They wanted to charge a $250 fee because it was a weekend, so we declined and scheduled for during the week. In the interim, I used instructions in the manual to rectify the problem myself, but my fix only lasted a week, so we had them come by. He did the exact same thing I did (cleaned fuel sensors). I apparently had not cleaned them well enough... being new to tankless heaters, I didn't want to damage anything by being too abrasive with any of the small parts. So he literally sanded build up off of the sensors and charged me $175. No parts were replaced, nothing was broken... he took out <20 screws, inspected MY work, and sanded 3 fuel rod sensors that are less than an inch long each. $175??? What a joke. Lesson learned.

I will not hire this company again. The dispatcher misled me on the pricing, which she said would be $60.00 plus the cost of the repair. I knew that the material needed was a short length of PVC pipe, so the price seemed reasonable. When the plumber arrived he informed me that the rate for replacing the PVC pipe would be $225! He ended up charging $202, which still seems high. Had the dispatcher leveled with me, I would not have agreed to the work. I've given a D for Quality and another D for Professionalism. This refers to the quality and the professionalism of the dispatcher I spoke with. It is not a rating of the plumber who performed the work. The quality of his work and and his professionalism were fine.

It went well. The technician was very pleasant and efficient. However, I was a bit shocked when he said the cost for his labor on the second visit was $300. Added to the initial evaluation, the total paid was $439. I looked after the fact and some brand new hot water heaters for the same or less
Description of Work: My 1 year old hot water heater went out. On the initial visit it was diagnosed as needing a gas control valve replaced. I then had to call the manufacturer to request the needed part (since it was a year old, still under warranty). I had it shipped express and it arrived several days later. Once I had a scheduled arrival date, I called to arrange to have them return for the installation.

(1) Plumbing permit never pulled with original work in 2016, was issued in Feb 2017. (2) 6/8: City inspector on-site, plumbing work from previous year fails inspection. Called EPH, rework scheduled for 6/12. (3) 6/12: Plumber on-site, leaves to get parts. Returns 2 hrs later, but reschedules rework for 6/15. Condo office notified and water shut off requested. (4) 6/15: Plumber does not show-up. Called EPH, who apologizes, tells me that today is plumber’s day off, he should not have scheduled anything for today. Rework re-rescheduled for 6/29. (5) 6/29: 2-person crew arrives, plumbing reworked at scheduled time. (6) 7/3: City inspector on site, plumbing rework fails inspection, mechanical issue related to parts used. Called EPH, re-rework scheduled for 7/7. (7) 7/7: EPH office did not contact condo office, so water shut-off was never set-up. Re-rework rescheduled for 7/10. (8) 7/10: Plumber does not arrive. Called EPH who says plumber’s truck needed work/broke down, missing 2hr water shut-off window. Re-rework re-rescheduled for 7/13. (9) 7/13: I arrived late, plumber is not there. Story I piece together is that plumber left because the water is not off. Due to previous no-shows, condo staff waiting to hear that plumber was actually at the condo before shutting off the water. Plumber also may have been put-off by my mother-in-law's dementia. In any case, plumber never called condo office, never called me, just left. Called EPH, re-rework re-re-rescheduled for 7/17. (10) 7/17: 2-person crew arrives, one works on pipes and other sleeps in van outside with motor running. Plumber inside mentions he has no idea what the inspector wants really. (11) 7/19: City inspector on site, plumbing re-rework fails inspection again; problems highlighted in previous inspection not addressed. Inspector says codes are not new and that any licensed plumber should know exactly what needs to be done based on his report accessible on eTrackit website. He says no one from Edwards called him about this job. Called EPH, work scheduled for 7/21. I state that I will request to see the plumber’s license before I allow work to be performed. (12) 7/21: New plumber on-site, he arrives late, with only 45 minutes left in water shut-off window. He says he is the new supervisor. He assures me that he knows what parts are needed and what needs to be done, and he contacts the inspector’s office to make sure. Too late to actually do the work, he reschedules a plumber for 7/24, guarantees job will be completed to code then. (13) 7/24: No plumber on-site at condo. Called EPH, on hold for 20 minutes. Office not sure what happened, job is definitely on the day's schedule. They call me back later to say re-re-rework re-rescheduled for 7/26. They absolutely guarantee that the work will be completed to code then. (14) 7/26: Plumber arrives on time, has parts, has license. Re-re-rework performed. Inspector scheduled for 7/28 AM. (15) 7/28: Inspector passes plumbing work. The ordeal is finally over.
Description of Work: Edwards Plumbing & Heating (EPH) was sub-contractor hired by my contractor on a kitchen and laundry room remodel in 2016. Job requires condo office notification, with request for 2hr window for water shut-off. This needs to be done ~48 hrs in advance so condo can give other residents 24 hrs fair notice that the water will be shut off, too. Condo is my mother-in-law's, she has onset of dementia and is not comfortable dealing with workers in her home so I need to be there in case she gets confused. Description below is to my best recollection. It's long but details an award-winning level of abominable service.

The lack of professionalism at this establishment speaks for itself! You can never get ahold of the owner the company, and management takes forever to respond two issues. I had a plumbing job that took several months for them to finish properly on they never cleaned up after themselves! The plumber, Rob, was lazy and good for nothing. It has been six months since my initial estimate and the job is still not completed. Beware of this company at all costs

The plumber came over for the emergency at pm. came over the next day with a camera, he said there's a blockage and have to replace the sewer line. He called the office and said can not do the work until next week. He called the office a second time. I told them I will just have to call someone else, then he told me that they can start the dig on Wed to get the permit. But they didn't apply for the permit until Thursday afternoon. They said they will not start on Friday, but can start on Monday. They came on Monday promising that they would be finish that day but they did not fill the trench in until Friday, June 9th. A man from OSHA came to my house yesterday and told me that they had done a dig that was not conformed with the OSHA rules. They didn't say anything to me, there's a ditch digger machine in my yard, they left a ditch 40 x 50 area covered by stone, sticks and roots in the front yard. Apparently they are saying that I am responsible for the clean up. I talked to the general manager this morning and they had a power outage in the Detroit area and will call me back. I'm so upset with the damaged tree, it's a beautiful tree and I told them that they needed to use the shovel to dig around the tree instead of the machine, but they went ahead and used the machine which stripped some of the back off the tree. I have taken pictures of the tree. Since I'm not a tree specialist I don't know if this is a bad damage so I need to call an arborvitae to see if this tree will survive or not. I've talked to this people everyday and I have been put off every day. I have repeatedly call, at least 3 times a day.

I couldn't be more pleased with our experience with EPH, specifically Mark. He was on time, kind, respectful, and truly seemed to care about my problem and solving it quickly. After months of consistent backups, and after going through a few different plumbers, Mark at EPH was the only one I felt gave me a fair assessment of the situation and he was willing to work with me to get the problem solved as quickly and efficiently as possible. In the end, we needed to replace a portion of our sewers. While this situation is an unwelcome expense for anyone, after doing some research, I found the price to be fair. Not only that, but after explaining money was tight and that we needed to think about it, I also received a call from the manager (or owner?), Tom, who personally called to offer us information on their zero-interest financing. The personal call was unexpected yet appreciated and I felt went above and beyond. During the work being done, I was also able to observe and ask questions throughout the whole process. He explained everything clearly and answered all my questions with kindness and respect. Mark was easy to talk to and made all the arrangements for me. I would EASILY work with him again. In fact, after going through a few different plumbers, should I need a plumber again I'm calling him first! Great service, I would HIGHLY recommend!

I called in to request the service and a quote. The young lady told me that it would it would cost at least 250. "That in my best interest, they don't quote ahead of time what the cost will be". I just wanted a breakdown of hourly rates and she said that wouldn't be possible. I said thank you and will call someone else. Sounds a little shady to me. After a hard rain we had a pond form on the driveway as a result of the outdoor drain system being clogged. I got an immediate callback from the company at 7:30 am, and Jason came to my house the same day. He was able to figure out exactly where the clog was located and how it was caused. He was very knowledgeable, and returned first thing the following morning with a piece of machinery to clear the pipe and muck out the basin. He also had very helpful suggestions for ways we can avoid this problem in the future. I would not hesitate to have him back to solve any other plumbing issue.

I setup an appointment on Saturday 5/14 to get a quote for a Water Softener. I received a call from Blake saying they were slammed with emergencies but he would give me a quote over the phone. Was a very knowledgeable guy. He quoted me $1675 for the Softener and install. I called back later and decided to go with the quote. They scheduled me for Monday 5/16 between 10am and 1pm. After no one showed up I called and they said they were slammed again with emergency calls. I let it slide. They said they were going to get someone out today and just to give them a few minutes and they will call me back. 2 hours later I called back since I haven't heard anything. She apologized and asked if we could schedule it for 5/17 and I would be the first job of the day. Between 8am-10am. Annoyingly enough, again no one shows up. I guess it was another emergency or something. I called and did even demand an excuse. I cancelled and will find someone else to give my money too. Not a good way to do business with a potential customer...

Edwards used to be our go-to pluming service provides for years and I called again when discovered a toilet leak. Dan came on Mar 12 and gave a very expensive estimate and ordered parts. He promissed to come back a week later to finish. When he did not show up on Mar 19, I called the office every day the following week to hear the same answer - Dan will call you back. When he finally called, he was surprised that the leak was not fixed yet and that it was a news to him. He also said that the receptionists are new and do not know what they are doing. Jill was my daily contact in the office and added to my frustration. Finally, March 30, Jason came, installed the parts, spend a lot of time fitting and so far I hope he did a great job because I paid $475.00. Needless to say, I will avoid using Edwards in the future, as this is not the company I used to know and relied on.

The estimator gave us a price of $2000 to replace our 15 year old 75 gal LP water heater. After some talk and consideration on his part, he lowered the price to $1800. I gave him a $500 check to secure the deal. The following morning, someone from Edwards called to tell me the estimator had made a mistake and the actual price would be closer to $2000 for a job he said actually cost $2400 to $2600 to do. Since we need the heater, I gave the go ahead. The next day, my wife suggested we call a contractor who has done work on our house before. Since he was able to do the job for 1500, with a 50 gal water tank, we decided to go with him. I cancelled the job with Edwards and asked that they return my check rather than cash it. I asked her to call me to let me know that management would be sending my check back. Today is 11/23/15 and the bank informed me that the $500 check had been cashed. When I called to find out why my wishes were not honored, a different receptionist told me that she has seen the request, but that "someone upstairs missed it." But, I would receive a check, in the mail, next week. Since I had to pay the person who installed the new heater, it would have been nice to have the money left in my checking account to pay him.

My wife called me while I was driving back from Florida on a sunday at 3 pm and about 2.5 hours away form home telling me a toilet had overflowed in our basement and she was literally leaving for work. I called Edwards, explained the issue to the receptionist, ( I know a bit about plumbing) let them know I was 2.5 hours out, and he had me set up with a technician to come to my house from 6-8 pm. The receptionist called me right at 6pm, and let me know that the tech was on his way and would be there within half hour. 10 minutes later Bill showed up, diagnosed the issue, ( tree roots in the line) and within an hour he had it fixed. I was expecting a big charge being after 6pm on a Sunday and he explained that any time before 9pm, even weekends, as not considered with Edwards. He gave me the price before starting any work, and he stuck to it. The job was done fast, correctly, and for a very fair price. They had be between a rock and hard place as they were the third person I called trying to get someone out on a Sunday, and they could have really taken advantage of that but they didn't. Bill did a great job. I will use them again.

This is the 2nd time I've used Edwards. The first time my furnace went out...someone was here within hours and he was able to promptly fix the problem, and I felt that the cost was very reasonable. The 2nd time I used them for two repairs that we needed to have done prior to the sale/closing on our house. One was for the dryer and the other the furnace and I was thrilled that Edwards has a technician who could do both, saving me one service call fee and having a 2nd person come out. Service was prompt, technician was super friendly and very knowledgeable, and the price was fantastic. I would not hesitate to use these guys again!
