. You would think that someone that has been in the business for many years (I believe he said 18 yrs.) that he would be able to answer this. He knew sq. footage of house, single person, etc. and this should have been a quick, easy answer. He finally answered approx. 30lbs. When I met with 2 other water softner companies, they were able to answer my question immediately, which did match the same answer....30lbs. He also kept saying "you won't like what I'm going to tell you you need and you won't like the price." What a negative thing to continue to say. Just tell me what you think I need and quote me a price. So, was not impressed with the overall experience and not getting straight answers. I also asked for references....wanted 1) someone that had just purchased from them approx. 1 year ago and 2) someone that had been with them for 10+ years. I never received any references from him nor did I receive a follow-up phone call to see if I had any other questions. This was the deal-breaker, actually. All in all, I rate them poor.
Description of Work: Called Wolverine for someone to come out and look at my water system, test my water, and tell me what my options would be, along with price quotes.

We were under the impression it was going to be $500, and they charge $5800. Gross over charge, no break down on the bill, I could have done it my self for way less.
