Description of Work: 10 days ago we bought a fridge from these guys. After my elderly Mother and Stepfather got it loaded in the truck and got it home safe and sound. The real challenge came. Removing doors, plotting a path and figuring out how and elderly couple and a crippled coal miner were going to move the thing. It didn’t at all dampen our excitement after going nearly seven months of not having a refrigerator. We had a Samsung side by side that looked to be in decent repair. It took us several hours but we got it in. After several more hours we even got it set up and making ice! Everything is going great until this morning. I reached in my fridge to get milk for my son’s breakfast and it is noticeably warm to the touch. The freezer still works, however I now have to throw away all of the food that was in the fridge. After several more hours of troubleshooting we give up and try to call the store for help. As it turns out the only way they will look at my fridge is if I bring the thing in. This is now the plan. We will bring it back in. We will get our money back. We will take it elsewhere. We will also inform anyone we can of our experience.

I did not nor would I ever use Kenwhirl. It would have been very easy for Hilda to offer a simple explanation as to why they were unable to keep the appointment made by Lowe's, or how maybe Lowe's made a mistake, but she did not seem to care.
Description of Work: A service appointment with Kenwhirl was scheduled by Lowe's Service Advantage on my behalf. On the day the appointment was to occur, I contacted Kenwhirl to ask when I could expect someone to arrive. I spoke with Hilda and she told me to contact Lowe's. I asked why and she told me again to contact Lowe's as they would not service my appliance and she hung up on me! I would not use Kenwhirl for any repairs based on this interaction! Why would anyone want to be treated this way? I have no idea if Kenwhirl performs quality work and I will never know because of how rude and unprofessional she was.

It did not cost me anything because it was under warranty. It is probably the 10th time we have had them come to our house. They are good at calling the first thing in the morning letting you know what time they will be coming. The past 5 appliance repairs they have done, they send a man out here, he is very good. I like that I am dealing with the same man, he is very competent. Probably they schedule by area. By the time he comes, he already knows the appliance.

We purchased several new appliances from ABC Warehouse as part of a kitchen upgrade. To be fair, their prices were good, and they offered to beat any price from anywhere - and they delivered. When the Dishwasher - a high-end Kitchenaid unit - began to leak after 4 months, the problems began. They sent their service contractor - Kenwhirl - out to fix the unit. The technician identified the problem as a defective pump unit (it is all self contained), and replaced the unit. He turned on the unit for about 5 minutes, announced that it wasn't leaking, and left. When we ran the unit through the first full cycle, it leaked. Kenwhirl came out and fixed the unit - again, replacing the pump unit. Same exact story. They came out a third time (actually fourth, since the first time they only inspected the unit), found that they had left connectors loose, tightened them, and left. Same problem - leaking during the rinse cycle. Since then, I have talked to the store manager, the regional manager, and the service line people - and submitted 7 online complaints through their system. No one has called back.
Description of Work: They are one of the contractors for ABC Warehouse. They were contracted to perform warranty work on a dishwasher that is only 8 months old. They did come to service the unit, but despite 4 visits and replacing the same part twice, the dishwasher is still leaking. They will not return calls, nor will ABC Warehouse.

I have never, through Angies list, have had to disagree with a customer so strongly. Normally if we had done something wrong we would apologize and try to correct. (please check other reports we have had) This report by the Member has been so misleading we had to respond. He reported that we came out on a 4 month old dishwasher. We received a call from ABC wharehouse on 1/13/11 and set up a call to go out to the home on 1/17/11. His date of purchase was 03/25/10, ten months old. We discovered his pump/motor was leaking and ordered part. We left message with the customer on 1/20 that part was here. Again we left message on 1/21 that the part was here. The Member called back on 1/21 and we set up a repair date of 1/26. We went to home installed pump/motor ran the dishwasher thru 3 cycles and left the machine working, clean and customer satisfied. We have a signed receipt stating the dates/times and customer satisfaction. From start to finish the job was completed in 5 days. On feb 4th we received a call of a leak in dishwasher. We went to home and discovered that the leak was in the customers plumbing of the home, not the dishwasher. The customer ionformed me that he wanted a new dishwasher. We, as a service company, do not have the authority to give him a new dishwasher. The facts that were presented by the Member, and the facts that actually happened are very disturbing. We have called ABC Wharehouse and they explained to us that the corporate office, the service department and the Canton store has returned his calls almost daily. We have never heard a single complaint about our service until we received this report from Angies List. We have been a contractor for ABC for many years and have always found them to be extremely professional and always willing to help the customer. If the Member would like to call us here at Kenwhirl (ask for Ray) we would be glad to try to help him come to some type of a closure on the issues he seems to be having. We find it very unfair to have a companys reputation tarnished by facts that are not true.

It was an ordeal. It took them five months to fix the dryer, because of their paperwork process. They kept saying it was fixed when it wasn't. It was a mess. When you need the service, you call the store. The store calls Kenwhirl. The first time, the paperwork said that the guy was done, when he really wasn't. Every time I called Kenwhirl, they acted like I never called them before. The job was covered by the dryer warranty. I didn't like their process. They said they couldn't rectify the situation unless I went back through the appliance store again to put in a new work order. I kept telling them that the first work order was never completed. In my opinion, they need to change their process. They need to get feedback from the customer as to whether or not the job was finished. They ordered the wrong part.

First of all let me start out by apologizing to you for the length of time it took to complete. Our records show that we received a call from your warranty company on july 1st and we came out on july 2nd to diagnose that it needed a new control board.We ordered part and returned on july 22nd and what we thought repaired the unit. It did take quite awhile to receive the board from whirlpool (sorry). We did not hear back from your warranty company untill nov.26th. We understand that the whole time it only would run on delicate. We ordered a different board from whirlpool and installed on Dec 11th. Again to long for parts to be sent from factory.Let me tell you that i am sorry for the miscommunication between our company and your warranty company. The parts not being readily available are getting to be a real problem in this business.There are so many different models now that it is almost impossible for the manufacturer to carry in stock.These should not affect you and we are sorry. I hope that you will give us a try again in the future. He called as promised to indicated what time he would arrive, he arrived on time and was a pleasure to deal with. A great experience........!!!!
Description of Work: Always difficult to know who to call when a repair may be required (since we don't do it very often). Our washing machine had a vibration that was causing it to "walk" on the floor during the spin cycle. Dave, the technician, inspected our machine and suggested a couple of possible repairs solution but indicated that the particular brand/model (Maytag) had a chronic issue with this specific complaint. He said it might improve the condition but could not guarantee a complete fix. He identified the parts that he thought would need to be replaced, gave us a detailed cost break down. He also check the feet on the machine and found that the rear two were not working correctly. He adjusted them, ran a test spin cycle, and said that maybe that was the only fix needed. He said to try several load of wash and see how the vibration was. If necessary he would come back and install the parts he identified earlier. We've done several loads and the machine works perfectly....no need for further repair but, in case, we have 30 days to decide (won't be charged service call in that period)

The service man arrived at my on house on April 17,2010. He was on time . He was very professional and polite. He examined my dryer and said it could be fixed . He did not have the part on his truck to fix it .It had to be ordered. We had to reschedule the appointment for 04/20/10. There was no charge for the initial visit since he could not finish the job. He was promptly on time on April 20,2010. He finished the job in 15 minutes. My total bill was $120.00. The amount some other companies wanted just to look at the appliance.
Description of Work: I needed the heating element of my 30 year old Kenmore dryer repaired. I called several appliance repair companies. Most of the other companies wanted to charge 4 fees (house call fee $75-$85 dollars plus a diagnostic fee of $35-$40 , plus parts and labor). The fees apply even if the appliance could not be fixed. I spoke with Hilda when I called their company. This company stood out above the rest for honesty and integrity and fair prices.

Repair man was to call 6/8/09 after 8:30 to give estimate of time he would arrive. gave between 10 and 12, showed at 10:30. he listened to the refrigerator, poked around, tried to look up the model number but the tag was missing. said he would have to find the right motor as it wasn't a standard model. he left and we were to call if we found the model, otherwise he would do his best to look it up. we found the information and called the shop. he called us back at 4 and gave us an estimate of the cost and said he'd call the next morning to set a time. He called at 10, said he'd be over in an hour and was. He took about 30 minutes to make the repair, was good about cleaning up after himself, gave me full information before he left, and came in under the estimate. I asked about whether repairing the current refrigerator or getting a new one would be a better idea, he advised against a new refrigerator as our current one works fine other than one problem that needs fixing from time to time. new refrigerators aren't always as reliable as ours and repairs are more expensive.

I called mid-afternoon on Saturday and was able to set up an appointment for the following Monday. I happened to be on vacation and the wait for service was not an issue. I was called on Monday morning and was given a one and one-half hour window of service. I felt this was exceptional as I expected a possible three or four hour window of service. The techniciam arrived exactly at the beginning of the service time; he was very polite and knowledgeable. He also did not mind me watching the repair ( I am curious about how things work!) As it turned out it was not my dryer but a blocked vent out of the building. I will have my condo association take care of this issue. My dryer did have a check-up and I am much relieved.

Repairman indicated that the cost to repair the washer would be around $300 since they would need to tear it apart. He indicated the leak was from the center mechanism Unfortunately, I cannot find the receipt and notes I had taken. This happened about 2 months ago. I would definitely recommend using this company.
Description of Work: Called for evaluation of Maytag washer and why it was leaking. He came when he said he would. The estimate for his evaluation was exactly what he charged me. He indicated the amount I paid for the evaluation could be applied to any work I decided to have them do. He was very direct and did not waste time.

The repairman was very polite and came within the two hour window he gave me the day before. When he tested the stove he found more problems than just burner electrodes and after giving us an estimate for repairs honestly suggested based upon the age of the stove and the condition of the computer controlling ignition that if it were his he would replace rather than repair the unit. He also provided tips for brands and features to avoid based upon his history repairing certain models. While I was disappointed that the cost to repair the stove would be very high I appreciated his honesty and suggestions for our future purchase.

I was glad to have found this company to help us with hardware items over the years. They always do an excellent job of fixing units we really don't want to replace, and this time out they were able to get the machine running like new. I don't remember the price exactly, but I can say it was reasonable and competitive with others out there. I would recommend them and will use them again.
Description of Work: We had a washing machine that was on the blink and they came out and changed a part inside the machine. It took them about one hour or so to do this and they took the part as well as any left over material and waste along with them when they left. Over the last 3-4 years, KenWhirl has been to my house on numerous occasions to repair our washing machine (3), gas clothes dryer (2), and gas range (1) - we have replaced all but the range with newer appliances. KenWhirl has always replied to our request in a timely manner, arrived as appointed, identified the cause of the problem and repaired the appliance either during the initial visit or when the replacement parts arrived, and cleaned up afterwards.

I was so impressed by the service I received. My refrigerator broke down, so I called them immediately and they got the part on order right away. As soon as it arrived, they came out to install it, which was on Labor Day weekend. They have very good customer service.

We had a leak coming from somewhere in the fridge. I called Kenwhirl. During his work, he found that the valve that fills the ice cube tray and water in the door was is bad order. He had to order the part. He called and made an appointment to install the new valve. We are very satisfied with Ron's work.

AFTER INSPECTING OUR WASHER THEY BROUGHT US A NEW PART FOR IT INSTEAD OF TELLING US WE NEED TO GET A NEW WASHER. I WAS VERY THANKFUL THAT THEY COULD FIX IT.

THEY DID VERY GOOD WORK. THEY WERE KIND OF EXPENSIVE HOWEVER. THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE SERVICE CALL AND THEN FOR EVERY ONE OF THE APPLIANCES THEY SERVICED.
