It went Great! We found out that Roberta Lathrop was visiting a mutual friend from Michigan at the same time that I had to move my mom from her 2 bedroom home to 1 bedroom senior assisted living apartment. During the visit with Roberta, I hired her for my dilemma. I took her to the apartment and I could feel her wheels turning. She started measuring windows, rooms, closets, etc. Then we went to moms house to figure out what needs to go to apartment and what goes to Sunshine Village. More measuring, pictures, furniture, nick naks, kitchen, even the kitchen and bathroom items had to be downsized and put in different, safer places. I would have never thought of putting cups, glasses, dishes etc., in drawers. The final thing that put tears and love in my eyes is when Roberta put a large picture up next to her bed. Moms daughter drew a picture of Jesus when she was about 15 that was just beautiful. It was facing her bed in apartment. Roberta divided things in bathroom closet for her level on walker. Once a week I would rotate to bring more down and know what to buy more of. I realized she had a great eye for locating things for handicapped people in a safe and organized way. All through her walk throughs, her wheels kept turning. Safety for the resident was her #1 priority. Getting all the loving things she wanted to transfer was her #2 priority. Mom was happy, safe and loved. I am now using some of Robertas hints on myself.

Roberta and her team were professional and great to work with. We have several advisors in our office, all with very different opinions and desires and she did a great job of meeting each of their individual needs.

Everything went extremely well. Roberta is a wonderful professional. She captured our vision for the project, helped us refine it and then brought it to realization even better than we had imagined. She drew on an excellent network of skilled artisans and tradesmen that made the plan a reality. She also has a gift for using the furniture that we have so that we did not need to buy everything new. This is the second time we have relied on her to help us remodel a condo. The first project increased the market value of the unit so that we could sell the condo for $20,000 over the average price in our complex. The current project in our second condo was more extensive and we are completely satisfied (thrilled, even) with the result. We enthusiastically recommend Designs By Roberta.

Roberta helped update then stage our former home which helped immensely with it selling quickly at a good price. This included flooring, paint colors, decluttering, & arrangement of furniture and pictures. It looked almost like a new home with the updates and staging. At our new home, she helped design the arrangements of furniture and pictures along with paint colors and choosing all new appliances. We look forward to her assisting with flooring choices and new furniture. She listens to our interests & preferences and pulls it all together. She’s amazing!

Roberta is an excellent consultant and designer. She was willing to do our projects even though we live well outside the Grand Rapids area. She is a good listener and tries to achieve what the client wants. She is mindful of budget friendly solutions to achieve completion of a successful project.

This is the second time we have used Designs by Roberta. This time we needed a complete kitchen remodel. Nothing had been updated for many years. Roberta’s design was perfect. She has professional contacts , all of whom are honest. The craftsmanship for the kitchen cabinets is outstanding. The painting is perfect. The flooring is beautiful. The countertop is wonderful. Roberta has the ability to envision a complete project and yet is willing to let us express what we would like. She’s easy to work with, reasonably priced, totally professional. I’d definitely will use her again and highly recommend her.

VERY, VERY WELL - Her work deserves an A+. Roberta spent enough time with us to understand our preferences, existing furniture and vision for an up-to-date condominium. In a week she drafted a plan that met our needs and our budget. She sought our input with each decision. Her flexibility along with her artistic vision transformed our condo from blah to beautiful. Roberta has an astounding sense of color. Starting with our existing furniture, she presented a color pallet that flows beautifully across main floor. Standing in the kitchen or the far end of the main floor, you can see the how the different colors and shades unify the space. Her network of professionals is remarkable. The painter she referred us to did the most beautiful interior work we have seen. We still marvel at the beauty of the colors and workmanship, wherever we sit on the main floor. We finished the plan in late October. We asked that all the work be completed by Christmas. She delivered on time, working with her superb network of tradesmen to rearrange and coordinate their calendars for our benefit. The painting was done right after Thanksgiving, the flooring was laid in mid December, and the window treatments were installed just before Christmas. Roberta contacted an artist who brought to life Roberta's remarkable vision to refinish a china cabinet in a slightly different shade from the kitchen walls. Thanks to the Roberta's ingenious treatment of the china cabinet, the kitchen blends into the rest of the main floor. We now have an updated, unified kitchen which has become a favorite gathering place. Roberta's clever rearrangement of our furniture along with her coordinated color choices has allowed for smooth transition from one room to the next, a characteristic that is so important in a condo. Roberta recommended Hunter Douglas window treatments which are soft translucent fabric and highly functional. They bring the outside light and colors into our condo, while preserving our privacy. The flooring that she recommended is easy to maintain and coordinates beautifully with the rest of the color scheme.

Roberta has the ability to step in and offer whatever design assistance you need. Whether it is redecorating floor to ceiling or help with specific areas. She listened to me and understood exactly what I was trying to accomplish. She worked with me until I found exactly what I was looking for. Her measurements and calculations were exact when it came to redoing the center island. Her suggesting of using a quartz stone for the center island has been the best thing I could have ever done. Quartz is virtually indestructible and without her direction on this aspect, I probably would have selected a material that would not have served me as well.

I have had the pleasure of working with Roberta Lathrop at Designs By Roberta a couple times now and will rely on her for future design needs. I first contacted her to purchase blinds. When I realized she brought more than the product with her: design ideas; product consultation/education; and color expertise, I was quick to hire her again for her $99 special for 99 minutes. I used this offer to help me organize my thoughts when remodeling my family room. She advised on colors, textures, lighting, furniture and accoutrements. I was thankful she was considerate in using existing, sentimental pieces in addition to adding just the right amount of new. This was cost effective on its own- but then she introduced me to a network of professionals, i.e. lighting, to capitalize on their expertise and her discounts, too. Thank you, Roberta, for eliminating the stress in making decisions for new looks!

I was pleased by the choices that Roberta gave me. She was very knowledgeable about different brands and pricing and knew the answers to all of my questions. Everything she promised was delivered on time and she followed up with the installers to make sure the blinds were hung correctly and the flooring was laid down the right way. I give Designs by Roberta 2 thumbs up for great service and honest answers. She really knows her stuff about interior design.
