Overall the inspection went smoothly. He was so thorough that he made us feel very comfortable about the purchase we recently made. Paul was so professional, warm and wonderful to work with. He showed us how to do certain things and how to use the things in our new home that we were not aware of. Paul was so terrific that we will definitely be referring him to everyone we know and we know our Realtor will keep him busy. She was there and so pleased she asked me where I found him, all I had to say was, "I found him on Angie's List." The service was performed at my new condo.

Made a last minute appointment a day before closing. As luck would have it Tri-County was able to fit me in their schedule. The inspector showed up on time with the right tools and equipment and commenced. No nonsense and no wasted time. At the end of the inspection he prepared a formal report which we received later that evening. It is always nice to have another set of eyes to catch things that you may have missed or would not have considered looking into. At the end of the day I felt much better about the property I was purchasing. I would use this service again!

He had already showed up to the house before we even got there, so I was very impressed with his punctuality. He also gave us a discounted rate because we lived a mile away. He was very informative with his final inspection report.

I decided to buy a condo on a short sale, contingent on inspection. Since the Realtor did not recommend one, I went online and found Tri County. What I noticed immediately is that: they do not work for Realtors and decades of home construction experience. I called Tri County and spoke to Paul Crowley, the owner. He knew just where my condo was located in Brighton, even though his business is in Clinton Twp., several miles away. Paul also told me his inspection price, based on home type and square footage. He explained to me what he looks for in a condo versus a private residence. Paul arrived on time to the inspection and went through the condo very carefully and thoroughly. He had a $500 tool, a "shiffer" to detect gas leaks, another high level tool to test electrical, and paid extra attention to anything I had questions about. He also answered every question I had, in easy to understand language - problem. He spent most of the afternoon at the condo, a relatively small two bedroom with a basement. Paul found obscure items that were defective - things the average inspector would not find. He does not work for or with Realtors, and signs his invoice as such. Paul promised that his report would be delivered by email that evening, after running through a computer automated process by a Florida company. Paul sent the report to me early that evening. He added some additional remarks to the report he emailed me, after he looked it over. And I called him with some other questions, which he answered. He even offered to speak to my family or anyone else helping me with the condo, any time. Paul also has a window replacement business. Since there were serious problems with two windows, he recommended a trusted repair person near the condo. And told me who is very overpriced, as well. Update 11/12/12 Paul missed several defects and his recommendation to not inspect the outside of the condo, knowing that it is 39 years old was terrible advice. The roof is so bad a contractor I've had do work for me has called it "unsafe". I just about had to push him out onto the deck to get him to look at that. The windows have inside storms that do not fit correctly and one screen was duct taped on - neither mentioned in his report. Also, some of the windows that are part of the doorwall were glued in and would not move. A window expert missed these??? The drain pipes under both the kitchen and bath sinks are covered with plumber's putty - missed that, too. The electrical problem in the foyer that he mentioned was easily determined to be a fire hazard. The back gutter and downspout were disconnected resulting in moisture problems. There are several woodpecker holes on the outside of the chimney. There is a place open to the attic in the soffit area by the front porch. The cedar siding was rotted through in a couple of places due to a recent ice dam problem. The caulking in the main bath needs to be redone. Places in the basement lacking insulation. Mortar crack in the foundation. Some of these items are costing me money and some, if brought to my attention, could have been fixed by the HOA sooner if I had known about them. Instead contractors I've hired to do some work have brought these to my attention, winter is approaching and who knows when they will be fixed. The items I've had to pay for should have come right off my counter-offer.
