Robin was very nice and answered our questions. Her husband is a structural engineer, which we thought was great because our lot may need some input from a structural engineer so the team approach was appealing to us. We met for approximately an hour. After we left we sent an email a couple of weeks later with a few more questions and never heard back. We ended up going with a different architect. I feel like Robin is much better suited for remodels and additions rather than designing a house from scratch...not that she couldn't do it, but her recent experience hasn't been designing homes. (our emails may not have reached her and we didn't pursue her further because she didn't seem like the right match for our needs at the time.)
Description of Work: We met with Robin, who is an architect/designer. It was just an informational meeting. We were interested designing and building a home in the near future.

Response from Johnston Design Inc
We rearranged our schedule and agreed to meet with [member name removed] and her husband on extremely short notice as they said they needed architectural design and construction drawings immediately for a new home. At our initial meeting, they did say they were interviewing other architectural designers. Following the meeting and at their request, we provided a formal proposal for the work, pictures of similar houses we had designed and samples of our typical construction drawings. We did not hear back from them and assumed they went with someone else. We hope they are happy with that person and with the design of their new home.

My husband and I were very concerned about the settling that was happening in our house. We bought the house 7 years prior and there was lots of cracking taking place in the ceiling and walls. The cracking was getting worse with time. We were to the point where we were thinking of moving because the problem concerned us so much. We called Johnston Design for their input. Cory is a structural engineer and his wife Robyn is an architect. They stayed at our house for some time surveying the issues. They looked everywhere; the attic, main floor, basement, and exterior. We were given suggestions of placing stanchion posts to better support the house. They told us how we could do it ourselves to save money. They showed us exactly where to place the posts. They were very knowledgeable. They explained the process very well. We liked them so much that we asked Robyn to design our kitchen that we were remodeling. We are still in the process of that. But, so far we couldn't be more pleased with their services.
Description of Work: I had some cracking in the walls and ceiling in my house. Cory and Robyn came and evaluated the problem and came up with solutions to fix the issues.
