About us

We are a small structural consulting engineering firm founded by Alfred Lopez in 1971. For many years, Al worked alone and developed a strong reputation for someone who could make things work. Our design philosophy is that there is a solution to every problem. This reputation has been passed on by Al to the rest of the Lopez Engineering Design team. Lopez Engineering relies on a "word of mouth" campaign instead of formal advertising thus keeping overhead to a minimum.

Quite awhile back our whole website crashed along with email addresses. We had to set up new email addresses so possibly it was missed in this confusion. Our typical inspection fees are $400 to $700. He confirmed that there was no imminent structure problem and that the structure was better than basic code. The engineer was named Jon. He was a real nice guy. He was someone you would want to deal with as a customer which is good for the company. The price was more or less the going rate if I am not mistaken but I am not sure. The analysis took them at least two hours, maybe closer to three hours. There was nothing that I didn't like. He was knowledgeable and paid attention to detail. Some engineers have poor social skills but he was a nice guy and I went along with him so I could see what he was talking about instead of reading a report. I would recommend them to other members.
Description of Work: I hired Lopez Engineering to do a structural analysis on our home. I found them on Angie's list. The structural analysis is so I don't have to worry about a contractor who are biased regarding my home. He looked at the structure of the house, especially the foundation. He went in the crawl space. We have a crack and we wanted to make sure it wasn't a big problem.

Repair estimates for the basement are still in progress. Lopez is available for further services such as overseeing the contractor's work/repair. Would strongly recommend this company and will use again for additional work.
Description of Work: Mike provided structural design drawings for a pier foundation basement repair. Work was professional, timely and reasonable. Modifications were also provided based on foundation contractor input. Costs are ongoing and included numerous inspections, pictures, measurements, review of soil boring reports, sealed drawings required for permits and project management. .

Alfred Lopez was on time for the appointment, arriving a little early. He performed his inspection and was helpful and courteous, and the plans were completed quickly within 3 business days following the inspection.
