The appointment was scheduled for the next day, which is rather quick for many service companies I am dealing with lately. The technician was on time and fixed the problem, made recommendations for future utilization and maintenance. I used Edwards for many problems around the house and will use again!!!

Services were not performed
Description of Work: The technician, I can not recall his name, was very punctual and seemed very knowledgeable about the service that i was interested in having performed. He gave me great suggestions in regards to what needed to be done and the approx amount of time that would be required. He told me that, someone from the office would contact me later that day, or the following day. But, i never heard anything back from the company. I would have loved to utilize their services, but ended up going with a company after no response.

UPDATE: Spoke with Scott in management this morning (Monday). He was very apologetic, told me how they were working to make sure these problems never happened again and offered me a refund. I am glad to see that Edwards stands behind their work. Updated rating from F to C. On a Friday, I had loud "water hammering" when I turned on the cold tap for the tub. Vibrations were so strong, I was worried about pipe damage. I called my regular plumber (who is great), but he was booked until Monday. I found Edwards in the Yellow Pages after trying a number of plumbers. I asked if they could come out fix it *today*. They said yes, they could come out today. I was given an appointment slot of 3-6 pm. After canceling all my appointments for the day, the plumber finally showed up around 7 pm. He looks at the problems and informs me that I either need parts replaced in the faucet or a whole new faucet. I chose to replace the parts because it was less expensive. The estimate was about $325. I had been told when I called that they stick to their estimates. He then tells me that he will have to get parts and can not fix it until next week. I was told I would get a call as soon as the parts came in. I got a call and the plumber came over the following week. After working on the first faucet, he informs me that both faucets are bad and he must fix the other faucet too...adding $150 in "parts" to the original estimate. I have renters in my house so I had to get it done, so I agreed. After turning off the water to the house, he gets up and says "I'll be right back". Over an hour later I call dispatch to see when he will be coming back. After dispatch calls him, he calls me saying he has had difficulty finding parts. He finally comes back and finishes the job. I hear him turn on the water in the tub. Water hammering starts again. I hear him swear. Then I hear the water flowing with no hammering. I come in to look (noticing that he has left one of our loofa scrub pads in the tub in the dirt and debris). Water seems to be working fine..I assume he has it fixed. Glad to be done with it I pay my bill which is now close to $500. Next day, I turn on the tub faucet. You guess it...the same water hammering. I call Edwards back and tell them the problem. I get a call back from the receptionist telling me that she has talked to the plumber and he says we need to replace the entire faucet with a new one. I decide to call my regular plumber...whom I regret not just waiting a few days for to begin with. After $80 and a couple washers, my plumber takes care of the problems...making me wonder if the $500 I spent on the original job was unnecessary. I also looked up the parts and realized that Edwards must be adding a 300% mark up on them. I called Edwards back and they apologized, offering me 10% off a future job. You got to be kidding me! Never again.

I did use Edwards and they were actually fantastic. I think I used them it was towards the end of last year. I want to say it was probably like October or early November. I think it was somewhere around $100 to $150 box. They ended up clearing one of my sewer lines. I thought they were fantastic. They got out there and do their stuff. They are professional. They called because I’m an out of state owner so they were more than happy to call me and go over what was going on at the property. I believe he actually even shot me a picture to my cellphone so they are very responsive and they are great. They even said yeah I think there is a coupon on Angie’s List that we use for you so they were great. They were fantastic. Actually I will only use them now because there is another vendor that I got on Angie's List and they actually have fallen from grace so I would definitely use these guys now.

According to City of Detroit Water Inspector, Detroit Water Board techs, and Michigan Consolidated Gas techs Edwards Plumbing and Heating did not satisfactorily complete the job. Detroit Water Inspector on Thursday, May 8, 2013 cited 1)slope of water heater tubing is incorrect 2)4" liner was needed 3) another permit must be pulled by Edwards because water heater was not cited as an item of inspection. Detroit Water Board made two trips: On Tuesday, May 7, 2013 water meter installation could not be completed because plastic tubing had been installed from ceiling to floor. On Thursday, May 9, 2013 water meter installation was completed, however, I was cited by Detroit Water Board tech for hazardous installation of an outdoor water faucet. I explained to the Detroit Water Board tech that the plumber could not trace the old water faucet. The DWB tech traced the old water faucet in 30 seconds! The tech marked where the outside faucet should be installed with a pencil. On Friday, May 17, 2013 Michigan Consolidated Gas could not install gas meter because I had no working appliance due to water leaking vigorously from water lines which were installed by Edwards Plumbing. Witnesses were present to see water spewing vigorously from water lines, verified documentation. As of July 16, 2013, I am in the process of finding another plumbing company which will make sure there are no leaks in the plumbing lines, reset the water heating tubing, Install a 4" liner (which the plumber from Edward's heating never said anything about), install the necessary and proper shut off valves (the plumber installed NO shut off valves to bathtub), moving outdoor water faucet number 1 to it's proper and original place, cementing and sealing hole that was drilled when plumber couldn't trace original faucet number 1, installing a second outdoor water faucet for remaining outdoor faucet number 2 which plumber did not attempt to correct, and to make necessary indentations in wooden beams which will facilitate installation of a new basement ceiling. I mailed a certified letter to the owner of Edwards Plumbing and Heating on July 3, 2013, informing him of the unsatisfactory service I received. I am requesting a letter from Edwards explicitly stating that all financial obligations have been satisfied, and no financial encumbrances/liens shall now or in the distant future be levied against the property. The law firm I am working with is requesting this letter within 10 business days of Tuesday, July 10, 2013. This experience with Edwards Plumbing has made me very afraid. Never have I experienced this depth of contempt. It became quite obvious that this young man was not qualified to handle the job, but was only interested in how much money he could make. Simple requests such as, "Would you please caulk around the holes you have made in the wall," fell on deaf ears. When I wanted to await the inspectors final approval for final payment, the plumber blurted out, "I knew I shouldn't have taken this job!" I have paid $1,000 of an $1,800 bill, I believe this is more than fair. I certainly hope that no one else has to be taken advantage of because they are trusting contractors to be fair. I don't know what to do.....I AM JUST SO BURNED!!!
Description of Work: Edwards Plumbing was contracted to restore water lines with shut off valves to kitchen sink, bathroom facilities, laundry facility. Outdoor faucets. Water heater properly installed.

(Member Name Removed) is trying to break a contract because she either doesn’t have the money to pay or is simply trying to cheat Edwards Plumbing & Heating. We will be pursuing legal action against her and due to the terms of our agreement she will pay attorney fees in the event that she loses the court case in which I and my attorneys believe she will. We are an honest company that goes above and beyond to make sure every customer is satisfied. Please see the timeline below so that you can understand how (Member Name Removed) has tried to manipulate the circumstances to get out of paying for the services that she owes. Also several dates and times that (Member Name Removed) had tried to use in her own timeline to discredit our company are not only false, but we also have the GPS reports from Williams GPS unit so that we can use to track his every move. Reports are attached. 4-16-13 William gave estimates of $1,800.00 for a repipe and water heater on a home that (Member Name Removed) claimed was for the purpose of a school for underprivileged children. This was more than likely a manipulative story to talk Will into giving a good deal, which he did. A water heater alone would be at least $750.00 and repipes are usually over $2,000.00 William was giving (Member Name Removed) a price that was way low and not profitable for her supposed good cause. 2-25-13 (Member Name Removed) asked William to start work on 4-26-2013. Picked up parts that day. 4-26-2013 Arrived at 9:23 am but could not start work because (Member Name Removed) was having second thoughts about getting work done, wasting William’s time until 10:15 when she finally agreed to go forward. Some of the parts that the supply house gave William were wrong and he had to go back to get more. He left the job site at 12:16 and arrived at the supplier in Harper Woods at 12:26. It took the supplier 24 minutes and 28 seconds to furnish needed parts (GPS reports). William then left the parts and drove to “Detroit’s Best Soul Food” on Kelly Road in Detroit to pick up lunch. It took them 25 minutes and 3 seconds to prepare the food as it was lunch time in a busy city (see GPS report that clearly states how long William was stopped at Kelley Street). He wanted to get back to the job site so he brought his lunch back to the jobsite. He ate lunch at the jobsite. Mrs. Taylor’s attempt to discredit William by saying he took a long break is completely unfounded. Customer asked at least every 30 minutes if Will could do extra work not included in the original price then asked him to do it on the “side” for cheaper prices. When Will refused to cheat the company he works for by offering to do work off the books our dishonest (Member Name Removed) became angry. 4-27-13 William arrived at the job site at 10:22. Arriving at 10:22 is not unreasonable and if we did not have an estimate for him to do at 9:30 in Westland, he would have been there earlier. Because of the awesome customer service we provide as anyone can see with the countless positive reviews we have everywhere online we are servicing 40 to 50 customers a day in 5 counties. It is not uncommon for us to send someone to do a quick estimate on the way to jobsite. At 12:23 William went to lunch at the same eatery mentioned earlier which only took 19 minutes and 49 seconds this time. He then went to pick up some more parts at the supplier in Harper Woods which took them 27 minutes and 7 seconds to furnish needed parts. He returned at 2:05 (please note that our stop times listed are actual stop times and did not include drive times. Please see report for drive times to show accuracy). At 5:02 they cleaned up and left the jobsite. 5-8-13 The issues stated about the water heater was because customer was planning to get a new furnace, which would require the new liner as it would be a 95% efficient and the chimney would need the liner to sustain both appliances. Thus was brought up after the fact while inspector was inspecting home. This is the reason the liner was not originally included and needed to be added to pass inspection. Because we did not know of the new 95% furnace that would require it. This is also why we would need to charge extra. Normal price is $600 to $800 we were going to do it for $300 simply to appease customer after seeing an unfortunate circumstance and so being the honest and reasonable company we are we wanted to make it easier on this unreasonable customer. We also offered to pressure test lines with inspector who told us he wanted it water tested instead before passing. That is unusual but the inspector is the inspector. (Member Name Removed) had a repipe on an abandoned home that had been abandoned for numerous years. It was full of trash to the point we did not need ladders to work on piped in ceiling. We had the trash to use as step ladder. Home was in horrible condition. Certainly not a place for underprivileged children to attend school without much more work. It is not uncommon for there to be a possible leak after a repipe is finished. It is not normal and not normal for our company. However, it is not impossible. That is why (Member Name Removed) has a warranty on all work completed and we back up everything we do. That is why we don’t have negative reviews because we go above and beyond to take care of our customers. (Member Name Removed) is a manipulative crook and extremely dishonesty. I called her numerous times myself (I am the owner of this business). I paid for the gas and sent my guys to the home numerous times to install the liner while the customer ignored the knocks on the home while she was obviously there. We will not be giving her anything in writing that will settle for $1,000. We paid for all the supplies and labor which we “broke even on” for her supposed good cause that we are seriously starting to question after her blunt dishonesty. We will be putting on mechanical lien on the property and suing her for not only the $800.00 that she owes us but also for the cost of our attorney fees for which she will be responsible per contract signed by (Member Name Removed). We have a good reputation in the City of Detroit and every other city in the five counties we work in. (Member Name Removed) tried to cheat the wrong company because our track record for customer service and doing the right thing is flawless.

From the time of first contact to the completed repair, Edward's Matt and his crew, kept me informed about the entire process from what was wrong, to what parts were needed, when they were ordered and when they could be installed. Due to weather conditions (heavy rains) the installation was delayed for a time and I did have to contact Edward's to see what the hold up was but, other than that, they kept me in the loop for everything.

This review is very strange I checked the address of the writer and matched the info on 411.com and it is the correct person in the correct address. At first I thought this may be a competitor trying to sabotage our company because we don't have this customer in our system and we don't have this address in our system and we don't charge $300 for garbage disposal. The only thing I can come up with is that [member name removed] has us confused with another company. [member name removed] please call me at 866-353-9149 as you are nowhere in our system and I would like to talk to you about this further. We keep a customer base of everyone that calls into our phone line. Everything is computerized. we can find you by simply putting in your address or your name and you are nowhere in our system. We believe in serving all of our customers to complete satisfaction we never talk down to anyone and I guarantee you all of our employees know the function of a garbage disposal. As a matter of fact we don't have negative reviews on here because we always make sure everyone is satisfied. If you did business with us [member name removed] you would be in our computer system and you're not.

I called on Monday and set-up an appointment for Wednesday afternoon between 1 PM and 4 PM for a technician to come to my house to evaluate and possible replace the sump pump. At 3PM I had received no call, so I decide to call them back to see if there was a status. There was a bit of confusion because the person I talked to to set-up the appointment entered my name incorrectly. They got everything straightened out and got to my house at 4:30PM. The technician was very professional and he diagnosed the issue and replace our sump pump quickly.

The plumber coordinated the estimate with the insurance company and was flexible with the scheduling of the job. They paid a lot of attention to detail to ensure the area was quarantined to minimize cement dust throughout the house and the stairway was tarped to prevent damage and they did a really good job of this. However, they didn't make a final cleanup pass in the basement and the stairway after the jobs completion, like they said they would during their last visit. Instead of pushing the issue, I just did it myself. The cement work was completed quickly and looked nice. However, only a few days after the jobs completion, I'm already seeing hairline cracks across the area. This is not a problem yet, but we'll see what happens following any settling in the upcoming months. The drains are now draining perfectly. Punctuality: I have had 3 different plumbers to my house 6 times from this company and arriving on time is not their priority. An appointment time of between 8 and 10 means no earlier than 10. If they are going to be late, a courtesy call is not likely going to happen. Their receptionist is always friendly enough to follow up with the plumber in the field to find out where he is, though. During the plumbing replacement job described above, the crew said they were going to get parts and disappeared for 3 hours, which forced them to stay until after 7p to complete the job.
Description of Work: I had been having backups in my basement on and off for awhile until my kitchen and laundry sinks finally just stopped draining at all. Edwards Plumbing came to snake the pipe and diagnosed a probable broken pipe. The job consisted of jack hammering up the basement flooring above the old plumbing and replacing it with new PVC. Since the floor was already open, I decided to also add the rough plumbing for a basement bathroom in the same area (to be completed later).

Thank you for the honest comments Member. I just the claimed and registered the business on here at Angies List so this is the first I have seen of your post. I would have commented earlier. I think you will find things are much more organized here in the office when you call us back next time. We have just grown a bit and needed to catch up with technology and invest in some dispatching software. Now we know when your appointment is approching and our computer system tells us exactly where the tech is so that we know if he will be on time or if we need to assign another tech closer to the appointments location. We have implemented a policy that you are called a half hour before arrival and you will recieve a follow up call to ensure your satisfaction within one week of of the date your service was completed. Our technicians are wearing bootie covers over their shoes and making sure they leave the home they way they found it + the completed repairs. When we follow up with you, we are asking you specific questions regarding cleanliness to make sure every tech is treating your home just as if it were their own. We had to hire more staff in order to keep up with the follow ups and monitering of appointments but the referrals we are recieving for keeping such a high level of customer service is paying off 10 fold. Much better than any advertisement ever could. We definitly appreciate your business Member and if you have any issues or concerns you can call me anytime. Ask for James Edwards and Thank YOU!!.

Serviceman did inspections and then snaking of section of drain that was plugged based on the inspection result. Work went smoothly taking about an hour and serviceaman worked well with homeowner in reviewing past history of drain problems to determine the location of the problem in the drain line and the required course of action to permanently fix this recurring drain plugging issue.
Description of Work: Used camera to inspect drain line from house out to the main line at the street, and to inspect from stack clean out to sanitary clean out in floor. Also snaked line to remove plug in line. Made recommendations to permanently repair part of sanitary sewer line that had collapsed and was located under basement floor.

THEY DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT TO DO ALL OF THE WORK. THEY PUNCHED HOLES ALL THROUGH THE SEWER LINE AND NOW MY SEWER IS COLLAPSING. I HAD TO HIRE SOMEONE ELSE TO FINISH THE WORK.
Description of Work: THEY UNCLOGGED OUR SEWER SYSTEM.

Member it is impossible to punch holes in your sewer line unless you had a rotted out sewer in the first place. Your problem was a rotted out sewer. Sewer lines made of orange berg and cast iron begin to rot. They are fitted in sections and over time those seals begin to break and tree roots begin to grow into them. This was your problem not the snake machines we use in thousands of sewer lines. If a sewer cleaning machine was puncing holes in your sewer than you had a severly rotted line. Snake machines do not collapse sewers and if you understood that then you would have had us replace the line instead of having someone else do the replacement which is what our tech recommended for you to do. Inestead you wanted to blame your rotted line on an innocent company that had absolutely nothing to do with the poor condition of your sewer line other than trying to help you fix your problem. As far as price goes some of our competitors charge literally twice as much as us. If you pay attention to the comments of above there is not one person giving us a bad grade on price as matter of fact you are about the only person who has anything truly negative to say about us and your negative comments are not even valid as you accuse us for the collapse of your rotted line. I am sorry for the unfortunate issue you had to deal with. It is not fun to have to replace a sewer line and it is not cheap. So I can see how you would want to get upset and point your finger at someone. I wish you the best member and I hope in the future you will investigate the true possible causes for an issue before you go online and try to burn a company that has never done anything wrong to you.
