Paul and Bill are great at what they do. They took their time to do the inspection, about 3.5 hours. They checked and rechecked everything. Great communication skills and very very detailed report, which included pictures and description of all issues found during the inspection. I called on a very short notice and they worked me in the schedule. They showed up on time, took their time doing the inspection, no rush at all and made sure to leave the house as clean and organized as they walked in, they used different shoes and shoe covers to work inside. I will hire them again without any hesitation and already recommended them to friends and family.

Paul and Bill went way above the call of duty in inspecting my future home. They came out three separate times because of miscommunication with the seller (not their fault). They were prompt, friendly, and knowledgable. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a home inspection.

I scheduled on short notice and they were able to fit me in. Paul explained in detail what they would do and what items were not part of the inspection. They were there early getting a head start on the exterior and garage. They did a thorough job, checking all wiring, plumbing visual inspection, every outlet, switch and space in the house, doors, windows, fireplaces, appliances etc, etc. and were looking for things that may have been a problem that weren't part of their inspection. they also provided some insight and options on a few things I was considering after I purchased, and they weren't trying to sell me on anything. The report was emailed to me later that night and was very comprehensive and very easy to understand. From what I understand normal home inspections take about 3 hours, there were two of them here and they spent close to 3 1/2 hours checking everything out. Very well done, very professional and overall just great guys.

Called Paul requesting a home inspection. Paul agreed to the date and time that I needed to have the inspection done. I arrived approximately 5 minutes early, and Paul and Bill were already waiting for me. They did a very thorough job of checking everything that they could from top to bottom. I had thought the house was in pretty good shape when i made an offer to buy it, and I was wrong. Paul found extensive mold growth throughout the basement rafters, structural issues with an addition on the house, miswired light plugs, live electrical lines where they shouldn't have been, and water leaking into the finished basement. They advised me ahead of time that it would be approximately a 3 hour inspection, and were still there after 5 hours, with no change in cost, because the job wasn't done yet. They will give you their honest opinion about what needs to be done, and how soon, as well as ways that you can address certain issues yourself. Paul gets up on the roof to inspect it, as well as crawling into the attic to check insulation and look for any water damage. I would definitely use them again, and since I chose to not buy that house after their inspection, I will be using them again shortly.

We spoke on the phone and he was able to accommodate the date for the inspection. He answered my questions when I called. I am an out of state investor so I am not able to be present at the time of inspection so my realtor and his associates will be assisting with the process. Since I'm not there most of the time to see things in person, I like to make sure everything is done correctly and if there is a problem, the person/company is properly insured. I asked if he was insured and he said "yes" and assured me that he is a licensed builder for over 40 years. So I asked if I can get a copy of the insurance to make sure. He said he couldn't because it would be "too much" work. I told him, I prefer to see a copy of it to verify. Then he told me to just hire someone else because he is too busy. He said he has never been asked to provide a copy. My thoughts are, if you are willing to go out to get insured for your work, then you should expect that any client will ask to see a copy of it. Not everyone will just take some stranger's word for it. And if you don't have one, then be up front and say you don't have one. Don't tell a client you have one and then say you can't provide it. Great business practice!

Response from Tri-County Home Inspection Services
This call came in after working hours, however we answer the phone when home up to 11:00 PM as a service for our customers. I was a little confused when the client ask for proof of insurance as this is usually given to the person that owns the property as this is to protect the contents of the building while were on the property. I told her we were fully State Licensed and insured (State of Michigan Builders Licensed #2101069608) I explained to her that I didn't have the Certificate of insurance at home available to send to her that I could contact my insurance agent tomorrow for a Certificate, I was getting the feeling that this wasn't going to work, I then told her why not get get someone else to do your inspection, she hung up. We strive to do the very best job for our customers, I've been told that we inspect things that most inspectors don't. We test all gas pipes, furnace valves and the gas meter for gas leaks. We use the same type of meter that the gas company uses. We also test for carbon monoxide, age and date furnace, a/c and water heater. As well has a complete home inspection. Pull the electric main panel, check home for electrical issues. We walk the roof get in to the crawl space if they have one check for mold and the R rating, look for asbestos containing insulation and pest that get in to the attic areas. Take a few minuets and read our inspection reviews after reading them feel free to call us with any questions you have, Thank you for your time I hope to hear from you soon, ...Paul 248 563 6789 or e-mail me at pcrowley59@hotmail.com.

So happy with our experience with Tri-County/Paul and Bill! We chose to contact this company based on glowing Angie's List reviews. The decision to then hire them was clinched when I called for information on their services (was calling other companies as well) and during the course of the call Paul provided me with several helpful insights into the home we had under contract - without even knowing whether we would be using him or not. I could tell he was very experienced and a pleasant guy to work with so we scheduled the inspection. Following that we had to reschedule a few times and Paul was very accommodating. The day of the inspection went much more smoothly than expected. My husband and I have been through a few inspections before and the feeling we always left with in the past was of being completely overwhelmed with info and uncertainty. Some inspectors can make it seem like everything is a huge, pressing issue that is going to sabotage your experience in the home. Then you don't know how to prioritize what to fix first. NOT SO with Paul and Bill! They were fantastic about explaining everything right at our level and helping us grasp whether it was a significant issue requiring action (eg a gas leak was found in the basement) or simply a run of the mill glitch that is found in just about any house. We had a clear understanding of which deficiencies needed to be addressed quickly and which could wait and be picked at bit by bit over the years. That piece of the inspection was invaluable to us! Paul and Bill were as thorough as could be. Seemed like nothing escaped their notice! The inspection report provided was also easy to understand and full of helpful guidelines. A previous reviewer mentioned the banter between these guys and I have to agree that that is the icing on the cake. My husband and I were kept laughing and at ease throughout the inspection. Paul and Bill need their own reality show.

Good, solid, old fashioned quality service - the way it should be. My wife and I arrived a little earlier than the agreed time for the inspection and there were Paul and Bill waiting for us. They checked everything I could have thought of, and then some. Paul and Bill work as a team and are cross-checking each other all the time. The banter alone between them as they discuss each item is work paying for. I would definitely follow them around with a notepad to record all the sage advice they share freely. They answered every question patiently and seriously, regardless of how simple or complex the topic. During the inspection they were also constantly providing tips on how to prevent potential issues from occurring. They even fixed a number of issues during the inspection and made adjustments to prevent some issues from occurring in the future. Paul and Bill obviously have many years of experience between them. They care about what they do and go out of their way to provide the best service. The inspection was not rushed and very thorough. Almost 3 hours for our small condo, including the basement. The inspection was done in the afternoon and the information-filled report was emailed the same day. Everything they covered during the inspection was included in the report and all issues had a picture of the actual issue with recommendations on corrective actions. It is without hesitation that I recommend the peace of mind Paul and Bill provide.

I chose this company because of the great reviews on Angie's List. They did not disappoint! Paul and Bill were a pleasure to work with. When I arrived to the house, they were already on the roof inspecting everything. They pointed out any minor or major improvements that may be needed. I appreciate them pointing out the small things that may not be urgent but just so I can have an understanding of how much everything will cost to fix. They were both very professional and knowledgeable. They even offered suggestions on how to fix certain items. The inspection lasted about 3 hours. They found a minor gas leak that we alerted the sellers immediately to fix. Paul even climbed up in the attic to make sure everything was ok. When the inspection was completed, my wife and I felt confident on moving forward with the purchase of our house. Also, within hours of completion of the inspection, they e-mailed us a 40 page document with detailed descriptions and pictures of everything they found! It definitely helped when negotiating with seller. I would recommend Paul to everyone I know. You will not be disappointed!

First, be present for the inspection so you can jot down all the minutia that Paul and Bill tell you, even though you'll get an email copy of the report. It's so helpful to be able to ask questions, and both Paul, owner and his partner, Bill, are happy to educate you. They spent 3 hours covering all the details of my proposed new home. Paul was on the roof, and cleaned out a gutter before I arrived. He went over all details, from roofing materials, brick repair, windows, lighting, gutters, etc. on the exterior. Then inside, Paul and Bill covered the heating and cooling systems, found 2 gas leaks, tested the electrical, climbed into tiny attic access to view insulation (unable to actually go into attic). It was an extensive and helpful inspection, especially as I was concerned about the basement walls (not water damage, just neglect, and they need to be scraped, scrubbed and dry-lock painted) and the plumbing. The sewer system, thankfully, overflowed from running the dishwasher and toilets while we were there, and exposed a potentially expensive problem. Paul insisted that I not sign the purchase papers until the sewer line was snaked and scoped to see the cause of improper drainage. They had many great hints and suggestions for small things too (replace storm doors, how to fix the garage door opener, etc.) that are helpful. I would highly recommend Tri-County!

Starting off with my summary before I go into any details about the service, I would recommend Paul as a home inspector to everyone I know and also to random people that I meet on the street. Now for details. As many other people state on here, Paul and his partner Bill were already at the property when I got there, and I was early. Paul had already inspected the exterior and roof and then took the time to walk me around the outside of the house and point out what he had already discovered. Then we headed inside and he began what can only be described as a completely thorough inspection. Anything he discovered along the way, he took the time to explain what he had discovered and also provided advice about what might have caused it and possible fixes. His knowledge level really helped me feel comfortable with the analysis and with what I was buying. Not only would I recommend him to anyone I know, but I would definitely use him again on any home purchase.

When I initially went on Angie's List to find a home inspector, Tri-County was the top review and I can see why. Paul and his partner Bill did two home inspections for me and both times they were through, detailed, and meticulous with their inspection, letting me know of issues and potential issues with each house they reviewed. Because of their inspection and review, I feel confident in going forward with buying a house and I owe to Tri-County for giving me that piece of mind. I would recommend Tri-County to anyone looking for a new home inspection.

Wonderfully. Paul was very responsive and called me back when he said he would. He accommodated my need for an appointment the next buisness day. Paul and his assocuate were very thourough-combing over the house for more than 3.5 hours. Received a complete thoughtful report of the inspection in short order. Gave lots of advice on how to tackle some 'minor' noted repairs that should eventually be done.

I called on June 5th to schedule a home inspection. He said he was available on Tuesday the 10th after I said that time was perfect. I gave him the address. Tuesday came and he wasn't there. I called and he said he didn't have it on the books or anything for me at all, even on another day. Maybe the days got mixed up, he said no nothing. He was acting like he had never talked to me at all and it was my fault not his. Three days later, Friday afternoon he shows up at the address to do an inspection. For having said he had nothing down for me, he did know the address. I would not have scheduled for Friday because Thursday was the last day I could have asked for anything to be done on the house. I do not know what kind of inspector he is because he couldn't get the appointment time correct.

Let me start this review by saying that the inspection service provided by Tri-County Inspection Servies was top notch, and very thorough. As stated by many other customers, Paul and Bill came out and went through my future home from top to bottom. To go more in detail, Paul the owner, told me he'd be there roughly 30 minutes early to take a look at the roof, and just like he said he was there on time and already knee deep in the inspection when I arrived. They started in the garage, and meticulously went from there through each room in the house. All during the inspection, Paul and his partner Bill, took time to explain any and everything they found. On top of pointing out each issue they found, they would also explain the cause, and give recommendations on how to fix it. They gave me a number of recommendations on the issues found, from minor to major, and even offered their tools up for use to repair these things later after I closed. On top of the great work, both gentlemen are completely hilarious, and made the 4 hour inspection seem to fly by. Once the inspection was completed, Paul went over the findings one last time with me, and just as he said, had my report to me early the next morning. ***Update 6/17/14*** These guys continue to impress me. During my initial inspection, a water leak was found, so the plumbing in the house could not be completely inspected. I called Paul to see if he'd come back out and take a look, and how much it would cost me. Turns out he was 10 minutes down the road, and he came right over with Bill and went through the plumbing. While there, they took a look at the repaired leak under my sink, which seemed to have been some very low quality work, and they helped me fix another leak that we found on top of the newly repaired leak. They even found a possible black mold issue that we all missed during the initial inspection that I'm now taking back to my seller to have them deal with! Oh, and they did all this for free! Just want to add, while I stand by my earlier comments, there was a couple fairly major things that were missed in my basement. Had these been found during my original walk through, I could have had more time to negotiate with my seller on the items. I'd still recommend them to folks, just would add that point to folks when I did.

This is the first time I've gone through a home inspection so I researched on Angie's list first. The inspection was of a house owned by my family that we are debating me buying vs. selling so I wanted to know what I was getting myself into if I bought it. Paul and his assistant (?) showed up even earlier than expected and were already on the roof when I got there looking at the outside. (We'd agreed ahead of time they could start on the outside without me). They went through the whole house very thoroughly and took a look at everything and explained their findings to me, and took a long time doing it (which I preferred). They took pictures during the inspection and I had a nice pdf emailed to me the very same night. Aside from the more practical aspects, I was also looking for an inspector that would be willing to share knowledge and explain things without any smarmy snow jobs, or talking down to me (assuming I won't understand because I'm female for example, which still happens far too much some places), and they did a great job here. Almost made me want to be an inspector myself, it was quite fascinating. Very nice guys.

I choose Tri-County based upon the research completed within Angie's List. The reviews spelled out clearly that they act on behalf of the seller. I wanted someone that would have my best interest in mind for this home purchase. The reviews also detail that Tri-County takes a little longer than most to complete the home inspection process. Again, I did not care how long it took as long as I felt like the home was thoroughly gone through. My inspection pushed close to 4 hours with Paul sharing what he was seeing throughout the entire process. He took the time to explain what he was looking for and why. What issues to look out for in the future, etc. We had a small issue with a GFI plug not resetting. That same plug was tied into the garage door and exterior garage lights. As a result the garage door would not close. Paul put into place a solution that he believed addressed the issue but later were advised by the homeowners that it did not. Upon finding this out the following day Paul was out to the property again very quickly and fixed the issue for the homeowners. Turning a tense situation into a positive very quickly. The current home owners even asked for his contact information to assist in their pending home search and inspection. Paul will protect your rights as the buyer. The current homeowners inquired with him on his findings of the inspection when he returned to the property to address the garage door issue and he refused to share the details, citing that his findings were the property of the buyer. I would recommend him to anyone. It would be wise to advise your agent of the expected time to complete the inspection to ensure that all parties are on the same page.

We contacted Paul through Angie's list's messaging service and they got back right away. They did our buyer's home inspection right away and we had our full report by 10pm the same day as our inspection. We were happy with the very thorough report but what was especially helpful was the communication about everything that was going to be in the report as we walked around the house. There were two inspectors but they still stayed for three hours crawling around and looking at everything. They made sure we understood why something made the report and that was helpful. Hopefully we don't need them for another house anytime soon but if we did, I'd used them again.

I called Paul with a request to do a home inspection on very short notice. I had five calendar days to complete the inspection and that included the Easter holiday weekend. Paul scheduled me on the Saturday before Easter, even though he was not planning to work that day. He brought Bob with him to facilitate the inspection. Between them they did a very thorough job. This included checking all windows, doors, and appliances. They also the electrical, heating and plumbing systems, and sump pump. Bob checked drains, faucets, outlets. They also checked the exterior, including window calking, solidity of deck and patio, siding, roof, gutter system, foundation and drainage. He noticed cracks and foundation issues and addressed their severity and suggested how to fix them. His report was thorough and prompt. I was very satisfied with Paul's work and with his friendly, helpful attitude and would definitely recommend his services.

Paul was prompt, courteous, and professional. He did a good inspection; he crawled through the attic to look for evidence of knob and tube wiring, checked for gas leaks found previous fire damage (which had been covered up with paint), and found enough damaged asbestos that we decided not to buy the house. Thanks Paul!
