If you use this company for a construction loan to Build Your "HANDS ON HOUSE" they will deliberately delay their part of the build and charge you outrageous interest fees. We have been building our house for over a year and a half, they finally finished installing our furnace almost a whole year to install a furnace in at 2400 sq foot house. "Installing" we had to hire another HVAC company to complete their work another out of pocket expense that is also in the package we are paying for in our mortgage!!! They had 3 different framers at our house and we still do not have a properly framed master bathroom. They asked us to go ahead and find someone locally if we can and they will pay for the rough framing of our master bathroom. But the stairs were still framed incorrectly and the french doors were framed the wrong size mind you they supply the doors and measure for them. They do not want to pay for this we are paying out of pocket to have a carpenter redo these things. They have sent out 3 framers and all of them framed things incorrectly the doors do not even fit. Our finish carpenter redid all the door jams again they measure and order them. They sent us two of the wrong size bath tubs. The original framer, framed all the windows, doors, staircase and fireplace wrong all had to be redone by another framer and another and then finally we had to hire someone and pay additional out of pocket for redoing their poor work which we are already paying for in their "package" All while charging us interest on a construction loan also a bad idea!! The 3rd framer they sent out didn't even have a ladder we had to go out and purchase one for him to use that cost was $360.00 for on that was tall enough. The Tyvek they installed kept falling off and missing in places all around the whole house. They "accidentally" overcharged us about $22,000.00 in our purchase agreement they said that happens. I can go on and on with all the issues we have had with this company, not to mention our dreams of a beautiful home are ruined. We have tons of pictures of all the mistakes, sloppy work, just very shoddy work in general. They hire the cheapest companies they can find for their part of the package. All along the way telling us everything will be fine this stuffs happens. Just to get an email letting us know you only have $14,000.00 left to draw from when we didn't even have a furnace! We are working with an attorney now as they are in breach of the contract. Please do yourself a big favor and higher a reputable builder. As if that wasn't bad enough, the windows they installed already have issues if I'm going off of their track record I'm sure they won't stand behind their product or services. In addition to their endless delays and sub-standard and unsafe construction they are still charging us interest everyday until we can somehow close on this nightmare. They are charging us thousands of dollars because the house wasn't completed in 6 months! We waited for months for them to send a framer down to complete work or someone from PG Homes to see what was going on with our house. That the delays were 100% their fault and that they actually owe us money for all these issues and their failure to complete the home in 8 weeks. WE are still not DONE, we are still missing siding pieces THEIR part of the build!

In my opinion, this company typifies exact the type of company consumer reviews are most useful for. In our experience, they are the evil triad of home construction companies: incompetent, deceitful, and don’t honor their commitments. This company built a home for us in 2015. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. First, they did not construct the home in the time frame they promised. They promised they would complete the “shell” of the home (roof on with shingles) in 8 weeks – it actually took them 5 months. It took them 5 more months to put up and complete the siding. As a result, it took 10 months to complete a house that should have been completed in less than 5 months. We couldn’t get a certificate of occupancy without the siding being completed, which meant our house (which was fully completed on the inside and had running water and electricity) sat empty for four months while we waited for them to complete their work (and continued to pay short-term rental rates on an apartment at the cost of $2,000 a month). Their delays also cost us the homestead tax exemption for the entire tax year because we missed the deadline to file (because we couldn’t file without a certificate of occupancy). I’ve attached a picture showing what their siding crew considered one day’s worth of “work” – one and a half rows of siding on a 14 foot wall. After completing that, their worker went out and sat in his car for an hour, then came back, drunk as a skunk, promising he would come back tomorrow and finish the rest (and then he no-showed the next day). Repeat over and over again for weeks. We had the similar problems with almost all of their crews – they wouldn’t show up for days or weeks at a time on beautiful days when the weather for perfect or they would show up, work half a day or less, and leave. This isn’t the first home we’ve had constructed and I was stunned by the laziness and lack of professionalism of their “work” crews. As if that wasn’t bad enough, when they did show up, they did shotty and dangerous work when constructing the frame of our home. Specifically, when our roof trusses were delivered, they were set on the ground next to the foundation. Their workers drove over the roof trusses when they were on the ground, cracking several of them in half. For those of you who aren’t familiar with construction, your roof trusses support your roof and are engineered to support the loads on the roof, including the weight of snow. Rather than ordering new trusses, they tried to conceal the mistake by installing the cracked roof trusses ANYWAY (over our children’s bedrooms as well). Fortunately, we had a diligent home inspector who noticed that the lateral support beams for the trusses were cracked in half and demanded they be fixed. If our inspector hadn’t noticed that, we faced the very real possibility that our roof could have collapsed under the weight of snow at some point in the future. I’ve attached a picture of one of the trusses, which has a visible crack that you can see from 15+ feet away (this picture was taken standing at floor level). And who knows what other dangerous defects might be in the house that we or our inspector didn’t catch? We’ve been in the house less than two years and are already having problems with several of the windows and doors, which were also not properly installed. In addition to their endless delays and sub-standard and unsafe construction, they also had a worker who repeated showed up to work under the influence and who stole from us repeatedly (which we captured on video). And it took weeks to replace him, despite endless complaints on our part! To top it all off, after all their delays, they tried to charge us thousands of dollars more because the house wasn’t completed in 6 months! Never mind that the delays were 100% their fault and that they actually owed us credits under their contract for their failure to complete the home in 8 weeks! When we refused to pay, they keep increasing the amount supposedly owed and then told us they were going to foreclose on our house if we didn’t pay! They also claimed they were revoking the 0% construction loan rate we had been promised and claimed they were “retroactively” increasing it to 10.9% because we refused to pay money we didn’t owe. At the end of the day, they demanded as much as $60,000 more than the actual construction cost of the home if we didn’t give in to their demands. We ended up hiring a lawyer and suing them for breach of contract and we won. In the course of that lawsuit, we learned of four other families that have gone through the same nonsense with them (and those are the ones we know of – I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more). Two other families also sued them for breach of contract within weeks of when we sued them. The fact that a small builder has three separate families suing them over the course of a few months for violating their contracts should be enough to give anyone pause. Another of the for families couldn’t afford to sue, but tried to get the word out through honest and truthful reviews such as this one, but they were threatened with a defamation lawsuit by the builder, so they withdrew their reviews. The builder tried to silence us as well by demanding we sign a confidentiality agreement to resolve the case, but we refuse to be silenced. If we had seen a review like this prior to building with them, we never would have hired them and it would have saved us from having to go through 3 years of **** with them. I would never recommend anyone use this company and certainly would not recommend anyone obtain a construction loan through them. I don’t believe anyone saves money using them – I believe they deliberately delay in building their homes so they can tack on a bunch of imaginary "late" fees on their clients. Case it point -- it does not take five months to install siding on a house that is less than 2500 square feet!! Hiring them will end up costing you much, much more in money and aggravation. Run fast in the other direction!!! Feel free to contact me at pghsucks2017@gmail.com if you need more information. I am more than happy to help other unsuspecting consumers avoid getting trapped by these charlatans.

They made building our own home possible. They took our blueprints and our "green" energy requirements and constructed the frame and roof, then suggested subcontractors we could hire to do the finish work-- everyone of which did a great job and collectively brought the project in under budget. This is the company to go to if you want to build your own home, but have no idea what you are doing. OR if you have the ability to do some or all of the finish work yourself. We couldn't be happier with our new home.
