I cannot say enough good things about Steve and Hilary of Superior Construction. Our primary en-suite bathroom was built in 2002 when our home was constructed and it was big and spacious, but I had so many complaints. The biggest were that I was always cold in the tiny shower because it opened up into a cathedral ceiling and the hot escapes away. It was also carpeted and just…ick. The vanity was a waste of space the way it was designed, and yet the linen closet was huge. So I was referred to Superior Construction and I pretty much said “I don’t want to be cold, I don’t like the wasted space, and I don’t like the carpet. But other than that I have no idea what I want it to look like. Help!” Steve is incredibly knowledgeable and worked with me on the proper functions of what I needed and how to best make it work, and Hilary came in and helped design it to my taste and I got function and beauty. My bathroom is now my oasis…my happy place. I have an AMAZING large shower with a rainwater shower head and dimmable lights, tall glass and built down ceiling. I’m never cold and it’s perfect relaxation, especially when I have migraines. My soaking tub is huge and exactly what I needed. I have gorgeous tile work on the floor and walls. Steve did a fantastic job with the herringbone pattern tiles (but I’m sorry I picked it because dang that was a lot of work for him! Not sorry for how awesome it looks!) and everything is so clean and neat and aligned. And then there’s my vanity. He custom built a 116 inch wood vanity with the cabinet doors being from the whole piece of wood so the grain flows throughout—I didn’t want any grooves or pattern and I wanted the thinnest handles so no distractions from the the wood and it looks like a showpiece. My husband’s favorite parts are the little finishing touches like the magnetic door stopper and the cool air vent…simple things that Steve found that just really add to finishing of the bathroom. I also have radiant floor heating now, throughout the bathroom floor and shower and it was really cool to see that put in. Steve never skipped a step from leveling the floor first to the wire path to…well everything. It’s fantastic and sleek and sharp. At the last minute, my shelf from Etsy fell through and Hilary was ON IT! She found a perfect alternative and even painted it herself. Side note from the work, Steve spent a lot of time at our house working on the bathroom and my kids just adored him and thought the boxes from the all big things were presents for them. Kids always know who the good people are and they could tell that Steve and Hilary were good people. I love my bathroom and I love the work they did and I will continue to recommend Superior Construction whenever I can!

Our bathroom was a source of embarrassment- holes in the drywall, missing tile, you name it. I was skeptical it would ever look good, but Steve made it look like it belongs in a magazine. He worked through supple chain delays, an indecisive homeowner (me!), and some unexpected plumbing issues to make our bathroom a room I’m excited to show off. I will definitely be rehiring Superior Construction for the rest of my remodeling needs!
Great attention to detail. Full bathroom remodel including electrical, move plumbing lines, ceramic tile... Turned out beautifully. Also did a complete kitchen remodel - cabinets, plumbing, drywall, etc. Terrific outcome. Custom mudroom/closet. Built cabinets, bench and shelves to fit our space. Steve it's able to provide great ideas while planning the projects. Easy to work with. Trustworthy, professional, superb work. After completing our first project, we've hired him for three additional and referred our friends to him. Fair prices, great work.

When looking to hire a contractor for our kitchen remodel, we read the reviews for Superior Construction and knew we needed to meet Steve. Our 1978 kitchen required soffit removal, electrical work, the addition of a water line to the refrigerator, the installation of recessed lighting, tile flooring, an under mount sink, cabinets, and granite countertops. Steve had the knowledge, expertise, and professionalism to help us make all of the necessary decisions. We were so pleased with the work that he did on our kitchen that a few years later we hired him to remodel our three bathrooms. The bathrooms involved removing a wall, moving a doorway, adding a pocket door, and the installation of recessed lighting, tile flooring, toilets, exhaust fans, a fully tiled steam shower and a soaker tub with air jets. Last year Steve installed luxury vinyl plank flooring in our living and dining rooms and added woodwork to the walls of the dining room. We highly recommend hiring Superior Construction for your next home project.
AMAZING!!! Steve built us a Top Notch, 5 star, classy basement with custom TV/fireplace, built ins, a murphy bed, full bathroom, gym, and custom bar. We have used Superior Construction for 5 jobs now. Will only use him

Steve did a very professional Job and finished quicker than expected. He was very professional and did an amazing job. He and his designer were very helpful with recommendations. I was only expecting to do the kitchen, but then ended up doing the small 1/2 bath as well. I couldn't be happier. I love my new space.

Steve Pitts, was the Pitts please do not hire this guy. For starters he ordered the wrong cabinets for my mud room. Which was a 5,000 dollar hit. His painting and finishing work was absolutely terrible. One side of a bathroom door was completely missed with paint. Upper kitchen cabinets were installed uneven. Gas line to stove was improperly installed. Crown molding was poorly measured and installed with more nail holes than I can count. My Laminate floor was installed poorly. Steve answer to everything thing is more glue. Everything Steve sub contracted out turned out fine. Anything Steve himself touched was terrible. Spent 7 months in my home. Missed managed money, took another job and left my home incomplete. But, I was happy to see him go. Very nice guy in the beginning But became hard to deal with and rude at the end. Also stole my dishwasher but returned it after I threaten him with legal action. I also have pictures to prove all of the above. Please stay away from this guy.

Response from SUPERIOR CONSTRUCTION AND HOME IMPROVEMENTS INC
I started around September and this was a large job. The cabinet supplier did order the wrong cabinets. I fought with them quite extensively over this. They did not charge him for some of the larger pantry-sized cabinets. He had a choice to accept them as they were, he was making out not being charged for the higher priced ones, or get the correct ones but when they re-did the order those missing in the first bill would be added in costing him more. He chose to keep the ones they sent but wanted different doors. I paid for those doors out of my pocket. The cabinet layout was drawn on the walls so the homeowners could see exactly where they would go into the room and what the layout would look like. It took roughly 6 weeks for the custom cabinets to arrive and while they were being installed they asked if they could add more cabinets. I told them they could but it would take an additional 8 weeks. We waited and they were not in a hurry since they were not living in the house. In October I repeatedly asked for a backsplash tile selection. By February I was still asking for their choice. In March when there was no hope for choices being made I made the decision to leave the job. The only work not completed was the tile for the backsplash. His other claims are completely fraudulent as well. I only ever do one job at a time and nothing was glued on the job. The only appliances to be saved would be the stove and refrigerator. The dishwasher I donated to someone in need as it was not on the list to be saved. Therefore it wasn’t stolen. When he claimed he wanted it I asked the people who it was donated to to give it back and they did. As for money, no extra payments were requested. None of these complaints were made while I was there about paint or nail holes nor the floor. This job was also done two years ago and now he’s decided to write a review. He found me on Angieslist so if he was so “upset” why didn’t he write a review until two years later?

We interviewed four "A" level contractors from Angies List. Steven Pitts impressed us from the get go. He responded quickly to all our calls and texts and answered questions we had. He had great suggestions and had several referrals for cabinetry, flooring, appliances, and tile companies. He was open to work with our time schedule, and our ideas, step by step. Steve installed drywall ceilings, walls, closed off a doorway into another room, removed archway to enlarge the entry into the kitchen. Installed recessed lights in and under cabinets as well as ceiling lights. Ran new power lines where needed and installed new service panel to meet code. Moved gas line and heat duct. Installed all cabinets, molding, subway tile backsplash, floor tiles and plumbing. Also installed the appliances.Granite counters were beautifully installed by his partner. He cleaned up each day. Work job was completed within our expectations. We came up with a lot of ideas as the project was progressing and the result is a beautiful and more efficient kitchen and dining area! We're extremely happy that we chose him to do our job and highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Complete remodeling of kitchen and dining rooms.
It went well! It is all very beautiful. We had a tight deadline. The crew worked well together to complete the work. Sub contractors were very good and quality of work was excellent. They tolerated my constant input!
Description of Work: Full Kitchen renovation. Also some work in the living room and den area. Fireplace surround, opening entryway, creating large arched entrance with pillars, moving outlets and switches as well as other electrical work.

Not satisfied with craftsmanship. Cabinet and counter top cutouts were not properly aligned for supply and discharge lines. Wall tile was installed unevenly and gaps were filled wth extra caulk. Electrical wall outlet for jetted tub was not properly secured or protected causing breaker to trip frequently. Tub faucet handle requires extreme effort to turn on and off.

Didn't provide me a detail receipt of the materials or labor charges. Was charged $1000 to complete the work and was told the shower pan was $500, but my son says they sell them for around $100-$125. My son had to make some adjustments to the bench that was installed in the bathroom, there wasn't the proper slant to drain the water off.

I'm a little late with this review, but better late than never. Steve is a great guy. He did the entire job himself which was about 250-300 sq ft. He finished the job in less than a week. Steve, the owner, dealt directly with us from beginning till the end. He did most of the work and oversaw the rest. He made certain everything was as we requested. Having dealt with contractors in the past, I was surprised and extremely pleased that this was one who did what he promised, when he said he would do it and for the price he quoted. The complete demolition of an old bathroom with two layers of ceramic tile was backbreaking work, but it was done thoroughly and professionally. When it came to selecting new tile and granite, Steve was very helpful in suggesting where we could find exactly what we were looking for. We ended up doing floor to ceiling in porcelain tile with granite counter tops and it looks sensational. Steve worked tirelessly to see that all the components were installed properly and functioning as expected. He promised the job would be done in three weeks from our starting date and he actually beat that by a couple of days. In an era when most contractors drag jobs on for months, the promptness of Superior Construction was refreshing and much appreciated. We are thrilled with our new bathroom and are pleased that we chose Superior Construction to do the job.

Steve was Amazing. One project turned into many.... He definitely knows what he's doing in all aspects of home remodeling and construction. He was very personable and timely in responding to your phone calls, text messages, and emails. If you have an idea, and he provides you with his - go with his - He knows what he's doing! His quality of work is incredible. He picked materials and completed the work as if he was doing it in his own home. He's definitely on the back burner for future projects or repairs and we've definitely gained a friend. We contacted him to install a tile backsplash in the kitchen. He gave us an estimate (way more reasonable that the other three we sought out). He also provided us with different material ideas - in which we accepted and fell in love with. We took back the tile we bought at Home Depot and purchased stone (a little more expensive) but definitely worth it, from the Tile Shop. Because we were so impressed with his work, we asked him to quote us on a bonus room project. He measured the space and I gave him my input on what I wanted - A built in bed frame with shelving or storage on the sides because the space was very tight. He designed something with doors and huge storage cubby underneath, and shelves in the slants of the ceiling (see the picture). Its perfect for that space above the garage and it serves as our guest room/game room. He has the top of the line tools which makes his life easier, but also mine because I know he cares about his work. I've never met Steve before until Angies List.... I am really glad that I came across his listing!

. A year and a half later so much is going wrong it's pathetic. The hood for the range has fallen. Thank goodness my husband was standing there when it started to fall, he was able to stop it from falling and reattached the hood. We have since found out that it is not attached to the studs and needs longer screws and nuts. Everything needs to be remeasured and re-drilled. The back splash that Steve said he sealed was never sealed, now it has to be cleaned and sealed. The grout between the back splash and the counter tops has disintegrated. It needs to be replaced with a the proper grout, we have asked several contractors and now know what type of grout to use to replace the grout. Some of the floor tiles make popping sounds when you walk on them. After inquiring about this problem, many floor installers and sellers have told us that we should expect them to crack sooner than later. I would not recommend Steve to my worst enemy. I did have my friend use him and he did an awful job in her kitchen. She hired someone else to fix his work. STAY AWAY FROM STEVE AND HIS COMPANY!!! All you are doing is paying for trouble in the long run.
Description of Work: Remodeled our kitchen and while he did have a good idea for making the bottom cabinets higher he was not a great contractor. ,

I have never received a call from you about any issues whatsoever and would have been very happy to come and correct any issue that may have occurred had you caled me. Instead you write this diatribe out of nowhere. Your backsplash was sealed and the seal does not last forever as it does not for granite and that needs to periodically be done again. Grout is a cement based product and will over time crack and shrink just like a driveway or anything else made of cement. If you would have opted for a non cement based grout that's more money then that usually does not happen. Had you called me I would have been happy to fix anything even a year and a half later. Your floor tiles were attached to cement board which is a proper method of installing the tiles. When kitchens are remodeled they are done specifically for each kitchen. Your friend had recycled your old cabinets trying to fit them into her kitchen and were not meant for that space not were they new. The cabinets were in torn condition and did not fit for her space and were in torn condition. However she was quite happy with the job as you were as well even though you said she complained about everything. Again I'm sorry this happens a year and half later but had you called me I would have gladly helped you out.

Steve and his guys did an outstanding job. Our home is 90 years old and required a full gut of the master bathroom and new plumbing/electrical ran to the second floor master bath. Steve worked with us along the way and gave good suggestions. He increased the size of the shower and built a walk in closet. All the work (gut, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, tile work, drywall, door install, painting and finish work) was done very well at a very reasonable price. Steve works a little different than other companies in that we never got an official quote. It was more of a working document and email exchanges based on numerous changes (based on my preferences) as we went along. I found Steve to be a very trustworthy and ethical professional. My kids even enjoyed having him around the house due to his friendliness. We are having Steve do another full bathroom remodel starting in he next few weeks. I would expect the same satisfied result.

He passed me off to a subcontractor, and the subcontractor never showed up. I gave him a second chance, and he didn't show up again. When he suggested a third date and I said forget it, he made a rude comment to me about how I would not find anyone else as cheap. If this is the type of people this company sends to a customer, it says a lot about them. When I looked them up again to write this review, I saw a warning from Angie's List that they had failed a license audit. That is not surprising at all. Update based on response: The job was an electrical job in Brownstown. So there were a couple incorrect details in the review, but this is definitely the right company and the key facts of the review are accurate. I was passed off to someone else, and that person was unprofessional, unreliable, and rude.

You have the wrong compny for a couple of reasons. One I do not sub contract kitchens to other people. Two I DO NOT work in Milan or near there since it's so far from me. Three I would never make a comment about the cost of the work being cheaper than anyone else. So it would be kindly appreciated if when you wrote a review it was about the right company.

We had a flood in our basement which resulted in carpet removal, a drywall flood cut and water remediation. We contacted Superior Construction to get a quote on laying some tile and fixing the walls. They were very responsive, professional, and I thought the price was very reasonable for the amount of work that needed to get done. In the end, we decided to move, so we decided not to put a lot of money into repairing the basement, and didn't end up using the company. But we will keep them in mind when we next need work done.

From the quote to the finish, everything was handled promptly. The drywall that he put up for the header over the beam, and to repair the wall where it he wall came down, looks great. He even repaired some damaged wall elsewhere in the house and ran an extra outlet for us. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to call him back for other renovations, or recommend him to a friend.
Description of Work: We used Superior construction to remove a load bearing wall and install a 20 ft beam, giving us a 25x20 great room.
