Hoover Electric Plumbing Heating Cooling

Yesterday, I filled out a webform to have Hoover come out to run a wire today. I initiated a webchat with Hoover through their website asking them to give me an estimate before they would come out the next day. They said they'd e-mail an estimate. That never happened. They came out without e-mailing the estimate first, said it would cost over $800 to run the wire a few feet in the attic. Obviously, that's about 8 times too much for such a simple issue. I had to waste $80 for today's visit. Had they e-mailed me as promised, I wouldn't have thrown away $80 for nothing.

I requested a quote to 3 different companies. 2 of them came on a range between $800,00 and $1,000 (around 6 hours of work). I felt expensive so I contacted Hoover Electrics. For the same service they quoted $ 4,000. I felt offended about this quote and even more that I had to pay $60,00 for the technician just to go there to prepare this unbelievable quote. I do not recommend this company even for a quote. Who makes $4,000 in less than 1 day of work (just labor)? I contacted them to have them voiding this $60,00 fee but they did not do it, saying that I knew that before, so I should pay. Very disappointed.

Hoover will charge you $60.00 for a quotation and that quotation will be 3X the price of the lowest 5 quotations averaged together. In addition, there may be critical expenses left off the quotation that was $60.00 and 2X the second most expensive and 3X the average.

My house is over 90 years old and needed new wiring upstairs to replace old knob and tube wiring. The technicians that came out to rewire my house, Shane and Brady, were extremely professional and knowledgeable. I had no worries about them doing the work. They let me know what was happening every step of the way, they worked continuously for hours and they left my house spotless. I would definitely call them again to have them do any electrical work in the future!

Very responsive, very professional but I thought the price was very high. I did not price shop, so maybe the going rate is that high. The 220 line cost me $787 and I asked for a quote to add 2 additional 110 lines, the quote was $750 which I declined. The line was installed maybe 15 feet from the breaker box, so it was not a long run. I assumed maybe $500 tops and would have price shopped but I was in a bind as the stove was sitting in the middle of the kitchen. Again, very professional, excellent quality work, but I thought the cost was high, that was my only complaint.

It was a great experience. Mike Maczka came by and immediately diagnosed the issue. He did a great job explaining what needed to be done to fix the issue and made sure I understood everything before he proceeded. He was very diligent and professional in fixing my issue. I would definitely recommend Mike and Hoover to anyone.

Both Electrician and Plumber showed up at the same time. Both technicians were professional and completed the job correctly. The old hot water heater was starting to leak due to internal corrosion. Safety wise they verified a flue liner was installed, gas shut-off valves were up to date, water shut-off valves on water tank updated. The new water heater was not exactly what I ordered, but it made sense on the amount of work needed to install. The old electric panel did not ground the house correctly and did not have whole house breaker switch. In modernizing the home this was a significant safety issue. The panel upgrade proved to be very difficult to change due to the grounds being a twisted mess and the brick on the house being so thick. It was very frustrating for the tech because it took a full day and a half to finish a job that they expected to take a couple hours. He handled it extremely well. Both jobs Hoover arranged for inspection. The job impressed the city inspector. The quote was a little on the high side for the six other quotes I had on both jobs. I chose the company due to the professional sales rep, Angies List ratings, open timing for job completion, and both jobs being done at same time. I will hire them again if needed.
